Training Room for FC

Hello, and this probably falls under this forum the best.

 

I've decided to remake our FC's training room within the private room section of the house since the person who had made our last one left.

 

I'm looking for suggestions on what to place. While they had done a good job, I'd like to not make the exact same room, though I will be doing the Tatami Flooring at least, and being a Maelstrom Themed house, I'll be using that Wallpaper too. What would other good pieces of furniture work well for a training room?

When designing a room I like to think of a real world parallel and start from there. In this case it would probably be a gym or dojo, right? So, there's the obvious training area, a big open space. There's also maybe changing rooms, showers, or baths? Maybe a place to sit between workouts? Since it's likely going to need a wide open space (you'll be saving on item slots) you can really get creative with structural things, too, like pillars and walls.

 

Also, this site, Housing Snap, is really great for inspiration. I'd caution against outright copying things just because that's not super nice, but it's a great place for inspiration!

There's a couple other things to consider too...

 

Will you be hosting actual sparring matches there? If so, you'll need plenty of space for spectators and for fighters to move around.

 

Are you going for an Eastern dojo theme or more of a Western gym? It could be nearly a religious space to pretty much a bath house. Your item shopping list will be very different. My Xaela set up a public room for sparring and I went very minimal on the decorations, using a couple mats, incense burner, a few floor cushions, etc. The bathhouse I built has benches, shelves, and cabinets (I think it's the Riviera armoire that has a good tall locker appearance) for people to use.

Will probably be more of a western theme, with mats on the floor. I could have a few viewing benches on the wall with some Maelstrom closets on the wall. Too bad there is nothing like weapon racks in the game (or are there?) but am thinking now of a boxing ring in the corner at least.

Audience Member 9: I pride myself in being an interior decorator mean in Eorzea, and I have always wanted to be able to display my epic gear and my weapons that I've worked really hard on in the house. So I was wondering if maybe we could get mannequins or weapon racks? (audience applause)

Yoshi-P: (thumbs up as Aimi translates "interior designer") We just so happen to have a similar conversation to that about four days ago in Japan. But somewhere along hopefully the 4.X series, we're looking into the possibility of it.

Aimi: Oh, I'm sorry - definitive! We will accomplish it in the 4.X series!

 

...but that means it'll still be a good few months before they show up...

I would like that just for having stuff "on display" for a weapons/armor shop... so I hope that's a thing that happens.

Ya, I may have to make due with what is in the game currently and add and adjust to new housing stuff when it comes out.

In my fc [mansion] we use the upstairs room with that open window. We put a few benches and lockers there with Tatami mats. We use it for spars and tournaments and it's nice to have a spectator window.
