I haven't been to Otakon in ages. The last time I went was also a meetup with online friends. I suppose I could go if I really wanted to, though, since I'm not that far from Baltimore these days. Hm.

God, I almost sort of miss the carnival-barker types hucking water in the hot summer sun. Or the dudes with the grill selling hot dogs and stuff right on the corner.

I know of a few Ohio friends who met up at Ohayocon so this sounds like it'd be great fun for others in the Otakon area :3

I have a hotel room reserved nearby. I will be available to meet up anywhere around the convention center and inner harbor area. I am not going to the convention as the Otakon experience just stopped being something I enjoy. I will, however, be around to greet friends that are coming in out of town.

 

I'm a Baltimore native, so if you have any questions or want suggestions, I will gladly help.

Yes, that hot dog smell is nice during the 4 hour endurance test, baking on the sidewalk in the windless heat waiting to get your pre-order badge.

 

There is one stretch where I always pray that the sprinklers are active by the time we turn get to it.

This is something I could totally get behind. Use Otakon as an event to work around for a get together, but don't actually... go there. I remember there being a mall nearby that has a wide assortment of food places, and a couple out interesting locales around that might make for good meeting points.

Yeah, the inner harbor has a bunch of amazing bars and restaurants. There's a casino nearby now, too. I'm thinking I'll blow off the con entirely on Sunday and go to the aquarium or the science center.

Getting really pumped for the annual otakon trip! We plan to hit up the terrarium and aquarium Thursday before the Con starts, time permitting (assuming the hellish nightmare line doesn't take too long).=D Would be pretty cool to see other FF14 players at the Con.
