Hello and welcome, both to the RPC and to Balmung!
-
We have some trolls on Balmung too, I choose to ignore them mentally and keep playing the game. I have had a few whisper me while I am RPing and fishing in the open; that I should move out of my mom's basement and get a girlfriend. It happens in every community; best thing to do is just push forward and make sure that you don't allow the pve'ers overthrow something as wonderful as your role playing. I personally love the random/non-rp names we see, my husband and I like to sit here and laugh about a few of them. The ones that are sad, are the ones that lack all imagination like a Lalafell named Dwarf Midget but at least we have something to snicker about while rping

What Item Represents Your Character?
Versillis Capulet replied to Gar's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Sulie's would more than likely be -
((Much is left out in-between for several reasons 1) I like to surprise people I rp with, girl needs some mystery yo. 2) I am still working out all the kinks)) The Beginning…… Sulie sat just under the canopy of trees that covered the small pond. Breathing deep she looked over to Tonton with a broad grin “Tonti, how come we never go anywhere? You know I have heard that there are ships that can carry many people through to new places like Limsa Lomsa.” Tonton rolled his eyes as he looked over to Sulie with a less than amused glance “Look…you may like adventure but I prefer the safety that only Gridania can provide. If you want to go explore than by all means please do; but I bet you don’t make it past the Black Forest before you turn around with your ears tucked.” Cheeks flaring red, Sulie reached over to push her companions straw hat down firmly on his head causing the brim to cover his eyes “Oh Tonti, you fear everything, some day you will hear tales of me and my adventures.” Leaning back on her hands she dangled her feet over the rock they sat on; watching as the fish swam in circles slowly. With a loud sigh Tonton reached to give Sulie a playful jab “I don’t fear anything or anyone, I have more fear of your cooking than the world that lays beyond the gates. Oh, and don’t call me Tonti; we’re not kids anymore.” Grinning even wider, Sulie leaned forward to reach into the water and splash Tonton “You may not be, but I’d like to think I still have a childlike way about me.” Her eyes grew wide as straw hat and fishing poles flew her way causing her to splash into the water; Tonton quickly on her heels. The Middle…… Sulie reached for a bucket of gryshal greens; the chirping from the young Chocobos making it hard to hear her own thoughts as she tossed the greens to each in turn. Straightening up; she ran a gloved hand across her brow stopping mid motion to stare into the distance; trying to shield her eyes from the glaring sun. Riders approached, the sounds of the Barding adoring their mounts clanging to her ears before she heard the first whoops and hollers of others gathered. Dropping the bucket she picked up her skirts jumping over fences to make her way to where the others were gathered, climbing up on a rock nearby to get a better view of the riders. Near the back was a small Lalafell, Tonton had come home finally! Waving her arms widely Sulie leapt from the rock, running full speed to jump tossing Tonton from his mount causing both to roll on the ground. “Sulie! I knew you missed me, but you will break my bones if you do not plan on letting me go soon enough!” Leaning back Sulie looked to her old friend with worry and happiness all in one “Oh I’m sorry! You must tell me of your adventures, any broken bones to worry about? Did you kill pirates? What about women, there must have been women?” Her excitement was barely contained as she scurried to stand, helping Tonton up in the process. Tonton chuckled as he viewed his friend, “All will be shared. You have to give me a moment to breathe. Come we’ll put Kravor in his stall, get him some food and go have a drink at the inn. I’ll tell you all about it then.” The Present….. It had been five years, the riders still came and went. Tonton was no longer with them. Sulie found herself going to his grave every day to talk with him; much like she had in the old days. She recounted his stories he had shared with her on that first day of returning as well as many others they had shared. Though the flowers she placed there were still fresh, she always brought a new bouquet to adorn his gravesite. On this particular day a clump of bluebells were held tightly as she made her way to his stone. “Oh Tonton, you should have seen the riders today; they still look magnificent though I must admit seeing them now is not the same as when you were part of their troupe. I miss you….our conversations and the fun we had.” Setting the flowers in the small pot by the headstone, she rocked back on her heels; working to get comfortable on the ground. “Kravor is getting older…he is a good Chocobo still; very brilliant and adventurous; just like his master. To think you’d be the one who would finally find your way out of this place both in life and through death.” A slight sniffle escaped her as her voice caught in her throat. “This will be the last time I see you Tonton…I’m leaving Gridania, it’s not the same without you, I miss you and everything here reminds me of you. I hope you do not mind but I will be taking Kravor with me. He has been cooped up for far too long; the travel will do him good.” “I plan on having Servi watch over you though, she has promised to continue bringing flowers to your grave. You know if I didn’t know better, I would think she had a crush on you, I believe she pines for you still.” Glancing away from the grave; she reached into her pocket withdrawing a small necklace made of clamshell and fishing twine. “I want you to keep this. If I return I will want it back though I’m trusting you to keep it safe for me. Tonton…please forgive me, I should have gone with you that day, maybe then this would never have happened.” With that she wrapped the necklace around the headstone before standing up pack in hand. Turning she made her way to Kravor quickly pulling herself into the saddle before making her way off in the direction of the Black Forest. To be continued…..

I. Basic Info Characters: Sulie Spellouise, Calliopie Dankin, Dagney Taggert Primary character: Sulie Spellouise Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell:N/A ((Haven't found one as of yet)) II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy RP minus in dungeons. I can do it on occasion however I find it extremely hard to heal/tank and type. Views on RP combat and injuries: I love either /roll or creative RP combat. As for injuries as long as it's nothing that will kill my character I am totally cool with it, the bloodier battles always seem more fun anyways. Most of my characters are conflict based as they can be very opinionated and stubborn. Views on IC romance: I'm up in the air on this one. I'm not very comfortable with ERP but have no problem with people who do take part in that side of RP. I'm more a fade to black RPer and prefer to keep ties to others as limited as possible. Seen way to many IC romantic relationships get transferred to OOC, people get hurt and all of a sudden the RP community turns on one or both individuals. Besides just so it is out there; I have three kids and a husband who I am madly in love with so keep that in mind Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Love it, accept it, think it is a great way of getting a character's backstory out there. If anyone wanted to do a collaborative RP with me I would hope they ask first but I am totally down should the idea be feasible for my character(s) Views on lore: I view Lore as guidance more than something that has to be adhered to 100% I could totally see a Hume baby brought up in a Miquote tribe or visa versa and so on. I prefer to keep to the Lore as much as possible but as long as people aren't godmodding or metagaming I tend to go with the flow of the RP situation. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I would like to find a totally IC Linkshell at some point so I could rp in LS chat on the go, however in /party for dungeons I keep as OOC as possible unless otherwise specified, in /say I will always be IC and in general public channels such as the level/trade chats always OOC unless I am running an event of sorts. III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: EST Contact info: Always add me if you enjoyed an RP or would like to RP with me, however you can also reach me on Steam as Femgame, just don't be surprised if I say "Who is this and where are you from" [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]

Perspectives of Crystalline LS - Honest Feedback Sought
Versillis Capulet replied to Eva's topic in RP Discussion
I may be new to RPC but I am a 1.0 player and actually did see y'all milling about from time to time. It you have some concerns regarding your "image" as a LS or RPers the best thing to do it try to be as interactive with everyone, not just your friends, LS mates or forum buddies. When I did see a member of Crystalline running around or RPing I kind of shrunk into the background, mainly because I was a tiny little Lalafell who was easy to ignore anyways and secondly because y'all were a bit frightening. Like looking at a huge stone wall you may or may not be able to climb and thinking if you fall you would die. Perceptions and rumors are hard to outrun but what everyone needs to think is that FFXIV:ARR is technically a re-release, therefore any bad blood, perceptions and rumors should be thrown out; allowing Crystalline and any other LS to come into ARR with a clean slate. FYI: I will still be a tiny little Lalafell and this time I will make her more mouthy should I run into one of y'all's members -
Thank you for the welcome Scarlet and everyone else. So far he has taken an interest in the forums, says they are really well organized and so on. One thing RP servers have going for them in his eyes; is that the community always seems top of the line, less trolling and a more stable economy. I may not have to do anything he seems to be talking himself into it more or less

For me personally it's hard to answer this. My original 1.0 character ended up getting moved to Balmung when the servers were merged. This did not bother me as I am a full time RPer and part time Raider. Now in Beta 3 I did in fact make a lowbie on Gilgamesh to see if there was any entry level RP happening at all in Gridania, however (probably as I started in the morning) there was hardly anyone there, it was like a ghost town. You could do what I plan on doing which is come phase 4 looking at both servers and judging the population, most people who plan on rolling on a server will likely do so in the betas, so it wouldn't hurt to make a lowbie on each and see which one seems to have a nice pop. Now Balmung will have a larger stabilized base of rpers as it carries over from 1.0 but still, Gilgamesh has the potential to be very nice indeed.

What... is in your character's bag? Gyshal Greens to feed Lupi, Hungry Chocobos are sad Chocobos. Maple Logs for starting a fire, Some fine food for myself and of course a musical instrument for those lonely times. What do they consider essentials for survival? Wood, food and clean water. What are their keepsakes that push them forward? A small compass her father gave her to always find her way home How much room is there for things to collect from the wild? Plenty of room, however she prefers to carry several jars to put oddity in, so her pack is considered fragile. How much Gil would they carry on their person? No less than 400 however this would be tucked away all over her person so thieves wouldn't run off with everything. If they have a chocobo they would haul...? Blankets a tent and fishing pole, never know when you may need to camp. What kind of things would they leave behind? Bedding, dishes and minor things like that. What would they discard that you currently keep? Any left over fish and smokes.

Oh trust me if we don't end up on one of the unofficial RP servers with our mains, he will be playing COD at some points which means I will get at least seven hours of RP in a day HA!
-
Oh that's right! I completely forgot that there was no official tag for rp on the servers. Will defiantly have to sneak those into the hat and see if he just so happens to pick one out of the shuffle LoLs

Awww Nox sorry to hear that. I am a 1.0 player and was lucky enough to have a husband who couldn't resist trying out the beta for the re-release. Now he is hooked so now it is up to me to convince him to join either Balmung or Gilgamesh. If you or anyone has any evil or good ideas on how to go about doing this, please share

This can go one of two ways. In GW2 I saw where a guild was managing a tavern with another very well, in the same game, another guild was running a tavern and had it literally taken away which lead to a bunch of rp and ooc drama that was unhealthy. I for one would hate to see everything stuck in housing and so on, however I also would hate for something such as the above or trolling to take place in the open world. I enjoy the middle ground on both options, where there is rp I tend to go, therefore housing or land "claiming" doesn't matter.

New to the forums but not to roleplay. So my forum name is Femgame (I go by that on the FFXIV:ARR beta forums too, and have not chosen a name for main yet or a server. Mainly because I have to many names I like to go by and because I have a husband who is not much of an rper and is currently contemplating whether or not we should in fact join and rp server with our mains. However I plan on being on one of the rp servers eventually whether with my main or an alt, I just have to convince him I will also be sure to come back and give the final chosen name to by, but for now, hello fellow roleplayers! Yours Truly, Femgame
