DeathProphet Posted August 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2014 http://s16.postimg.org/rwexteetx/hiiiii.png[/img]Howdy all. I am completely new to FFXIV, and alas am not a massive FF lore buff. Spent most of my time in d&d type rp so hopefully I can find an equally enjoyable experience here. I have plans on playing in Gilgamesh as a male Roegadyn archer type thingy . Soo yea look forward to It all. Also, if anyone feels like giving me a crash course id be grateful. Link to comment
DeathProphet Posted August 10, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted August 10, 2014 Also I'm very interested in joining a linkshell? (I think its like a guild ). I've usually stuck to military type themes but would also be happy as a merc and such. Link to comment
Austratus Posted August 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2014 Yes, Gilgamesh! Yes, more Roegadyn! I'd definitely like to look out for you, though I'm not knowledgable of too many LS (except the ones for my former and current companies... and my solo LS I'm name-camping for ). Keep in mind that it's the Free Companies that are the equivalent of player-run guilds, while Linkshells function more like global channels. Feel free to PM me here or look me up in game if you have any questions about mechanics and some basic lore stuff. I'll do the best I can. Link to comment
DeathProphet Posted August 11, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 11, 2014 Alas I got the digital copy and am in the infinite waiting zone on my activation key. Such joy. Link to comment
DeathProphet Posted August 12, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted August 12, 2014 Between bal and Gilgamesh which has the stronger rp community/players Link to comment
Kage Posted August 12, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 12, 2014 A majority of us tend to RP on only one server so we don't know if we just always imagine that the grass is greener on the other side. They both have their communities. My observations based on posts in forums are that Gilgamesh RP tends to stay within the housing areas, LS, FCs and community made calendar events. Balmung RP seems to be everywhere and in between though we do have our share of naysayers. Either trolls or "bad" Rpers or both. I've seen or heard about cases of godmodding, powergaming, and metagaming. You will almost always seem some type of conversation going on in Quicksand and the communities are building RP for Limsa. Austratus Posted August 12, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 12, 2014 I have no experience with Balmung, but there's a much stronger presence of players from that server on the RPC, considering its history as an RP server goes back to 1.0-- and you'll find that because of this comments seem to lean towards there as the more established / better server where it's easier to find players that you can just walk up to. (Not that I'll dispute any of them. I have some of my own friends bugging me to join that server!) Gilgamesh is more of a melting pot of communities that happen to include the RP sector. The conception with us Gilgameshians is that players prefer to join companies or linkshells and play with them rather than out in the open-- but with that said, walkup isn't exactly a bad thing. Just be sure to ask first! (But that goes with any server! I've done more than my fare share of "ambushing" at a bad time.) And, no matter where you go, I hope you end up enjoying your time in Eorzea! Link to comment
DeathProphet Posted August 12, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 12, 2014 Ty for your words. I am leaning towards bal but truth be told I would rather find a good FC to make up my mind . Do any of y'all know of a military or mercenarie type fc? Link to comment
Austratus Posted August 12, 2014 Share #10 Posted August 12, 2014 For Gilgamesh, I think the Black Sails might qualify. I'm not in it, but a former FC mate is. Their address is Goblet 3-15. Link to comment
Adolar Posted August 12, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 12, 2014 Envisage of Night is an FC based around mercenaries, which seem to be right up your alley. Some great folks there too. Link to comment
DeathProphet Posted August 12, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted August 12, 2014 I shall take look. Anything like bandof the hawk from Beserke would be perfect Link to comment
