Cliche RP Elements

I don't care people do in their own time, but don't bring it to the guild. Which is what she did. >.>

Witch hunts are stupid, I roleplay with me + guy all the time, they probably assume I'm ERPing, when we're actually just yelling at each other xD

What you said, about interesting characters, is exactly why I liked RPing with Ormea Wing on Aion, they had interesting characters that were fun to rp with and there was no one on the prowl for Romance RP. If it happened naturally, that was fine, but they didn't act like it was a necessity, it was refreshing.

Hehe :P Ormea Wing was fun, yeah. It's a shame that I never really got to develop Shadiya more, she could have been fun. But it was at a time where I couldn't really be on for the events very often.

And now I'm curious about who it was :P But... I think I maybe can sort of guess.

There WAS a lot of melodrama on Lumiel from time to time, lots of dramatic people <.<

We had one in our guild in Aion' date=' who pretty much flat out stated she was only there for the romance RP. There was a lot of drama that insued (Having to do with ERP no less, surprise surprise) and needless to say she didn't last long. You would know her if I told you her name, she has quite the reputation.[/quote']

I think I know exactly who you are talking about, because I'm pretty sure she joined the legion I was in right before I left. Another problem I found is that there were people who had a problem seperating real life from RP. They would have ERP and then act as if there was a real relationship happening, which I'm not saying people shouldn't have real relationships online, but you shouldn't expect one either.

being a douche.

And who said you're not grasping American slang? :P

Anyway,

There were a few female players who I RP with in my EQII guild that used to complain to me about their crappy martial situations at home. I ended up listening to /tell after /tell about their husbands going off and cheating on them and how sexually frustrated they were. This often ended up leading to awkward situations where they kept telling me how attractive my character was (I must say, he was quite handsome with his full body tattoos). After refusing to ERP with them several times, they eventually lost interest.

To this day I'm positive that woman were just really attracted to my avatar, LOL! I have never had a problem with being sexually harassed by lonely women since I moved on from EQ2..... Or maybe sexually frustrated women tend to play EQ2? Can anyone vouch for that? :P

Never having played the game, I actually think they do. At least from some of the stories I've heard <.<

I still think one of the worst things I've tried was a guy on ARP commenting on my characterprofile that he wanted to "liprape" my character or something along the line. While applying to our guild. I was mortified.

And hehe, yeah, I do know a little slang. But the first time Iroh said something about "Stepping" or "stepping up" or something, as a joke, I was one big question mark :D

I'm so glad I found someone else that feels like this besides me. Constant ERP drives me nuts.

It's really irritating. I've gotten to the point that I hate frequenting the "tavern" of whatever game I'm playing, because I'm afraid of the 'escort' guild types that are always there.

One thing that drives me crazy is characters who show a great deal of interest in you' date=' and as soon as they discover you're not interesting in roleplaying relationship with them, they lose interest. It doesn't have to be ERP, some people are just only interested as long as the possibility for some relationship melodrama is there. [/quote']

This. Yes. A million times yes.

It seems like there's no real friendship between characters these days. Don't get me wrong, I love a little bit of romantic undertone and the underlying tension, but it really doesn't make sense to have that with everyone. Seems quite limiting, actually, as to the kind of RP you can really do and range of plausible emotions. I would think it would get boring to do JUST that, but I'm apparently mistaken.

Well, I'm personally open to all friendships! Especially since I've felt weird about doing real romance since I got into a serious relationship <.< I know, I know, keep IC and OOC seperate, but still. Light flirting or something for the sake of a storyline might be fine, but going into a well developed relationship would just feel weird to me.

So friendships, bring them on!

After awhile that doesn't matter, me and Ellion have never made characters who got along well enough for romance xD. I dunno, for some reason our characters never get together. In Aion I had a thing with Siben (On two characters) and Lloire. Armi being the huge douche nozzle she was, never settled down and lost them both :P

Actually, despite having roleplayed several characters over the past year, Vahsyl and me haven't really roleplayed romance either for a long while. But I haven't really roleplayed romanticly with anyone else either.

Maybe I'm just not romantic anymore :o

Actually, IF I roleplay romance, it's usually never completely happy. I find that if you end up in a relationship where everything is just perfect, it tends to get very boring to roleplay after a while.

In roleplay that is, in real life, I very much enjoy not having drama in my relationship :P

There was an escort guild in Aion called Akutenshi. They started out as a Geisha guild, but that wasn't in lore, so they became.. umm.... an escort guild.

@Kashemia - no one wants to roleplay a happy relationship! It's like a soap opera! All drama, no waiting!... That's my way of saying I'm the same way..

On my server in AoC, there was actually a harlot guild that managed to pull it off well for a while, and actually be one of the more respected guilds on the server. People would hire them for parties, for discrete ERP, or black curtain stuff (just for IC progress), to flirt with them for an evening or stuff like that, and they were really professional about it. Then it started going down hill, and they got a lot of members who were mainly interested in relationships with each other and very public, very explicit ERP.

In general though, those kind of guilds are just... Scary.

:? I got... nothing constructive to say about that.

Nothing.

Nah, your characters probably just haven't been compatible or interested in anyone you ran into. That's not a bad thing!

My last couple of characters haven't been romantic-oriented either, but that's probably because I had a couple of really bad experiences on an old character a while back and have kinda scared me off of it.

Never really did much in the way of Romantic RP. My characters were either off-putting (Sailor types), or.. just didn't get anyone interested.

*shrug*

Never have planned one specifically for romance.

That wouldn't even make all that much sense, really. I mean, why plan a character whose end goals are things that really aren't all that achievable in the game without a huge investment on someone else's part? Roleplaying out marriage, or even worse kids... geez. I've seen it done well, but I've seen it go mostly horribly.

I saw something like that during a trial in LOTRO. I ran screaming.

I did something like this as well - for awhile. The daughter stuck around (and has grown up into an adult character all her own for FF14). Of course the 'marriage' aspect didn't work out due to epic RL phail (oh the stories I could tell....) but suffice it to say, Eva knows very little about her mother, and that's probably a good thing.

So I guess there was drama there, which was interesting from an outsider perspective, and I cannot argue that it didn't make for some good RP, because it did. I guess it would have been nice if it didn't corelate with RL drama that was going on simultaneously.

:frustrated:

Fortunately, a lot of good came out of that awfulness. :approve:
