I compressed the two patches with an intact file structure for now. We'll see how it goes.

EDIT: I'm currently seeing either a lot of usage (which is good), or my QOS settings aren't tweaked right. Either way I'm looking at averages of 500ms. No big deal since I intend to go to bed, but I'll be looking into that later tomorrow as I get my copy of FFXIV.

Been trying to get the patches from the sverver all day and nothing happens, connection just times out.

*sigh* 13.9% done after 12 hours of downloading. I hate the Squeenix patcher -_-

I don't know if you can see this post without registering on the forums, but try it.

So many alternatives, and you're using the SE patcher? Gaaah.

Problem with torrenting is that it's not much faster since there are rarely any peers sharing the file considering the game just came out today ^^;; . Ending up with a download and upload rate of 3.6kb/s on both the patcher and the torrent because there are only 10 people seeding will do that X_X

There are more than 10 people.

You can't assume the download rate you have when you first start, is the download rate you'll have when you're in the middle, or at the end.

Most people -- people like me, for example -- only allow X number of people to be downloading off of them at once. If there's 9 people in line, and you're the 10th, and I'm only allowing 2 downloads at once, you have to wait your turn.

Fire up the torrent, and wait and hour. I can almost guarantee it'll be going faster. But don't try to run the SE patcher and the torrent at the same time. Yikes.

I cannot for the life of me get this to work, and I've put the first file in the right folder.

I canceled the first patch at 31%, could that be why?

Make sure you overwrite the old incomplete patch file. If need be, move the actual D2010.09.18.0000.patch into the directory yourself.

Any news on the latest patch? D2010.09.23.0000; it fails after trying to install for me.

This is what I get:

I'm going to try to delete the update file and re-download it.

That's the 400MB one right? Did you let it download the metadata first? (You should see [PatchNumber].torrent in the corresponding metadata forlder.)

it's not the 400mb one. It's the one that was released after today's maintinence. It's roughly 6megs in size, give or take a few bytes.
