Lydia Lightfoot Posted December 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2015 I'm not sure if this is related to the patch or not, but the past four hours that I've been doing RP at the Coffer & Coffin and just outside the gate into Ul'dah on the same road, there have been a constant stream of teleporting bots. Characters with identical models, outfit, class, and low level, all with jibberish names, that are literally teleporting. They appear out of nowhere (seeming to "fall from the sky"), turn as if to talk to an NPC nearby, teleport away. Teleport back 10 minutes later or so with 2 more levels (10 instead of 8) and new MSQ-given gear, turn, talk to apparent NPC, disappear. Now that we're near Ul'dah, I'm seeing them run out of the city, run for about 2 seconds, and then disappear mid-run. It's been well over 100 different jibberish names at this point. I was recording them for awhile and did a batch-report of about 30 of them before we left the Coffer & Coffin. I wonder if the patch opened up a security hole in the game. Oops. Anyone else noticing this? Link to comment
Unnamed Mercenary Posted December 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 17, 2015 They've been around for a bit. I've seen quite a few at the pub inside of Camp Drybone. From what I've heard, you can make their programming flip out if you open up a trade. Just try to hand them a useless item like a basic potion or trash items. ...makes some of them disconnect! Enla Posted December 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2015 They've been here since well before I joined and sneak in whenever the server opens up. They are usually cleaned in batches as well, so it might be a few weeks before the lot of them are removed to make room for the next group. Best you can do is report them, take lots of screenshots, and in your report let the mod know you have them so you don't have to manually type each name. They'll be removed eventually. Apparently they're rampant on the more open servers but because Balmung is so congested we don't have to worry about them until the server opens up. Link to comment

Haaa, is that right? Will try this later tonight and see what happens. I was RPing in Sapphire Lane last night when two identical character models with different gibberish names showed up in front of us. The models were literally "on top" of one another so it looked like one person. Link to comment

If they're all stack on each other, I've found a really easy way to get all their names is to make a macro with the following command. /e Then, just cycle through them all and you'll get an echo text blob with their names. Very nice and copy-paste-able into a report form! Link to comment
