Lost River Posted January 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2014 And I'll be the devil's advocate; for me, I really didn't care for 10. But that's me, my favorites are 6 and 12. Why 12? Well, once you get past Vaan not being the main character and the supreme ultimate awesome of Basch and Balthier (fans self). >.> Need I say more. Woop. BUT, even though it isn't my top FF games, I'll be picking it up on PS3. The PS Vita one is good, but the fact that 10-2 is DLC only and the physical is 10 only, is kind of odd; but understandable due to the larger size. Can't wait for 12 HD as well! Link to comment
Dakki Posted January 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2014 Oddly enough, with 12, I grouped it in to three seperate stories. Vaan & Penelo, Ashe & Basch and Balthier & Fran. You then pick which story you wanted to follow and enjoy the ride. I personally loved Basch and Ashe. As for this thread... MERRH, I WANT THIS GAAAAAAME! *Tears off own face in desperocity* Link to comment
Flickering Ember Posted January 29, 2014 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2014 The love of my life is much more of a Final Fantasy fan than I am, actually. I've never been too much of a fan of FFX but I've softened up to it over the years. We recently played through X together so we won't be buying this. However, we have both looked over the changes and they look absolutely fantastic. If you are a FFX this looks like a must-buy. Link to comment
Dat Oni Posted January 29, 2014 Share #5 Posted January 29, 2014 There is only one reason for me to even bother with X-2. BROTHER Link to comment
Kage Posted January 29, 2014 Share #6 Posted January 29, 2014 I myself never had a PS2 and only got to see games on it in action for maybe 3 hours in my entire time to see anything. Maybe 1 hour of that was watching a little bit of X. So the only other times I've experienced it has been watching speedruns. Perhaps I'd check out the exhibit if my friends wanted to go. It's pretty close to me after all I preordered the Vita version because after I started FFXIV:ARR I haven't played anything on console or handheld but at least if I have a handheld on the go I can play it. If i'm at home I'm more likely to be on ARR. Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 29, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted January 29, 2014 Heh, okay so admittedly, Final Fantasy 7 is my all time favorite. Along with most, if not all, of their spin-offs (Dirge, Crisis Core, Advent Children, etc.) I think out of all the FF games, FF7 has had the most off-branching even in comparison to 13? Anyway, that being said...as excited as I am about FF10, I umm...maaaaaaaay not have ever played the game ^.^;; *coughs* BUT! That doesn't mean I can't nerdgasm all over the place with other like-minded kin, don't judge me! Any excuse to get out, kick down doors, and meet other nerds is excuse enough to get excited! You get bumped up on my list of cool people now. I really enjoyed 12's combat system and I absolutely loved the monster hunting part. It was very XI-esque as you had to kill place holders or wait for certain weather effects and it was very challenging. The risk of death was always there. I was really upset at how easy 13 was and there is no challenge until after you beat the story. I also didn't like 10 that much, but I sort of enjoyed the dress sphere in X-2. I'll be picking this up on the Vita to give it another chance, and hope that my memories of it being too simplistic and awful are just false memories. I'm just glad there is finally a release date. I have been wondering what was going on since they announced this like a year or two ago. I much rather have a Type-0 port, but... Link to comment
Kiterina Posted January 29, 2014 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2014 Ahhh! I've been looking forward to this for ages! That, and KH3 which still in the TBA pile. FFX was my very first FF I've ever played, so this game holds a very special place in my nerdy heart n_n I think if I had to choose though, my favourite FF would be 8... just because there's Squall. That ballroom dance scene with Rinoa just get me every single time... WALTZ FOR THE MOON! The scene with Tidus & Yuna was great in FFX as well. That was probably my favourite scene in FFX, and for X-2 it's the opening. YRP is too cool! Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted January 30, 2014 Share #10 Posted January 30, 2014 Yeeeep, can't wait for this. Hopefully FFXII is soon to follow. *goes back to replaying FF9 for the umpteenth time on his Vita* Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 30, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted January 30, 2014 I'm still clinging onto the hope that FF7 will one day be re-mastered/created. I CAN DREAM! Link to comment

KitKat Posted January 30, 2014 Share #13 Posted January 30, 2014 Well, once you get past Vaan not being the main character and the supreme ultimate awesome of Basch and Balthier (fans self). >.> Need I say more. Woop. Yeeeeees! Vaan was not the main character. Balthier was. He even said he was! 12 is my favorite FF game. I loved 10, too. Mostly because of the sheer amount of things to do in the game. I still have never gotten 100% completion in the game. I will be picking it up (and the apparently DLC X-2) as soon as it's released. Remember, SE said they'd consider remastering 12 if X/X-2 did well enough. Everyone needs to buy the game so I can play 12 again! Link to comment
Kage Posted January 30, 2014 Share #14 Posted January 30, 2014 I much rather have a Type-0 port, but... Here's to hoping that the Vita JRPG fan twitter campaign to Gio Corsi helped that out. The last rumor I read was that SE had also finished the dub work on it. I'm checking to see if any of my friends are interested. It's close to a nice pizza place I enjoy and my old HS. Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 30, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted January 30, 2014 Hopefully my professors cancel class on that date so I can go:3 Fortunately the gala/event is going to be held for quite some time. Unless you're talking about going on the 15th for the opening. To that I say good fortune to ya! I'm checking to see if any of my friends are interested. It's close to a nice pizza place I enjoy and my old HS. *ears perk up* Did someone say pizza? I will most definitely be there opening day, March 15th, at 2PM. First three hundred for door prizes, woo! I dunno what exactly will be at the four hour gala, but if this will be anything like the Kingdom Hearts event, there will be cosplaying abound! So count me the seven Hells in! Link to comment

It's on Valley inbetween Fremont and Atlantic Ave. next to McDonald's and near Ramona Convent secondary School and a public school. I forgot the actual cross street for it but I love the place. Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Alhambra if you're curious. They've got a big pizza (24") that they only sell for take-out since they're place is so small. ... Pizza party outside of the Exhibit yes/yes? The hard crust kinda kills it for me too. Don't much enjoy eating substitute for a brick lol. The thin crust is just like eating a cracker, as my friends tell me, and I usually wolf down a large by myself when I get it the way I like Oooooooh, leave it to the Lalafell's to always offer good times and food! They're like Hobbits! But...much cuter So I say to you yes/Hell yes! Now all we have to do is actually meet IC and RP And so I say for anyone else that is able to--PIZZA PARTEEEEEHHHH!! Kage Posted January 31, 2014 Share #20 Posted January 31, 2014 Hehe. Lalafells, or at least me, just want to have a good time. Best way I know how to do it with people is over food and games. (No really, only way I know to hang out and have fun with people. Eat. Game. Eat. Eat. Eat. Eat. Games.) On the outside perimeter of angelo's pizza is a sorta big crust but you get to the toppings part and you just think "oh I have this for the crust" Most of my friends and I tend to start using forks and knives if we want to look "civilized". If not, it's a pizza eat it with your hands!! I didn't go to the KH event in Anaheim because it was on Sunday and I like to reserve Sundays for relax and prep for the work week days. I remember hearing that the line was long, hours before the event started. How early do you think people should get to this Exhibit? ((I'd totally be up for meeting up IC and RP ! I'm still accomplishing endgame things so sometimes I may have to cut it off. I just need to get some confidence to RP with people pffft)) Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 31, 2014 Author Share #21 Posted January 31, 2014 Hah, well you definitely got the formula down pretty well to having a good time. Sometimes I like to throw in some paintball/throwing popper rocks (the little things that go 'pop' when you throw it on the ground) at each other to spice things up! I swear I'm in mu 20s Interestingly enough, I use forks/knives/utensils for a lot of the food I eat, even if it is considered finger foods. I am weird that way But I've seen pizzas where you GOTTA eat it with forks and knives. Along with certain burgers from joints like Slater's 50/50! The KH event was pretty long lined, yeah. That was just for a single day event too! So I would imagine for at LEAST the first day, it'll be packed due to the first 300 thing. Sooooooo if you wanna be on the safe side, I'd say getting there at least 2 hours in advance if not more. If you want to be one of the first 300 anyway. Pretttttty sure there will be people getting there like 8 hours in advance because they want to GUARANTEE a spot for themselves (and friends). The site where it is held at already stated you can't camp outside, but you can setup a chair and park. Wooo for meeting new people IC! And no worries about having to suddenly cut if off, any bit of RP is fine, and I like to think I am pretty good at getting people 'comfortable' and/or more confident to RP with others! Breaking people out of their shyness shell. One RP at a time Link to comment
Kage Posted January 31, 2014 Share #22 Posted January 31, 2014 I still need to go to Slater's >_> I was actually told by the manager at The Counter that the way to eat the burger I had made/ordered was to push down on the bun and slice it in half with a knife. (Then hope that when you eat it that you don't dislocate your jaw). I may want to avoid being the first 300 because I do very much think with my stomach... but I could just eat it for like an afternoon dinner. I wished I'd have the ability to sow. I'd cosplay some sort of FFXIV blm and just go there in it. I hope their parking is good because Alhambra can have pretty crappy parking in certain places. I'd want to purchase the game so it could get signed but I preordered a Vita copy off Amazon (iirc it has a small bonus, not as nice as the PS3 version though) Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 31, 2014 Author Share #23 Posted January 31, 2014 I've always wanted to try out The Counter and there is another place in Redlands called Eureka! that I want to go to as well. However, I am VERY biased with Slater's 50/50 and I probably will just say Slater's is better. If you ever go there though, you'll see why And probably agree Oh man don't even get me STARTED with the Asian restaurants that I hit up! Hnnnng! ALL THE RESTAURANT ADVENTURES IN CALIFORNIA! *cough* Ahem, but yeah, that is why you get servan--I meeeean friends, to go on a food run while you save the spot I'll be discussing 'strategy' plans with my group to see the best options as well lol. Though your mention of the pizza place will DEFINITELY help! As for cosplaying, I wish I had that ability too T.T I just throw money at people to make it for me lol. Maaaaaan if I saw some FF14 cosplayers, that'd be awesome! Hmm, good point about the parking. I want to say it should be fairly simple, but will have to check on that stuff too! Link to comment
Kage Posted January 31, 2014 Share #24 Posted January 31, 2014 Order of Attack for this event: 1) Get servants friends to coordinate time and place to meet up. parking availability is a plus. They will hold the line for you as lunch 24" pizza is gotten. 2) Get someone commissioned so you can purchase FFXIV BLM cosplay things in time for it. m 3) BE THERE OR BE NONSQUARE Link to comment
Tobias Nightbringer Posted January 31, 2014 Author Share #25 Posted January 31, 2014 Hmm, better send out a Survey team with flares. Green to signal parking spaces, black for traffic jams, and red for Asian drivers--I mean what? Oooooh man I can only imagine how many hundreds of dollars that would cost to make! I dare say it'd be around a thousand for a custom/quality outfit! TOTALLY WORTH IT! /cosplay obsession Link to comment
