  1. I've been trying the beta on my work laptop. Have a new 256GB SSD waiting for the official release (which I'm currently downloading) so I'm upgrading my home machine in the next couple of days.
  2. On a slight varation my Keeper (Taeh Marchand)was raised by an Elezen family, perhaps this isn't quite so common but even if it was I thought of the idea and characters background without being aware of this and therefore I'm okay with it.
  3. Although the Free Company is undergoing some re-organization at the moment our guild RP story continues. Read the latest update here.
  4. We're having a bit of a re-organization at the moment. So please bear with us if we don't respond to queries and such things as quick as you hoped. Thanks[/u]
  5. In light of some recent inquiries I'd just like to make it clear that we are a Free Company/LS that puts RP first and foremost. So we won't accept applications from people that won't roleplay. Thanks
  6. The old Europa2 linkshell has now been disbanded as we appear to have caught all the actives from there. Waiting a bit longer for the original Europa channel. As mentioned in the original post if you need an invite to the new linkshell please ask.
  7. For some people, a journey is but the spatial transition from one place to another. For The Travellers Guild it is so much more. To travel is to experience, and to experience is to grow. To grow, reach new heights and to realise your dreams is what The Travellers Guild is all about. At The Travellers Guild we know, that each person's journey is as different and unique as the snowflakes of Coerthas. A journey can be of a spiritual nature; a pilgrimage. It can be a path of learning, going from novice to master, or it can be the realisation of a lifelong goal. For some, a journey is simply the pleasure of the open road and the thrill of adventure, while for others, it is the road from rags to riches and glory. Whatever the nature of your path may be, you need not walk it alone. To join The Travellers Guild is to gain a sponsor, a network and a group of friends. The Travellers Guild offers aid, teaching, training, companionship and in some instances capital, to help you on your path. Equally, we seek members to aid the guild in providing these services. If one path has come to an end, The Travellers Guild can aid you in finding a new. In turn, The Travellers Guild asks, that you carry our seal with pride and behave in a manner, that does not belittle the guild. Crime and ill intent will not be tolerated. At times, the guild may call upon you, to aid in guild business. This can include odd jobs on behalf of the guild, such as couriering, scouting, exploration or escortation of merchants. Similarly the guild may call on you to aid other members of the guild on their path or if they are in trouble. While The Travellers Guild is no military organisation, we may rally in times of dire need, to aid where we can. Members of The Travellers Guild are connected by linkshell and occasional meetings. A courtesy that may be extended to close friends and allies of the guild. Should you wish to join The Travellers Guild, contact one of our custodians in either Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah or Gridania. May Oschon guide you onto safe paths. (Acting) High Custodian / Mascot - U'tara Taki Custodians - Taeh Marchand, Mackenzie Hawk. Avalt Laguz, Flynn Rosenberg
  8. Time to Consolidate! Due to the massive influx of players at the start we had to expand to a second linkshell. Now the player base has settled down we're left with a core of active players unfortunately split between the two, and a lot of inactives. This means that around half the people miss what's being said in the other linkshell when one of the leader isn't online to echo it across. Sadly there are no tools to tell us who the inactives are to remove them from Europa to make space for the active in Europa2. Still we have a plan to bring these two groups of EU RPers together but please bear with us whilst we do this. Create a new linkshell called NewEuropa Advertise in Europa / Europa2 and invite active players to the new linkshell Rename Europa to OldEuropa Rename NewEuropa to Europa Wait a few weeks to make sure all active players have transfered then disband Europa / Europa2 Thanks for reading.
  9. So the sensible solution (are you listening Square Enix) is for Scholar to get an ability like Cleric Stance but in reverse. So Arcanist/Summoners put points in INT and then Scholar's cast Scholar Stance which swaps INT / MIND reduces dmg and increases healing. *heads off to the suggestions forum*
  10. I can't remember where I saw about using Cleric Stance but now you've mentioned this it's made me think. Even at level 42 the difference on casting Physick with and without Cleric Stance as a Scholar is quite noticeable. With Cleric Stance the heal is 360-370 Without Cleric Stance the heal is 430-440 Opps
  11. So I'm considering a short city break in New York the second week in November with my wife and adult son, my daughter is already elsewhere in the States visiting friends. I've been to the Las Vegas and Florida before, but never New York. So during a 4 day trip what are your suggestions for must see attractions? Also any other ideas, advice, comments, suggestions. For example, I'm looking at hotels near Central Park but would it be better to stay further out and travel in?
  12. I thought, and I could be wrong, that arcanists put all their points into Intelligence and then used the Conjuror spell Cleric Stance to swap Int and Mind when a Scholar.
  13. Can I suggest you consider European based Linkshells and Free Companys. There is an OOC Linkshell - Europa If you like a lot of RP with your PvE I'd also recommend The Travellers Guild. Hope this helps.
  14. Mrrshaw, good to see you, you ol' tiger you. Nice to see you sticking to the cat theme  You might not recognise the board tag but I did have a few characters called Taexxx but you will undoubtedly remember Kaylel the Coercer member of Vlosllye on AB. Nice to see that you've made your way to FFXIV:ARR. As Rinh says you definateyly need to get into the Europa Linkshell. A LS is a custom chat channel in game where as a Free Company is equivalent to a guild.
  15. 3am Eastern is 8am UK or 9am Central European, so you may find some early risers to RP with :bouncy:
  16. I'm not quite sure how a question in the original post about those LS/FC will a mass following turned into a debate, almost arguement, over whether it's better to RP one character or several. @OP - I'd suggest looking at the Linkshell Hall here and checking on the Lodestone how active those that interest you are.
  17. Yay for Balmung's premier EU roleplaying Free Company.
  18. Welcome to the RPC  As a fellow EU roleplayer, or person who plays during EU prime time, you may find the following threads of interesting. Europa - OOC LS for EU community The Travellers Guild - RP Free Company (Guild) Eorzean Union - PvE Free Company (Guild) but not listed on these forums.
  19. In case you missed it, read Rinh's reply in the other thread - http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=4854&pid=61163#pid61163
  20. Yes there is a growing EU community on Balmung with a lot of roleplayers in it. There is an OOC Linkshell (Europa) for arranging RP and similar stuff. It has grown to the point of having to start a second one to fit everyone in. There are also at least two Free Companies that I'm aware of: Eorzen Union - Doesn't have an entry in the Linkshell Hall but is discussed in this thread The Travellers Guild
  21. I'm quite adaptable and will fit in with the rules of which ever Free Companies or LinkShells I belong to. However personally I like to get to know the players behind the characters that I'm playing with. Therefore I like there to be an OOC channel for members of a roleplay group (FC or LS) for this purpose. This channel can then be used for those discussions that are difficult to fit within an IC conversation. That doesn't mean you can't use an IC conversation to mention abilities. So asking a THM to put a beastkin to sleep so that your team can have an easier fight is something you could do IC. If you specifically thinking of the /party channel then I'd consider that an OOC channel unless agreed in advance otherwise. Whilst you're standing together, about to fight some big bad boss, you can use /say for IC planning.
  22. It's my firm belief that the main reason they do it is to generate a reaction from us. Obviously they're hoping for us to rage at them and they probably consider they have won if we do. Even if we respond politely and calmly they have still succeeded in disrupting our roleplay. Why do they do this? Probably a whole raft of reasons but high on the list is that they have nothing better to do at that time and trying to get a reaction from us makes them believe their efforts had an effect. So whilst at times it might be very hard, I strongly recommend you totally ignore them. Eventually they will get bored, they don't usually have the greatest attention span, and move on. If they really don't leave you alone after 5-10 minutes, I'm thinking of someone who has started a long crafting run as possibly happened here, then make it appear that you've brought your roleplay session to an end, then move off and if necessary gather elsewhere and continue.
  23. Roleplayers can sadly get grief occasionally from non-roleplayers, as discussed this thread. However if I understand you correctly you're saying the hate is from other roleplayers, could you clarify? Also, without asking you to go into too much specific or name people, I think we'd need to understand in more detail exactly what occurred. In my experience the vast majority of roleplayers are friendly and welcoming, especially to new roleplayers.
  24. We did our first Free Company dungeon run today, yay us!
