  1. That sounds great! I'm a little busy until Sunday with a big server event on WoW, but I still like to hop in and add people - I'll shoot you a friend request and a PM so we can work something out!
  2. That's always struck me as so silly, personally - the writing/RP experience/ability equating to how accepting people will be of you, but alas~ I guess being relatively new to FFXIV RP, even though I know the cultural implications of what a Nunh is, I don't really consider them to have a lot of power. But then again, I do play a character that kinda threw up the middle finger to all of that, so that probably has a bit to do with it! So I see and understand your point!
  3. What I also find interesting here is, if you play a male miqo'te with the last name "Nunh", the harrassment seems to be able to rival what female ooc/ic players can experience in the shape of nasty tells. My general opinion is that Balmung used to be way worse than it is, presently - You can go into the Quicksand on a female character without getting a single creepy tell, these days. As for OOC aggression from men, I've seen the people who have strong opinions about it but haven't has the (dis)pleasure of interacting with them more than once. As I see it, they are a minority - that can just be a bit vocal. It's nothing I'd compare to ending up with a stalker-type that is out to manipulate you ooc for various reasons, including the standard guy-wants-gamer-girl. So I think if girls want to play guys to get away from that kind of harassment it's still a fairly effective shield. What the heck, are you serious? Lmao, WHY? Do people get weirdly defensive of others writing as a literal 'alpha' male type of character? That is such a strange thing - being more defensive of Nunh as opposed to Tia. They're all dude characters in the end.
  4. If you're a woman playing a man (especially a hot woman) the guys that are hostile are usually interested in you OOC but can't progress it through IC bleed because they don't play gay characters. Cause I know several girls who play guys and I haven't had any reason to hate them for it. Cause it doesn't bother me. Lol I know in her case she is very attractive and plays a very attractive mostly-straight male character. We ASSUME that it's jealousy on the male player parts, but I never really considered the OOC interest not being able to be progressed IC. That's an interesting (and creepo) thought. Huh!
  5. I've always seen this question pop up and I hear answers from alllllllll different sides and different types of people. Personally, I am a woman and I write for women more than I do for men, but I never really gave it any thought. I know aesthetically I find women more pleasing and if I'm going to be sitting in a game to RP, I want something nice to look at - so I'm sure that's a good chunk of the reasoning, at least for me. An interesting note is that I have friends that are women that play men due to poor treatment they received on their female characters. Though they also say as a woman playing a man (a very well liked one), they get a lot of hostility OOC from men. Anyone else experience this?
  6. Recently got my apartment all set up and finally took some pics of it, so~
  7. My first MMO character was for SWTOR - Es'merelda Danen, whom I've semi-recreated in WoW and now in FFXIV (by staying with a base theme and manipulating a good chunk of it in a different way each time). I always refer to her affectionately as my baby and I p much love her dearly. While her story more or less ended, she didn't die, so she's teeeechnically my oldest, longest-surviving character based on years played. If we're talking about oldest, longest-surviving in THEIR years, I think it's my villain sin'dorei over on WoW, Karsteth. He's over two centuries old and he's not dead...yet.
  8. I love me some pirate RP~ While my character isn't on GREAT terms with most pirates, we should try and work something out if you'd like to!
  9. I will def keep an eye out! Thanks so much!
  10. This is what I default to a lot of the time. For age, height, weight, it's sometimes easier to just use vague "young adult, average, thin" etc.
  11. Hey, I recognize you!! You were a blast to watch the first night I came and I'm glad we got to run into each other again (even if my character was a bit short and then skittered off with Rhysa). Your tavern nights are very, very fun and I've made sure to spread the word to friends. :> Hope to see you at the next!
  12. Hello! Thanks so much for the reply - Es'mena absolutely LOVES books! I should be free sometime this week, so I will look for you and pop you a whisper! I'd love a good reading spot for her! Thanks so much! ♥
  13. Hello! It was recommended to me to make a post here in Making Connections, and so here I am! My main (and only) character is Es'mena Nenda and she incorporates my insane love for pirates. However, she's not technically a pirate herself...which is where I'm wondering if anybody would like to help or join in! The way I have her story written is that she used to be a pirate but was more or less blacklisted/her reputation was ruined at sea, so she went to the air instead. She is now an airship captain (through some finagling and story~) and focuses mainly on smuggling rather than piracy. But she dreams of returning to the sea sometime before she dies or is too old to do so. So! I'm wondering if anybody is interested in any of the following: 1. Business partners! Need goods shipped? The air is the way to go! Maybe they can be new business partners or established! She also transports passengers as well, so maybe your character regularly uses her as a mode of transportation! 2. Old ties - bad! Pirate captains at sea might know her name. While the only charge I've drummed up (partially due to laziness T u T) has been killing her own captain in a failed mutiny attempt, I've written that much worse has been said about her to earn her that blacklisted brand. PLEASE feel free to make up your own heinous rumors about what she might have done that got her booted off the seas. Maybe your character genuinely believes it! Might be fun to run into one another for some good old fashioned antagonistic RP! 3. Old ties - good! Maaaaaaybe you're a pirate captain that thinks it's a little fishy (no pun intended) that she suddenly turned on her captain - and that the other rumors sound really weird. We can always run into each other and talk it out! She's looking to try and change her reputation back, so it would definitely offer an in for some story and RP! If you are interested in any of this (or have an idea for something different!), please feel free to hit me up!
