Daylight Roleplayers: Balmung Edition

Recommended Posts

After a certain point' date=' it'd seem you'd stop and wonder if it's not just every single possible person you meet but you yourself that is causing these reactions. Nobody else probably wants to say anything because it seems like it's starting a fight, but I'm only suggesting this for an introspective look at what you might be doing wrong.[/quote']

Having dealt with someone else this week with this exact problem, I can say that self-awareness is not something everyone has.

Sometimes you can do nothing but stand back, watch, and shake your head in pity while people lash out blindly and burn bridges.

Due to my job, I only get to play a couple of days out of the month and aside from my linkshell, yet I see RP at every city-state and scattered throughout the wilds in pubs and the sort. Peak hours for Balmung are noon EST - midnight, depending on the day of the week. It's harder to find RP out in, say, La Noscea not in a sanctuary as if you run by a few folks fighting mobs you might not know they're RPing unless they speak.

RP is everywhere and no one is obliged to include your character if you're just sitting there emoting to yourself or somesuch. Usually when I am eating IRL and just hanging out I go to a pub and have my character (usually JJ) chow down on some food which sometimes sparks people marveling at this ugly sod nomming. I don't ask for it, nor am I miffed when I am ignored.

I'm going to sound like an echo and say if you're having a bad experience across the board... maybe it's you. We've all been in on some poorly-constructed RP or downright OOC-RP (use of LOL and other shorthand and such) which could very well have branched to OOC bashing or whatnot. It comes with the territory. Not everyone RPs the same nor tolerates the same.

Just chill and take a step back.

JJ won't share his sammiches.

I joined FFXIV about a day ago ((I was in the beta and then my comp died ;_; )) and I ran around looking for rp after I hit level 15 or so... when I couldn't find it, I just made my character out-going and just sat down with stand-offish people in the Quicksand or something. I've never "just gone with it" in any mmo before...

BUT IT WORKS>>> HOLY HELL.

And since I've have insane rp encounters. Maybe you gotta try just a bit harder, if you're waiting for an invitation. But if you still want rp, I'll just be sitting in the Quicksand bugging people :)

I hope they don't call the guards on me. :tonberry:

Thus far I've been focused on a bit of leveling and following the games main storyline. I generally like to settle into a game a bit and get used to mechanics before turning my attention to roleplaying.

So even just running around like a loon, I'm seeing RP everywhere. Not just the big cities and taverns, but everywhere, in the most random of places. Balmung is one of the most vibrant RP communities in any MMO.
