Yunas13 Posted March 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2016 Hello fellow Rpers/Writers! As topic says I've got an idea (not fully thought out) that I'm intrigued with but not really sure if the premise can be made into a FFXIV idea. I am researching a game that I plan on playing when it comes in this week, Legend of Dragoon is what it is call. I was thinking about the soul stones of FFXIV and they kind of remind me of the dragoon spirit from this game. http://legendofdragoon.wikia.com/wiki/Dragoon_Spirit (Link that talks about the stones) http://legendofdragoon.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Dragoon (Link that talks about the game) I've got this idea that Rinoa's mother, Shana, is an expert archer and healer, she gives her daughter her silver white stone (reference to the Silver White Dragon Spirit-it is specialized in healing) that reacts to her and awakens her healing abilities. (It's not white Mage strength, yet) I would love to call her a dragoon, though I've read it is only for the lancer class, but in the game dragoons are archers/lancers/swordsman(women)/and axe fighters. They are also called Dragon Knights as well. This game is what made me love dragons and the idea of being able to fight with a dragon spirit that picked it's newest champion, I really like and would love to somehow have a connection to the dragons in the game. The story sort of resembles FFXIV instead of the main bad guy in the game, it's Zodiark in FFXIV trying to be reborn. What do you guys think I could go with this possible inspiration? Link to comment
Sounsyy Posted March 28, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2016 I am an avid fan of Legends of Dragoon. That game was my childhood. However, I've got to say that I think there are far simpler and easier ways to go about achieving such a character that stays within the setting of FFXIV without bringing in other-worldly concepts and trying to force them to fit. As you mentioned, a dragoon (note: not the Azure Dragoon) does not have to use a lance and is any Ishgardian who proves to the Holy See that they've slain a true dragon. Your hypothetical character could very well have been an Ishgardian chirugeon or conjurer who took up the bow when their husband/mother/father/brother/village was destroyed in a dragon raid. Having taken up the bow to fight the war, they eventually fell one of the dragons responsible, thus claiming the right to be called dragoon. From that backstory you could go almost anywhere, it maintains all of the basics of your concept, but remains within the setting, and would probably make for a more dynamic character. No soulstone even required, as a bonus. If having one of the central characters (Shana) from Legends of Dragoon be your character's parent is necessary you feel or this is still just a concept you want to just roll with, by all means, but I personally think there are more fluid means at achieving the same or similar. Let Legends of Dragoon be Legends of Dragoon and FFXIV be FFXIV, in other words? Idk. 1 Link to comment
Yunas13 Posted March 28, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted March 28, 2016 Thank you, Sounssy. I expected laughter or told no way it could work but thank you for not laughing at my crazy idea. I've been struggling to find a story idea or anything so I think I'll just play FFXIV and enjoy the game, if I happen upon a quest that triggers an idea than I'm excited! Link to comment
