Freyar Posted September 22, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted September 22, 2010 I compressed the two patches with an intact file structure for now. We'll see how it goes. EDIT: I'm currently seeing either a lot of usage (which is good), or my QOS settings aren't tweaked right. Either way I'm looking at averages of 500ms. No big deal since I intend to go to bed, but I'll be looking into that later tomorrow as I get my copy of FFXIV. Link to comment
Rakoh Posted September 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 22, 2010 I can't seem to get thatlink to work. Shame because the download on the patcher is going to take at least 20 hours according to the timer ;_; Link to comment
Freyar Posted September 22, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted September 22, 2010 I may be seeing a massive amount of traffic on the FTP server. I'm working on it the best I can for now. Link to comment
Chveya Posted September 22, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 22, 2010 Is it possible (via you, or anywhere else currently hosting it) to download these files BEFORE having the game? For those of us not loading in till the 30th? Link to comment
Rakoh Posted September 22, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 22, 2010 Been trying to get the patches from the sverver all day and nothing happens, connection just times out. *sigh* 13.9% done after 12 hours of downloading. I hate the Squeenix patcher Link to comment

I hate the Squeenix patcher I don't know if you can see this post without registering on the forums, but try it. So many alternatives, and you're using the SE patcher? Gaaah. http://prancingpwny.roguevega.com/forum/video-game-general/ffxiv-megathread-falafels-on-parade/#p164 Link to comment
Rakoh Posted September 22, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 22, 2010 Problem with torrenting is that it's not much faster since there are rarely any peers sharing the file considering the game just came out today ^^;; . Ending up with a download and upload rate of 3.6kb/s on both the patcher and the torrent because there are only 10 people seeding will do that X_X Link to comment

You can't assume the download rate you have when you first start, is the download rate you'll have when you're in the middle, or at the end. Most people -- people like me, for example -- only allow X number of people to be downloading off of them at once. If there's 9 people in line, and you're the 10th, and I'm only allowing 2 downloads at once, you have to wait your turn. Fire up the torrent, and wait and hour. I can almost guarantee it'll be going faster. But don't try to run the SE patcher and the torrent at the same time. Yikes. Link to comment
Freyar Posted September 22, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted September 22, 2010 Looks like the physical hardware ended up in a hardlock. It should be up and running now. Link to comment
Boots Posted September 23, 2010 Share #15 Posted September 23, 2010 I cannot for the life of me get this to work, and I've put the first file in the right folder. I canceled the first patch at 31%, could that be why? Link to comment

Vareal Posted September 23, 2010 Share #17 Posted September 23, 2010 Any news on the latest patch? D2010.09.23.0000; it fails after trying to install for me. This is what I get: I'm going to try to delete the update file and re-download it. Link to comment

(You should see [PatchNumber].torrent in the corresponding metadata forlder.) it's not the 400mb one. It's the one that was released after today's maintinence. It's roughly 6megs in size, give or take a few bytes. Link to comment

TeeBeeDee Posted September 23, 2010 Share #23 Posted September 23, 2010 I want to say, thank you for this. I know that this is a mostly thankless thing you are doing hosting the files for us to get. I cant imagine how many hours you have saved the community in download times. Thank you for this. Sincerely. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Link to comment
