  1. Well done, Leonnaux and company, for running everything with limited volunteers. It must have been hectic.
  2. After much delay and legal negotiation, the Trial of Deidra Rose (Editor-in-Chief of the Crystal Chronicle) is finally occurring tonight (Feb 6) at 8pm Eastern. Find the ensuing courtroom drama at the Supreme Sacred Tribunal of Halonic Inquisitory Doctrine. (on Balmung of course) If you can't make it, you'll be able to read about the aftermath in the Garnet Gazette.
  3. I'm excited to see that the Garnet Gazette has published their first edition, available here: http://garnetgazette.tumblr.com/
  4. The final edition of the Crystal Chronicle is now available here. You can read about the IC story behind its closure. Thank you everyone for your support over our 46 weeks of operation. Our FC is not going away, and though we will not be bringing back the newspaper, we intend to return with the trial of Editor-in-Chief Deidra Rose for libel against the state of Ishgard, probably in January. Some friends and colleagues of ours will be starting up the Garnet Gazette soon, so keep an eye out for that!
  5. A message from the Crystal Chronicle management team: Hello everyone, There's an announcement we wish to make on behalf of The Crystal Chronicle, an IC news publication for Eorzea - we will be shuttering our doors with Edition 45 (Dec 3rd). This is strictly an out of character announcement as we have plans formulating for a dramatic in character reason for this, so our publication does not reflect this decision as of yet. This decision was not an easy one, and we're happy to explain our reasoning, but as this is a general announcement, we'll summarize to say that our system was an unsustainable workload on the management team. This is a much deliberated-on decision and we delayed having the conversation for as long as we could. As much as we have loved doing this, it is time for us to move on. We are aware of the void this will leave, and we have taken steps to help promote and bolster a new publication, Garnet Gazette, with much the same goal and direction that TCC has maintained for almost a year. Right now, it's a small crew who is hoping to get help in starting this publication, and we are giving tips to help the new publication build to be even better than we were. If you're interested in helping them, please let us know and we can direct you to the right individuals. Currently, this team is made up of staff from TCC who are preparing to make the move after our story takes place over the next several weeks, but - as we always were - they are open to fresh ideas and fresh talent. Also an important bit, we have no intention of shutting down http://news.thecrystalchronicle.com/ - it will be maintained for the foreseeable future as an archive of the work that the staff did. 46 weeks of publishing (we only missed one week, and it was planned), and I (Deidra) wouldn't trade it for anything. I look forward to what comes next, and I hope you'll join me in supporting the projects that come from here on. - The Crystal Chronicle Management Team (Deidra Rose, Talman Chryses, Dae Fenris, Shio Maeda, and Swyreyn Keltiyrn)

  11. The Crystal Chronicle is hiring! Crystal Chronicle is a Free Company that produces The Crystal Chronicle, a weekly In-Character newspaper covering player-run events and other things of interest to the Balmung RP community. The aim is to help bring the community together by informing people about what other groups are doing and helping make connections. Being a member of usually has an IC and an OOC component -- you play the role of a certain staff member at the newspaper, and you also help produce the paper each week. We are an outward-looking FC, since producing the paper and roleplaying with the community are our main focuses. That said, we also have weekly internal RP events focusing on the art, writing, or security departments. We are hiring for all positions! You can have a primary and a secondary job if you want to do more than one thing. Here are the different jobs: Creative Division Writer Reporters, columnists. These people attend events, conduct interviews or do research, and write up articles. We are currently looking for someone interested in being a sports correspondent, covering events like the Grindstone. Artist Accompany reporters and take screenshots, sometimes putting together photo-journalism pieces alone. Some artists also actually draw things, but this is not required. Tipster People who seek out interesting stories and events and make contacts for the paper and report back to the department heads. Editor People who work with the writers to get their work ready for publication. A good job if you have a good sense of writing style and grammar. Operations Division Business Department These people take care of the Chronicle's accounts, legal affairs and advertising. Their main job at present is finding clients to advertise in the paper and making deals with them. This department needs staff urgently. Security Officer Eorzea is a dangerous place. These people accompany reporters and distributors to ensure their safety. Distributor People in charge of distributing the paper, especially on Sundays at our main distribution event, when we walk through the streets of major cities crying the news. Press Technician The people who maintain and run the presses. An RP-only designation at present, since the head of this department does all the layout for the paper himself.
