Jove Posted August 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2013 In light of the return of server errors and some us repeatedly being kicked from the servers (seriously I had just made the perfect UI layout and before I could save, BAM, error 90000 and a disconnect) I figured I would make this thread to see what you guys get up to with this game. So, who else: Specifically goes to the inn room to log out via bed? (Seriously the little plinky notes as you glomp onto the bed are the perfect way to end an adventure and it's great to start a new one the next day by waking up) Walks around not to RP but just to enjoy the sights? Gets pumped up to play some XIV by listening to some FF tunes beforehand? Had to make a cheatsheet just to have on hand correct spellings, definitions and lore friendly terms? Link to comment
bamcart4 Posted August 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2013 I've been listening to a collection of the Preludes from most FFs all week since Open Beta ended. The cheatsheet is a good idea as I do need help remembering the spelling of some words. Link to comment
Moondoggie Posted August 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted August 25, 2013 Well i only just got up to Inns due to slow and jumbled progress. I had some questlines stuck for ages since i couldn't do instances and i still need to do a level 10 one so i can unlock more of the game. I definitely have a cheat sheet . I have a whole notebook on my character and other notes just in case i end up in some freeform roleplay and don't want to say something strange. I've used the walk feature a bit usually indoors as part of trying to immerse myself more to the game. Also like sitting on things and showing hats and hoods when the sun is out (Keepers are not daytime lovers of course) or when it rains. I do enjoy the sights. Sometimes i just have to stop and sit somewhere to take it all in. Link to comment
Chisae Posted August 25, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 25, 2013 I walk around town a lot, and sometimes out in the woods. I love logging out in the inn room. but Taijha hasn't finished the 10 story quest yet (servers went down just after she dinged 10 and I Logged out). Link to comment
Magellan Posted August 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 25, 2013 Things I do while milling about: *look for the funniest names. (I find them funny. Odd names wouldn't even bother me on an official RP server let alone an unofficial one. I'm a big fan of the male Roe named Healery Duff so far ) *random emotes at people. Sometimes its the best way to initiate RP. So far, no success. They probably just think I'm some crazy Wildwood who clicked on the wrong person! *Take many, many screenshots of the Gridania night sky. So pretty <3 *Hunting Log!! It's the best! Link to comment
K'nahli Posted August 25, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 25, 2013 On the last night of the beta I climbed some big rock in Central(I think) Thanalan near a busy road and waved at everyone who passed, mostly chocobo riders. I later realised most were using porters but so few people acknowledged me and the two people who eventually joined me ;-; I need to make a cheatsheet, thank you for reminding me to work on it. I like to do many of the things you mentioned but today I had to mostly do quests as I needed to get along in the story to make it from Ul'dah to Gridania for an IC meeting later on >w< Almost there, before the maintenance, eheh. Korin Posted August 25, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 25, 2013 I do go to the inn to log out. More so after witnessing the overwhelming adorable that is the Miqo'te ear/tail animations... I just melted with glee ;_; Same for the walking, too. I also do it to make sure I don't charge into walls when I'm a little sidetracked on the ps3... Gridania is so pretty to walk around in! I love how often it rains - it really reminds me why I went for the ps3 version, I could never admire the scenery on my stone age PC ;_; Link to comment
Colyer Posted August 25, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 25, 2013 I try and log off in an inn, if I am logging off for the evening/day. If it is a quick log of to get some stuff done, then I'll just log out where I am, or near a quest objective. Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted August 25, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 25, 2013 Yep, I try to log off in inns whenever possible. It's just a little bit of immersion for me. I've also been known to wander around looking for cool places and, yes, I also note down key lore points and terms so I can remember them (though I find telling people about them is a good way to help reinforce them in my mind). As for the FF music, well... I own almost every Square soundtrack, all the Black Mages and Distant Worlds CDs... so, yeah. I sometimes get weird looks from people when my playlist switches from something modern to, oh, Battle on the Big Bridge. Link to comment

Yeah, but mostly because you get nice rested XP while in your inn room. 2. I do this sometimes! 3. I've never been a fan of FF in general, so... no, I don't do this. 4. Nope! Though maybe I should... Jove Posted August 25, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted August 25, 2013 Glad to see I'm not the only one who does a few of these. I discovered how nice it was to just walk around when I was trying to take some screenshots from the beta. As I was walking about, seeing every one run around like headless chickens, it just kind of hit me that there's no need to rush, I'm gonna be here a while. Also I have to admit, by just walking about and taking my time to look around, I've found some pretty neat areas off the beaten path, including a beautiful stream in the Central Shroud. Can't wait to walk about in urban areas with my chocobo and lance like some kind of knight :chocobo: As for logging out, if it's only for a few hours I'll usually go to a camp (for the rested XP bonus of course) if I have time and sit on a chair, then log out. I don't know why, I just like doing that. I'm a huge fan of FF music, especially the VIII soundtrack, but I do often load up The Black Mages and I recently downloaded Final Fantasy VI: Balance and Ruin which is pretty wonderful. I think I might have to make a snazzy cheatsheet in Photoshop and print it off, because I soon discovered that what I had written down was quickly filling up a few pages  Link to comment
