Acistian Posted June 1, 2013 Share #26 Posted June 1, 2013 I honestly can't decide on what I'd like to play now, but I did feel as though the monk was a tad slow in comparison to the paladin, buy yay game physics and weight XP. I may just have to level them all up, so I can be flexible for what is needed, that is IF they release a Ninja Job in the future, but as far as main RP job, probably monk would make more sense transitioning over to a Ninja. Out of wonderment, I would like to see if they would throw in Dancer in a patch or expansion, it would be interesting to see its mechanics for XIV...... or even Blue Mage. Link to comment
Grott Posted June 1, 2013 Share #27 Posted June 1, 2013 Dragoon is everything I hoped it would be and more. That's all I have to say about that video. Link to comment
Cornet Espoir Posted June 2, 2013 Share #28 Posted June 2, 2013 I'm curious to see how a dancer would work in the game Link to comment
Caysen Posted June 2, 2013 Share #29 Posted June 2, 2013 What does the scholar do as a FF job? In FFXI, Scholar was a hybrid mage that alternated between light and dark magics. Whichever they have active, their skills in that magic are boosted while the other are much lower. They also have job abilities called grimoires, which have different effects on casting, such as halving the MP cost or casting time, boosting power, or turning single target spells into AoE spells. But the grimoires only work on the school they have active at the time. For example if they have Light Arts active, their skills in healing, enhancing, etc are boosted and they can use light grimoires to effect light spells, but their dark magic skills are mediocre and they cannot access dark grimoires. They can only use a set number of grimoires before they have to recharge. They also have many Scholar-only spells: Helixes, which are powerful dark magic DoTs, light magic Storm spells that change the element of the weather around them, and buffs that boost or reduce a party member's aggro gain. There's also two spells they can only use while under their 2hr, Embrava which gives Regen, Regain and Haste, and Kaustra is a brutal dark magic DoT. The fun of playing SCH was juggling between light and dark magics, strategizing with your grimoires, and keeping the weather around you and your party set to the element you want. Link to comment

It does make me wonder about how it mixes with Geomancer, now that Seekers of Adoulin is out.. I can imagine that having the Geomancer's weather-reliant spells being guaranteed will be a pretty huge boon. Link to comment
Anehki Posted June 3, 2013 Share #31 Posted June 3, 2013 I personally am very hyped for E3 now, as I -really- want to see Arcanist and Summoner/Scholar, I plan to be levelling whatever the confirmed sub-class requirements are for them in Phase 4 so I can experiment with both of them come launch! I am hoping Scholar is similliar to it's usual self, and I hope I get to keep Carbuncle in at least one the two new jobs. (I really want to have fun with Carbuncle as a companion in RP). Scholar would so wonders for bigger parties, with all the emnity tweeking and weather/debuff, just all of that control wold make you the perfect tactitioner (for shouting out fight phases to your group and aiding them in keeping the situation under control <3). It just sounds so exciting, and I cannot wait to work with my Free Company as one of them. Summoner will be SO much fun in PvP! Pet classes normally are, and not to mention endless RP + PvP opportunities. Link to comment
Rhostel Posted June 3, 2013 Share #32 Posted June 3, 2013 I wouldn't expect Scholar to use anything much like the mechanics of FFXI. I suspect they'll look back at what it's been about through the series, which is to say a lesser version of the Sage job, and reinvent that concept with a fresh take. Link to comment

I enjoyed the SCH mechanics in FFXI but I doubt they will be the same in FFXIV. I'm expecting more of a focus on debuffing and DoTs, if they come from Arcanist like we think. I'd like to see them do something with Libra/Study/Scan/whatevertheycallitthistime too. Link to comment
Niteshade_Rune Posted June 19, 2013 Share #34 Posted June 19, 2013 I was so happy to see the latest video showing Carbuncle, I loved how they designed em back in FFXI and was about the only real exception i took to my usual melee based fighting and hybrid classes was taking a lil time to get out SMN and run around with carbuncle busting out Poison nail/claw haha. I am really looking forward to diving back into this game in a couple months. Sadly ive missed all the beta weekends so i havent gotten to check out the revamped combat so i dont know if i can hybrid up some of my abilities like i was doing back in 1.0 but I'll make things work either way. Loving the last few videos they've released. I wonder if we'll see a Darknight and Ninja make a comback in 14 Link to comment
Gerik Posted June 19, 2013 Share #35 Posted June 19, 2013 I wonder if we'll see a Darknight and Ninja make a comback in 14 I'm sure eventually they'll be implemented, hard to deny FF classic jobs. Link to comment
