What is your character's Virtue/Vice?

Recommended Posts

Virtue: Charity/Temperance

Leanne has a great drive to help people, her friends in special, one time even jeopardizing her own body with a lot of fatigue because of this same drive. At the same time though, she has a deep belief in the "balance of all things" as in, moderation is a must if want to lead a good, enjoyable life, be either in work, hobbies and relationships.

Vices: Greed/Lust

IN COUNTERPOINT, even though Leanne has such beliefs, one of her main aspects is of the girl with an insatiable wanderlust. Her love and passion of freedom and traveling is extremely big, and was so since a young age. She enjoys herself greatly by traveling through the world, and is one of the few things she will refuse with tooth and tail to give up

Virtue: Charity, Fortitude, and Hope.

Roen has an innate want and need to help others and will go to great lengths to aid someone in need. It stems from her desire to atone for what she feels her Garlean father is responsible for. She also does not bend when it comes to her principles even if it costs her dearly. She feels that her ideals are what makes her who she is, and if it was broken, she would indeed be a lost soul. She has a savior complex that also does not allow her to sit by idly while others are in despair and she would do whatever she can to bring them out of it. This need also very much stems from her childhood.

Vice: Lust and Pride.

When Roen becomes passionate about something, usually some cause, she is like a bulldog with a bone. She will not let it go. She may even make questionable decisions to see it through. She also believes that the righteous path is the right path, and constantly tries to prove this to others.

Tarot's Pride outweighs his Greed. While many might think of him being greedy since he does indeed snatch up every ounce of profit he can, his Virtue helps to cancel that out. His Pride is his real vice, which is his Pride in his own abilities and judgment. He feels that he knows best--that he knows what is Right. It may not be good or nice or bad or evil--just that he will always knows what is Right and Best. It's probably why he handles his money the way he does; he feels that he knows how best the money can be spent, so he siphons every bit he can from the wealthy and then spends it on the poor how HE sees they need it (most of the time) rather than give it to them directly. It may not be the most potent or terrible version of Pride, but it is a chink in his armor.

His Virtue is charity--he gives to the poor to genuinely help them and make their lives better. It's the whole purpose behind his actions at the end of the day. He wants the world to be a better place and so he does everything he can (if in the shadows) to ensure the happiness of everyone around him, even if it means having to be cruel or selfish on the surface.

Dogberry's easy.

Virtue: Charity

Dogberry is a caretaker at heart. He often jokes about being a mother hen, and gives of himself and what he has constantly. When finding U'tara in the desert and giving her a meal and making sure she had shelter, or loaning countless people money, or obsessing over the well-being of his crew and others, or babysitting a child left alone in the Quicksand, just as a few examples, Dogberry lives a life of charity and hospitality toward his fellow man.

Vice: Wrath

I often talk about how I based Dogberry on Captain Ahab, the very definition of a wrathful character. Dogberry feels that he has been wronged by the universe. The Calamity has shaken him to the core, and he projects these feelings on to two major icons in his life.

The first is Leviathan, who to Dogberry is a metaphor for all the things that went wrong for him. In fact, Dogberry has a very wrong account of what happened during his shipwreck. His memories of "Leviathan" sparing him are nothing more than a memory he manufactured to deal with his survivor's guilt. If anything, Dogberry should be after Bahamut, but Dogberry's mind doesn't work that way. Being killed by Bahamut, that's understandable. Being spared by Leviathan is the real disgrace, even if that isn't exactly what happened. All that matters is that he believes it, and he truly does. Of course, now that Dogberry has a legitimate greivance against Leviathan, his anger is overtaking him again.

The second is himself. Dogberry's got a special brand of self-loathing. He isn't exactly suicidal, but he still doesn't care if he lives or dies. He's fatalistic about his own death. By his estimation, this is the way it should be for any person who takes up arms in battle. If you devote yourself to war, you have to accept that you are already dead. Even deeper than that, Dogberry is unhappy with many of the choices in his life and feels that he is unworthy of things like happiness and real love. Lately his self-image is picking up due to several of his friends, but deep down, Dogberry is perfectly willing to hurl himself at dangerous beasts and enemies, primal after primal, time and time again, and secretly hoping that maybe this will be the one that finally kills him.

His vice could easily be mistaken for gluttony or lust, but these are coping mechanisms for Dogberry's self-loathing. His alcohol and drugs keep him from thinking about it, and his womanizing stems from a constant need for validation.

Jajara Jara:

Virtue: Fortutide

Despite having run out on her home, her family, and the life that was supposed to be for her, she still clings tightly to the values and morals that the simpler nomad life instilled in her. She struggles with if not outright rejects many of the 'norms' that Eorzea has presented to her simply because she feels they are abhorrent or might betray her piety or morality somehow.

Vice: Pride

Though outwardly she might seem a bit doubtful or unsatisfied with her ability, Jajara still holds an obligation to push herself to do all she can when she can. This can often lead to her forgetting to eat, or forgetting to sleep... much to the worry of those closest to her.

Delial Grimsong:

Virtue: Justice

Even if others might see her sense of justice as warped or, according to some, 'evil', Delial still holds strong to it. There is little that deters her from wishing to exact punishment upon those she (or those above her) have determined are wrong and she can be decidedly severe in delivering said punishment.

Vice: Wrath/Pride

There is a fire in her blood which often controls her when she is not careful, and she is often too self-assured to worry herself about being careful at all. Almost all of her actions and motivations as of late have been driven by one or the other and she has suffered tremendously for it. Even so, it is highly unlikely she will ever be free from what she is.

For Gharen,

Fortitude: Gharen lived a hard life growing up, this has left him with the fortitude to survive, but also left him with the drive to further himself in his personal quest to not only find balance within himself but in becoming an Ala Mhigan weapons master.

Wrath/Pride: Gharen is often in an unconscious battle of wills with his id, a dark aspect of his psyche that represents all of the locked away anger, hatred, and pain he has experienced in his life, it is savage and feral, it's only goal (right now) is to destroy potential threats that cause it harm. He also looks down upon himself as worthless and while he has gotten better about this over the course of the last year with the help of those around him it is something that he still does quietly.

Hah, haven't seen this system in a while. Much preferred to Nature/Demeanor, really.

Virtue: Charity

Verad's business model is based on giving broken things a second chance. Bad artists, poor materials, and shoddy goods alike are all put in front of people in the hopes that they will see the value he sees. This attitude extends to people as often as to products.

Vice: Pride

Anybody who has spoken to Verad for long enough to hear him give one of his many titles is probably aware of this one. His arrogance and overestimation of his own abilities is the stuff of legend in and of itself.

(You probably thought it would be Greed, didn't you? Not at his prices!)

Hurm not toooo familiar with it but here's my take on Kage.

Virtue: Charity

Like many others here before him, Kage will go to great lengths to help others. At the cost of who he is or his own life, he will try to help them.

Vice(s): Envy/Lust/Gluttony

Kage craves and does everything he can for the love and acceptance of those he does love. He craves the relationships people have and he can never get enough of the time and attention he does get from his loved ones. He'd do anything to continue receiving them. Sometimes, to his own peril. Or theirs...

Virtue: Faith

To quote Life of Brian, "Always look on the bright side of life." *whistles tune*

Over the years, Osric has seen or otherwise experienced enough hardship to know that, as awful as suffering can be, pain and turmoil often serve a higher purpose, even if all that means is instilling the drive to endure and survive in the one who suffers. What he once knew instinctively, he now understands consciously.

Vice: Lust

Osric is downright fanatical about keeping his friends and loved ones safe. This has, over time, instilled a messiah complex in him. If he values you, then he will go to absurd lengths to guarantee your well-being. That's his passion, and it was engrained in him at an early age. His "lust" is both a major weakness and a major strength.

Decided too many applied to Oscare, so I went with a heavier primary one and a not-so heavy secondary virtue and vice. >_<

Primary Virute: Temperance

Oscare is a firm believer of balance in all things. Having too much of one will upset the balance on the other end of the scale. And unbalance leads to unhealthy decisions, regardless of how insignificant or if it was done unconsciously. It's a mindset he's developed.

Secondary Virture: Fortitude

Regardless on whatever happens? Oscare WILL see it to the end, especially if it's for a loved one. He will do anything and everything in his power to make sure every conflict has its beginning and its ending, no matter how hard it'll bite back at him later.

Primary Vice: Greed

Oscare always thirsts for more and more. He's probably as good of a sniper and hunter as he can be, trained under the best of the best and even a higher ranked sniper for the Empire, but he has a drive to discover MORE. It tends to bite him in the ass more often than he'd like it to.

Secondary Vice: Pride

Anyone who's played with Oscare would know that this is pretty accurate, even though I personally believe that Greed is more prominent in Oscare than Pride is.

It's kind of cool that both of his virtues contradict both of his vices. They clash against each other, causing the balance he seeks. I DID A GOOD I THINK.
