  1. Yes there are many strumpets and maybe a lot of tease from the female side of Miqo'te (is it me or is it more on the seeker side?), but, there are also a TON of normal Miqo'te, like guards to take only that example, pretty serious My character think the city life corrupts them rofl!
  2. Lets not overreact please? Yes game hopping is often seen negatively exactly for the reasons mentioned already in this thread. It's hard to trust someone into a complex storyline that could span over many months when the player is knoen to hop to a new game 4 months after release. Relax, hopping is not you playing years in a game then years in another then another! It's staying few months only in a game and leaving for reasons your own. I tried many games on the side myself but really roleplayed seriously in EQ and EQ2 so those are the one worth mentioning. Hopping doesn't make you a bad players or role-player! But it *could* makes it harder to get involved in long stories. In the end of the day you decide how you present yourself! My advice (they work for me anyway) for walk to RP already going on: listen to what the rp is about, wait at a proper moment to walk up and comment directly to them. Emoting doesn't work half the time. Are they preparing an expedition to explore the ruins of xyz? "Sorry to interrupt but I heard you are going up to xyz? I know the land pretty well 'round these parts, need a guide?" And so on. If they are interested they will jump on the occasion to have someone participate! I found that direct approach to give results. You can also start up something and ask them if they are interested in exploring the ruins of xyz etc.
  3. I have not seen a specific RP hub so far in any of the three cities, what I experienced was role-players in small groups both inside the cities in various locations (not just taverns thank goodness) with a concentration on open world locations, like spread out everywhere!. As I was questing or RPing with people I always seem to fall on others Rping in the little scattered outposts and villages which made me super happy! Not everyone RP a citizen, adventurers are more often in the field so it all made sense to me. As for creating a rp hub, I have a suggestion: why not change it every week so people get to discover wonderful new places in beautiful Eorzea?
  4. ooc me 1. For history and lore that would be the Elezens of Coerthas (Ishgardians). For visual only, there is one single face on Keeper males that I love to look at. 2. I'm the worst person to ask this, I think it's rather silly and overdone unless the races are close genetically, so seeker-keeper or highlander-midlanders. I am sorry I dislike special snowflake and stretching or canon lore and fanfic. The day I see cross-racial being a common occurence in FF14, not possible vague dev talk but actual npc's in-game at many places I will gladly revise my views. 3. Unfortunately yes for the sake of a realistic RP experience. If I play a Miqo'te I cannot see how such a genetically different race would be attracted to lets say a roegadyn or a lalafell. Since I prefer to play with RPers seeking the same canon lore realistic experience I am trying to get from ff14, it's usually not a problem. ic 1. All my characters would seek within their own race and category first maybe open up within the same race 2. They would not understand and pass it as a joke to make people react.
  5. All of your points are exactly what I am looking as a mature roleplayer in FFXIV. I am also tired of the cutesy anime female characters, tavern-rp, stretch on realistic lore, anime style and overall lack of serious RP storylines and fun. I have two characters that could fit nicely in an adventuring band, a void-hunter black mage and a self-exiled knight from Coerthas. Please feel free to private message me if you are interested, I know I am!
  6. What an interesting read (perfect with morning coffee). Thank you for linking this thesis!
  7. I think Roegadyn are not popular because they are an extreme in height, color and muscles! Sure some people like that but most prefer to be on the cute/beautiful or normal human side. Syvingeim Skarnfalksyn will be my co-main (I play on 2 servers) she saw life only in open beta though, after playing a while with her she grew on me and now I think her size is just too fun, especially near lalafell. AND... I think she is just gorgeous. She's an arcanist (Scolar) everything will look like pokemons next to her . I went with traditional skin color and hair color for Sea Wolves.
  8. *gasps* go watch it hehee, really it's such a good watch.
  9. I appreciate the discussion going on but would have like to have it stay a wee bit more on topic aka: the video I linked. The big points coming from that specific matriarchal culture is the walking marriage, where a man who is attracted or in love with a woman would try to visit her at night unless she made clear to him she was not interested. If she lets him in, a sweet night can occur but he has to leave in the morning (which could fit well with keepers solitary nature). Since it's based on love I think it fits well a tribe that favors Menphina the Lover. In-game this can translate that first, a breeding male can simply be a male that is sexually active (found a willing female), not necessarely chosen amongst many and second monogamy OR polygamy can occurs. A male could be in love and come back often to the same female until they grow tired of each others. A male could also try to visit several willing females or even visit outside his 1-3 family unit (which would still fits well withing matriarchal society habits). Since Keepers are pretty independant I would not be surprised if short terms relations are the usual and that would give the males many partners and thus assuring the tribe survival (the usual but not the ONLY option). A tradition of hunting means someone must stay to care for the children, hence where the family unit comes to play. The older females and pregnant ones and maybe the odd male who is getting too old and needs to be taken care of. That keeps the females free to do whatever they need to and the males able to roam as they wish. Of course the uncles playing and watching over kids in the video could not be possible to that extent since keeper males are few in numbers. That also bring out another point. How the heck are we going to RP that males are rare when in-game we'll have a TON of them? hehee. As hard as I want to play with canon lore, the actual thing happening in-game is kinda making it a nonsense.
  10. The other day I fell on that little gem of a documentary on YouTube. It gives an overlook on the last matriarchal people of China. Since we don't have any canon lore about how Keepers of the Moon see relationship/breeding/raising kids (besides them grouping a couple families together), I though this documentary could make a nice example of real life matriarchy. For me, the Miqo'te are more human than cats. Besides a few emotes (like crouching for sitting for male), everything else points to non-bestial behavior. Hence, why I readily compare them to real life cultures. Even more interesting, in the video love is something that is recurrent in their explanation, since Keepers pray to Menphina the Lover... yes 1+1=2 hehee. So, just another idea to RP Keepers. bbzG0n3shTM
  11. Will create my character and slowly start on storyline until an opening party event starts Also tons of screenshots of players everywhere and finally will drool on the pixels of my hot male Miqo'te.
  12. Ah that is why! But the cutscenes were where we had the best pictures! Oh well, there is always phase 4 hehe
  13. None of my screenshots were saved, I look everywhere in my folders. could it be because I screenshotted only in cutscenes?
  14. It's a good idea, too bad I'll play a Keeper hehe. Just to point it out, Keepers have tribes also, but they are composed of only a couple families and thus remains pretty small. My character was from a small tribe, but over a couple of years adapted like many other Miqo'te to the a-hem civilized world I encourage all Miqo'te to work this out though, it's a great initiative and only makes the RP more credible if we see some of the same tribe. Oh and, it's a great way to welcome new role players and make them fit in (sadly saw many new to rp rightfully complain how hard is it sometimes to get accepted).
  15. For what it's worth, I offer my perception as someone new to the forum but a veteran in the RP genre. I totally understand why a linkshell, no matter how old or new they are, would want to carefully examine their applications. I don't see it as an elitist action but as a measure to make sure their members really fit within their theme and get along well with each others. We all saw at one time or another drama caused by people not sharing at least the basics. Over the years that made many of us more cautious. It of course has nothing to do with new or experienced role players. Both can be a good fit. A new Rper open to learning is a breath of fresh air and very welcomed. But... there is always a but eh? the negative side of this is that the linkshell might miss many good postulants. Many, me included, will turn back if they see a closed to new members even if temporary. Something like: applications will be considered and IC interview needed for membership, calls more for a selective but still open attitude. Also, some, me included, would prefer to make friends and get to know the linkshell members before release to really start as a whole and not that new recruit. There you go, from a new member of this fofo
