Trigonxv Posted September 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2013 Idk about you all but my time as a levels 50 has been a nightmare when it at least comes to the relic quest cause all i see is and i quote "LF Geared and experienced". Okay two things here, one while gear does increases survivability it does not guarantee a win if people are not up to par. The fact that I see the same people day in and day out asking for such groups to me seems like whatever group they did acquire with their requirements still failed. The second part is experience, it absolutely baffles me in here and RL how people want experience but never want to give it but whatevs. This thread right here I hope to be incredibly useful in acquiring people who one, can at least enjoy the game after a wipe and not quit, and two can offer insight and strategy to those less informed. The purpose of this thread is to create a directory of people who wil not quit during primal or even dungeon runs because things are not going smooth and will be helpful and intuitive and not care about the requirements such as gear or experience.(one thing on gear, the fact the crystal tower will keep people from joining based on gear should indicate technically all pre tower primals and dungeons are doable with a variety of gear and strategy) The template to follow or use as a guide Name: Andras Goetia Server: Balmung Main Job: Dragoon Alt Job: None Availability: Usually 2pm-8 or 9pm Eastern Time Bio(optional): Hello fellow dungeon/primal runners quick tidbit about myself, I always stick around in runs even when the going gets tough, I believe in trial and error. Also if you want an uber kewl dragoon I am the one for you. See you around in game Link to comment
K'dath Posted September 25, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm still making the slog to 50 myself, but I whole heartedly support what you're trying to do here. I've been healing MMOs as long as MMOs have been around, and my time honored battlecry is "Don't run with me if you hate fun." This is a game. And games are fun. If you're not having fun then you are doing it wrong. As a healer, raid leader, and person, I always treat other players with enough respect not to yell or lose my temper with them. Mistakes happen. Sometimes people don't know the fights and they need to be explained. Sometimes they need to be explained more thoroughly than others. And sometimes you can't quite explain it, and what you're talking about needs to be seen first hand. I'm not experienced enough with game content yet, but when I get there, you can count me in as a healer that won't cry over spilt raids. 1 Link to comment
Zaul Posted September 25, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2013 I have a similar issue. But my biggest problem is finding a group in the first place. There's always 10 other Dragoons looking for the same thing. And people only tend to want a group full of Bards. But yea I can throw my name out there. I am open for any end game content if a DPS is needed. Zaul Zuko Balmung Dragoon None Free all day Mondays and Sundays, 730PM-12AM most other days. I'm familiar with raid mechanics and learn quickly. Also don't quit and like to push my group to completion. It's a great feeling when after all the hard work the people you grouped with were able to accomplish the task put in front of them. LiadansWhisper Posted September 25, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2013 I am a perfectionist...about my own performance. It's just how I'm wired. I do, however, expect other people to give 100% effort in any group I'm in, because that's what I'm giving. With that said, I'm always happy to help people trying to get past Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, etc. There's actually a Linkshell of those of us who want to pug and not use the Duty Finder if possible (it's called Balmung's Finest). Character Name: Liadan Summerfield Server: Balmung Job: White Mage Alt Job: None yet Times: I'm usually on between 12pm-3:30pm CST, and then again from 10pm-whenever I get tired. I raid in WoW Sun-Thursday during progression, but on Fridays and Saturdays I can be on in the early evenings. Link to comment
Magellan Posted September 25, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2013 This is a game. And games are fun. If you're not having fun then you are doing it wrong. This. Sooooooo much this. <3 People spend so much time crying about bad runs, and pugs, that its quite turned me off from raiding in general. I am SO sorry, madam or sir, for simply trying to have FUN during my downtime, and for not meeting your epeen requirements of perfection in a GAME. Given how unhappy these people seem to be, it's a wonder they are still here. Runs should be fun regardless of who is in your party, or you are taking things waaaaaay too seriously. Why play if you need things to be 'exactly so' to have fun? You're just gonna beat your head against the wall 9/10, and annoy the people around you. Link to comment
Vito Posted September 25, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 25, 2013 Server: Balmung Job: Warrior Times: I log in every day, but I don't have a set time. What I find annoying is when people just rush into enemies just because they want to get it over with. Yeah, life's all about wanting things to just be over with. Though it's not going to help anyone else if you run into a boss before I can explain the strategy. This happened to me the other day, I was doing The Sunken Temple of Qarn with a group and there was this one Archer who was trying to rush the whole thing despite not knowing what to look out for. The last boss is impossible if you don't look out for lasers and crap like that. There's a way to do it that just apparently took too long to read. Then there are times where I have never done a dungeon and neither has the rest of the party, but we figure it out through trial and error. I am a perfectionist when it comes to myself, but I'm really accepting towards people who actually want to learn. It's like real life, when you're looking for a job when you just got out of a trade school or college, whatever. The whole world wants experience, but they don't want to take the risk and give it. A lot of people are looking for what they can get out of you, unfortunately. Link to comment
Fates Skein Posted September 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 26, 2013 Still working my way up to level 50 but I -really- love running dungeons with newbies, tackling the mobs and bosses until we all get to feel that feeling of accomplishment. Anais Fleurdevide Scholar Balmung Times online vary. Typically all day on the weekends (with small breaks for food) and in the evenings on weekdays. I'm in MTN time. Currently level 35. Bio: Long, long history of playing a healer or a tank in MMOs. Some experience as a DPS as well. If you need a tank -and- a healer, my SO is my pocket tank and he has years of experience doing that. We don't get frustrated at wipes unless they're caused by people being dumb (if the dps purposely face-pulls that group of 5 mobs because they want to 'go faster' then we have no problem letting that dps die). We're all about educating and enjoying the challenge of a dungeon run. We'll happily do the research to make sure we have the best possible chance at winning. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted September 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2013 Name: Loki Aethetide Server: Balmung Main Job: Summoner Alt Job: Scholar. Though it's not as geared as SMN is. Availability: Uh it varies, but you can usually catch me on 2pm - 7pm PST. Though I am on at all times of the day, those 5 hours I am generally DEFINITELY on. Bio: I am a super dedicated endgame runner. My guildmates like to tell the story of when I was up for 21 hours and ran 15 successful CM runs (True story). However, I'm still somewhat new at it, having only hit 50 last week. I've done CM (too much) and am always willing to go, I have Ifrit Hard on farm and am always willing to teach. On relic reborn quests I've done Hydra for guildies, but not Chimera. I just got my Relic reborn quest today so... I'm geared for AK (5 Darklight pieces/Ifrit Weapon) but I haven't actually ran it, but if anyone actually wants to go with me give me a buzz. I do not drop after the first (or 50th) attempt. Today my guild tried Garuda hard and got her to 15% on our last run, but we still haven't cleared it. I believe practice makes perfect. I'm totally willing to heal CM on SCH, and probably Ifrit Hard and some Relic Reborn things (Though I have not healed those yet, so be warned) Link to comment
Rhylund Posted September 26, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2013 Liadan plugged it already (<3) but I'll drop this here: Balmung's Finest. We've currently got about ~100 members. I haven't needed to queue for the duty finder with an incomplete party in in ages. Link to comment
KitKat Posted September 27, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 27, 2013 I'll add my name! Name: Katja Wynter Server: Balmung Main Job: White Mage Alt Job: None yet Availability: Many evenings, every night to late night - Eastern US time. Bio: I'm like Liadan. I try to be perfect, myself, but I don't expect perfection out of others. I actually prefer an enjoyable experience rather than a successful one (though I won't turn my nose up at both!). That's not to say that I'm bad and rarely succeed in dungeons. Quite the contrary, actually. I'm simply saying that I play this game to have fun. My fun is never at the expense of another player, though. That said, I've been known to mess around in dungeons (and especially outside of dungeons, ask Eve) when I know it's at no risk of wiping the party and I know the people I'm in there with.
