So! Considering it's been a good month since release, I figured it's time to raise this thread from the depths of the backlog ocean and see if anyone is interested in these! I posted this back before release, and the site has grown considerably since. I've been feeling the itch to post to my blog more, so having others to follow and be followed by would be sweet. B]

So, looking through this thread and there's a lot of generic talk about people BEING offended, but there's very little talk about what's actually being said that is offensive? Because there's a world of difference between the two, and we should be focusing on what's actually being said before any rational discussion is being had. Like if someone's getting mad when you say fuck, yes, that's a little silly. But if people are offended at you for making a rape joke or making a joke of something massively triggering to someone - then yes, actually, they should be offended and you're kind of a butt for going "DON'T BE OFFENDED." Because - you know. There's some things we should not be making fun of.

Yo yo! Paerlwyn here rests around the 46-55ish area. I haven't preciously picked an age, mostly because I'm not aware there's an official life expectancy for the separate races. So I keep it relative to us. She's still very busy though, or at least tries to be. Technically she's a retired entrepreneur and adventurer, but that's been kind of a drag on her mental health and soon enough that whole casket is going to blow. She's a wanderlust champion and a bandit at heart.

See, that doesn't work at all once the game ages a month or two, and we begin to see inactive accounts. Characters that just kinda stay in the server databases until such time the player logs back in.

If it's still possible to contribute, I'd be more than happy to chip in once my grants come in before September! Until then, I'll be waving my flags in full support! -
Oh, Paladins are more tanking through mitigation where as Marauders have obscene health pools and regen.
-
Nothing. Warrior is just an advanced form of Marauder, like most of the other jobs.
-
After leveling MRD to 20, I think they're suboptimal DPS because of their threat. All of their heavy hitting combos involve putting out intense amounts of threat, as that's how MRD's tank. You would have a really hard time outputting decent DPS while not pulling off your tank. I imagine Warrior's will be the same. Edit: What I'm trying to say, they're pure tanks.

It's because the default posting method automatically hides the format tags when you're posting, and displays everything already formatted, as if it were a normal document in word for example. Which is nice and all, but when you're trying to actually do things beyond just writing, it gets annoying.
-
Either do a quick edit, or change your posting options to MyCodeEditor.
-
Time to get excited, as this can only mean P4 starts very soon after. B]
-
Make sure to change your posting options to something a little less conflicting. I'd recommend MyCodeEditor. The default posting mode auto formats in your post box, which can make things a headache since you can't see any of the tags.

Sylvanas kinda has her own problems going on, mostly in her character direction. Like you can have two kinds of female leaders in Warcraft lore: The foil for the male. Or batshit insane. I've not really been a fan of her direction for a while, mostly the whole thing with Blizzard setting her up to be Lich King 2.0. Which I feel is kinda counter productive to the development she's had since WC3. BUT THAT. Is a whole 'nother topic for an entirely different forum.

The more notable fact surrounding this phenomenon is that their worth as characters is not dependent on some male companion/lover/mentor/friend/whatever. Oh my god this. Like, even if we look beyond the typical aura of misogyny and sexism present within the industry and community, there's just this weird trend in MMO's to -always- under represent female characters. Just look at WoW. Tyrande -still- hasn't done a -single- -thing-. In fact, ever since her lover's come back, she's almost mechanically stopped being presented as the Night Elf faction leader. So yes. I like this and I don't want to see it change.

It should work if you exactly copy and paste the code for the table, and just replace the "EXAMPLE" texts with your own. Edit: Make sure you're using Mycodeeditor or No Editor when you're posting. You can set this in your options.

Roleplaying games often have a heavy focus around combat and the acquiring of loot. Most enemies have a loot table that's attached to them within the data, which determines the drop chances of particular items on the table. When a monster is slain, the game makes a roll for the number of items dropped and then for which items on the table do drop. However, a player character usually does not have such loot tables assigned to them! But, for a hypothetical moment, what if we did?

I can't be the only one who has one! For those who don't know, inspiration blogs are fun blogs that are essentially dedicated to things which evoke, inspire or otherwise represent our characters. They're often abstract in nature and are helpful in getting into your characters headspace! Tumblr is commonly used for them, as being able to reblog to your Character Tumblr makes it super easy to use and do. If it turns out that a lot of people do in fact make them, I'll totally manage a master list of them here on the OP! For now, I share with you mine: http://paerlwyn.tumblr.com/ A warning: There are a few NSFW materials on that blog. They have been tagged as such though, so as long as you're browsing SFW, they shouldn't appear to you.

I think this forum needs more writing prompts. For those who don't know, writing prompts are fun little exercises that can help refine or develop your characters. They're an excuse to write something that could otherwise be unthinkable within your canon. Expect more from me in the coming weeks, continually getting more involved. With that out of the way, LET'S GO: If your character had no immediate responsibilities or pressing matters to attend to for an entire day, how would they spend their new found day off? Do they feel good about having the time away from everything? Would nothing really change? Be as descriptive as you can! Rita herself doesn't get many days to herself. If her personal space is not being violated by Aleyna, than her time is being spent chasing for the thrill of adventure and glory. However, she is a simple woman at heart, and if presented with an ability to just get away from her usual days, she would happily plonk herself into a nice relaxing and scented bath. It's not often a woman of her lot in life gets to enjoy such luxury, so she would prepare herself to soak in the tub for an exorbitant amount of time. At least two novels, a wine bottle, good reading light and an assortment of fruits to help complete the sense of decadence. If someone where to come looking for her, she would try her best to pretend as if she wasn't home. She's coming out of that thing like a raisin, yo.

Knife hacking away at the tethers, an Elezen freed a lone panicking Chocobo from the cart it was bound to, which burnt so beautifully in the setting sun, the crimson flames mixing in with the orange overcast. The bird took no pauses, kicking off on its feet and fleeing into the slowly approaching forest night. It would likely not live long, but they felt that the beast deserved a better death than being tethered to a broken caravan, burnt to the core like the goods it had ferried. The silver haired Elezen padded away, before the lick of the flames could catch on her cloak, her attention turned to her Roegadyn companion. She used to complain about the loss of money in destroying what they take, describing the amount of gil that could have lined their pockets from selling the loot. But now she just lets the dark skinned Roegadyn watch the flames eat the gold and blue banner that had draped over the cart. Smoke circled high above, a crimson blackness to paint through the orange tinted sky as if it were oil, the light of the flames circling the outcrop of forest it had met its end in. The bodies that were to be left behind would not go unattended for long. They would always do it this way, when they encountered a caravan painted with the blue and gold banner of axe and crow. Those who drove it would be given their chance to flee, and those who stayed would be put down, their corpses to witness the blaze they would set to their caravan, caring little for what belongings remained onboard. By the time someone could discover the carnage, the Elezen and Roegadyn would be long gone, slipping into the unknown. The Elezen had long since given up stopping these events, simply pitching in as if it were her dues to her partner, who always charged in with little mercy in mind. She did not complain, even long afterward, when they were both safely secure in their own holdings, of the dark disposition her companion would fall into. It was almost as if the giant bandit felt some guilt for her actions, the way she would stick to her books, draped over a bed in a corner, the only sound to be heard from her being the scratch of her quill against parchment. (( This is to be the go to place for Rita's writings, drawerings and skidoodlings that she places into her journal. This thing will mostly be a mess of things regarding her current IC happenstance. I'll update the OP with post links for every update. )) (( Expect updates ASAP <3 ))

Oh god yes I love prompts! Rita is a fairly robust and tough world wanderer, so... Paerlwyn "Rita" Guldbloewyn's Inventory Adventurer's Backpack A large backpack slung over Rita's shoulders, filled to the brim with required essentials. A flask Flint and Steel A small assortment of tea leaves A small bowl and matching grinder, well worn from use. An aged tea infuser Bed Roll An assortment of maps 50 Feet of Rope, coiled up to be compact A few light cooking pots Waterskin A small calligraphy set A few leather backed journals and books, in various degrees of completion Hunting knives A steamy romance novel or two Satchel Bag Hanging from her shoulder, this bag is very rarely parted from Rita. She usually keeps it on her at all times, carrying smaller items inside. Up to three journal books can often be stashed inside. They share similiar qualities as those present in her backpack. One is always present however, and is much smaller, able to neatly fit into both her palms when open. Wrapped charcoal Waterskin A Dagger On Her Immediate Person Items either present on her body, pockets or otherwise stashed on her Two daggers Her greataxe Coin Purse, strung into a low hanging necklace that neatly hides the bag in her cleavage and away from prying eyes. Traveling clothes and armour What are their keepsakes that push them forward? Rita constantly keeps her journals near her person at all times. She is constantly filling them with tidbits during her travels. The pages within detail things as simple as sketches, to full blown and detailed maps. When each book is completed, she places them in order of completion in a safe and secure place. She one day plans to compile them together into a legible autobigoraphy in her eldest years. How much room is there for things to collect from the wild? She's got enough to keep any trinkets or a weapon or two in her travels, if on foot. She is prone to detail locations of things she cannot immediately take with her in her journals, however, and will make a return trip if she thinks it's appropriate. How much Gil would they carry on their person? She tries to keep at least enough for a full week's worth of bed and food. If they have a chocobo they would haul...? If she has access to a Chocobo, Rita would not really change her inventory management much, outside of leaving her heavier things on the bird when she is on foot acting as a ranger. What kind of things would they leave behind? Out of her possessions, the items in her backpack are the least value to her. If it came down to it, she is willing to drop the backpack. But she will fight tooth and nail for her satchel, for her own reasons.

I think this is an important note to take. The devs are unlikely to make the game anymore complicated than they already have, and introducing multiple weapon types for every class is counter intuitive for everyone involved. If anything, we should be expecting every new class to come with a new weapon type and a new job, and vice versa. I'm personally hoping Greatsword leads into Dark Knight, myself.

Oh I wouldn't mind getting an invite! Getting to know the regulars and what not. PrissPrincessPeckerpunch is my Skype.

I really hope they're implemented. It makes managing large group RP scenes MUCH easier and less of a headache. Though I imagine if they don't, someone will devise an addon for it.

Hey kidddddies. I'm some dork who's been pleasantly surprised by the quality that FF14 has put on with the beta. So surprised, she decided she may as well invest into a whole new community and try out RP again. I will most likely be playing my Roegadyn Paerlwyn Guldbloewyn, otherwise known as Rita. I mostly hail from WoW, but I've kinda been around the block in a lot of RP formats, so I'm fairly comfortable.
