  1. Bump. Finding an FC that can suit both my OOC criteria while fitting for my character IC is hard. ;-;
  2. Hello! I'm new to RPing on FFXIV and newly returned to the game after 3ish years. If there is any room in this linkshell, I'd love an invite. IGN: I'ason Tia Thanks.

    Hello, I may be interested in joining this, but I am not yet wholly done with my character. Is it possible to lurk and see what it's about or contact you in-game to chat about how my character may fit into things? I have info about myself/the beginnings of my character down there. ::points at signature:: Thank you for any info. :> ~Kou
  4. Let's try this again. I managed to get some more experience in the game. Any FCs that have housing plots?
  5. Hi, Kasi pointed me in the direction of this linkshell. I'm more or less a complete newbie and my character is still in the forge, so to speak, but what I have makes me interested in this LS. I'ason is a Seeker who started out in a family/tribe, but since they dissolved, he'd been more or less on his own. He'd depended on his older brother for a while, but then they parted ways. As useless as he is, he managed to scrape by - I would think at this point in his life, he may have either encountered or come in contact with other wandering/nomadic people in the past - probably got his food stolen from him, or pushed out of a hunting area, or even, if any were kind enough to invite him, tagged along with one in hopes of an easy/easier chance at a meal. He doesn't hate city life, though. In fact, he's had some opportunities to taste city fineries and really likes it. Fashion, finery, dance, sparkly things.. It's in his nature to adapt well to wherever he is, and city 'civility' blends well with his preference to not fight and get punched in the face. He's indulgent, but not averse to having to rough it. Given a choice, like any cat, he likes a soft, warm bed.
  6. Wow, thanks very much for the info! I've definitely got places to start now.
  7. Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes and advice! I'll keep an eye out - currently being overwhelmed by the game and the preparations I need to make to try and break into RPing. I have had shockingly positive experiences so far just re-learning PvE. Maybe it's just my overexposure to the F2P or B2P games, or maybe it's because my suspicion that RP servers are more friendly in general, but after not knowing wtf I was doing bumbling through some Duties/Guildhests, I haven't had anyone yell at me or cuss me out in PMs yet. In fact, after I did something that resulted in a near-party-wipe, one of the members in my party went out of their way to let me know they should have figured I was new from my derp behavior and spoken up (after I apologized and said, 'I should have spoken up and said this was my first run'). I really, really like that. Might just need more time to pass, but so far, so good! I get such terrible performance anxiety in such situations. Anyway, once I settle a bit more with the fundamentals, I'd love to see if I can meet some of y'all!
  8. I'm not sure how successful this will be, but I thought I'd try. More info about me as an RPer in that link down in my signature there. ::points:: Since it's been several generations since I've last played this game (and I didn't do it thinking I'd RP), I am also in the process of trying to shift classes, earn money, learn what the heck to do with all the thousands of different kinds of items/equips/crafting mats, and, most importantly, learn how to acquire cosmetic stuff to actually dress/accessorize my character the way I want. Also, I'm working on that wiki character page thing - a little overwhelmed by the coding, as I've never made wiki pages before. Regarding my character, he's still in development while I'm learning the lore of the game in the context of RP. As such, I don't have a concrete backstory, but I know for sure he came from what once was a tight-knit family that more or less dispersed - partly due to internal strain and partly due to outside influences like beastmen being assholes or the Garlean Empire being assholes or.. just assholes in general. Personality-wise, I'ason .. well, doesn't seem to have any strengths, and he believes this perception. Other than being kind and sweet in general, he hates confrontations (pacifist, would rather run away than fight), loves the finer things in life, though isn't very good at making (or saving) money, and submissive sometimes to the point of others' disgust. In a pinch, however, he can be a formidable archer/pugilist. He's also a decent dancer; where he has skills, they're likely not anything miqo'te traditionally value, especially in a male miqo'te. For example, no one believes he'll ever be a nuhn (he's a Seeker, btw). In fact, he doesn't even aspire to it and is perfectly fine being a tia the rest of his life. He often gets teased for being very 'female ,' though he would scowl if he heard; he hates the concept of 'female should be this and male should be that.' If anyone follows astrology, I consider him very Piscean with a streak of Libra. He's attracted to his opposite: where he sees himself flighty, wishywashy, and weak, he admires those who are strong - not necessarily physically strong, but strong of mind or character or convictions. --- With all this in mind, I'm looking for a mature-themed FC or LS or group that can possibly build into a meaningful friendship with a 30-something-year-old full-time professional who wants to get my creaky back back into RP. Obviously, with the description of the character I gave, I don't think he'll fit into anything evil-aligned unless he got captured or coerced/enslaved. A group that can accommodate a Seeker player with a casual schedule who will probably RP 50ish% of the time in-game and whose goals are player and character bonds would be great. Thanks for any responses, tips, or suggestions!
  9. I. Basic Info Characters: I'ason Tia Primary character: I'ason Tia Linkshells: -- Primary RP linkshell: None. I have an FC with whom I RP more macro-adventure stuff - Ardent Lotus. [*] II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I don't know what this means. I'm a casual player (in my 30s with a full time job) and I'm not always IC, as I like to enjoy PvE stuff when my brain isn't functional enough after work to think about complex stuff like RP. When I am IC, though, I don't do all that taboo stuff like godmodding or shitting on the lore or blending IC/OOC or doing anything to other characters without prior consent, etc. Views on RP combat and injuries: From passing a cold to full-on torture, as long as OOC parties consent and it's not completely non-lore-friendly, anime exaggerated, effortlessly-throwing-trains-on-people "combat," I'm cool with it. As far as actually RPing combat, I'd like to think I'm decent, but it's not a passion of mine. My main character is a pacifist/chicken, but I've played more fight-y characters before. Views on IC romance: Love it, as long as it's well-developed. I tend to lean more toward dysfunctional romance or deep relationships between two very flawed, well-thought-out characters. Also, I prefer same-sex romances - I just feel they tend to fall into less tropes that annoy me. Romance, to me, also doesn't necessarily mean the typical stuff - platonic relationships or soulmate-y ties are good, too. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I enjoy them. I feel they're great for character development - to expand their networks, to help with immersion and such - but at the end of the day, I'd prefer not to juggle with 101 different character ties and just focus on a few ongoing, deep relationships. If this family member or best friend or whatnot has significant ties and shared experiences to my character which shaped them both, then I think I could enjoy as much as the romance stuff. Views on lore: I do try to generally stay lore-friendly, but if there isn't any explicit lore around something, I believe in some manner of freedom of interpretation. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I tend to keep chat outside the game system private unless I've developed close enough ties with the people I RP with to bring things to other platforms like IMs or Discord, etc. [*] III. Other Info Country:US Timezone:-8 GMT (Pacific) Contact info:PM me or respond to my threads here for now. I don't like giving out more private contacts until I know the person more.
  10. Thank you very much, everyone. I've decided to cough up the cash to transfer to Balmung. Spent the last hour or so giving myself a headache trying to remember just how to navigate, do quests, and fight, haha. I think after getting a 50 Monk, I was aiming for a Paladin, then Bard, going by the classes I had levels in.. I think I'll go search for a.. LS/FC or whatnot. Thanks again!
  11. Thank you! Yes, I believe so (now that I finally found out where on my account I can see my character info). It looks like I'd either started to create or created a character on Balmung, too, but my Mi'qote was the one I played to max level. I guess I'll just have to see about a transfer if I feel good enough about this game! Sounds like I should look for Ultros RP guilds starting out?
  12. Hello! OOC handle's Kou. I played FF14:ARR for the free month close to when it relaunched as ARR in.. 2013?, but then stopped because I was fiercely anti-sub. Been seriously thinking about subscribing, though, because I've learned that I spend way too much on the free-to-play games' cash shops. So why the sudden urge to come back? I've had the hankering before, but SQUENIX's account retrieval kicked my ass when I upgraded phones and lost the token thing. This time, though, I have come out victorious and got my account back! In the interim, I've played a bunch of other MMOs: Guild Wars 2, TERA, Black Desert Online.. and most recently, I'd finished Final Fantasy 15 (long time FF fan), and the nostalgia hit me HARD. I wanted to be a part of an FF world again so bad, and what better one that lives and breathes in the MMO fashion? RP-wise, I would say I'm fairly experienced - almost 20 years' worth, but it had always been mostly in private small group, IM or journal or forum formats - rarely in MMO or game format. I'm also exceedingly not good in large groups, sooo.. I think I'm hoping to find a small, tight-knit group of older people to RP with (I'm in my 30s - work full time, etc. etc.). I had a character. I don't remember what server he was on, but he was a cat dude thing. Mi'qote, I think? I really adored him and will likely dust him off as my RP character. :3 Hope to see some people in-game once it gets all updated!
