Being flexible and willing to change is always a good trait. Sometimes when you start with a character you can have one thing in mind, but find yourself wandering in a totally different one. Remember that nothing is set in stone and don't worry about walling yourself in. If you have several jobs leveled then you may want to develop alternate versions of your character for different occasions or to mix things up. It is good to have major areas opened up, but you could also mix discovering them into you characters story. Don't sweat the small stuff with lore. There's a lot of it and even people really into it can make mis-remember things or forget. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask out of character. Good RP partners will either be able to help you with your questions or roll with anything that's not 100% accurate for the sake of everyone's enjoyment and a good story. A great place to start actual RP is checking for RP events. Party Finder often has listings advertising them and places like here or Tumblr communities will list them. That way you know that everyone who's there is there for RP and it can be easier then just doing a cold walk up to someone.

I'd love to find a long form RP partner(s) to let Roehaswys organically grow past what I've currently developed for her Views on RP combat and injuries: Anything major I like to plan out ahead of time, but non lethal on the fly is fine. Bruises and cuts heal and it can make for interesting drama Views on IC romance: perfectly fine with it. I enjoy a long burn for a proper romance rather then a love at first sight sort of thing. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): All okay! Roehaswys has a twin brother who's currently working in Limsa Lominsa so she's often there visiting. Views on lore: I like to stay as close as possible, but I'm not going to sweat if things aren't perfect. I enjoy hearing backstories for characters with names or backgrounds that are exceptions to the lore rules. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I tend to prefer /tell so I don't miss out on something, but if not in a busy area /say is just fine. I like her! She looks like she has moxie! Totally feel you with the anxiety of trying to strike up a RP cold, but rest assured the writing comes easier the more you do it. Seems like a lot of us are taking the opportunity World Visit has opened up to get a good peak at the larger RP servers, so here's to making some good stories!

Hello all! As I hit my one year milestone in FFXIV, my first ever MMO, I've decided that I want to get more involved in the RP side of things and stumbled across this site while looking for references. I'm a long time role player (table top, forum, texts, Skype, LARP) and always enjoy challenging myself with new scenarios and experiences. I'd like to make it a larger part of my FFXIV experience (so medium to heavy I suppose), ideally a few times a week in the evening and am happy to plan things out in advance or schedule things if possible partners have other obligations. I'm happy to world hop as well and have been having fun just hanging out in Balmung's Quicksand and people watching to get a sense of things. My current character is Roehaswys Brodansawyn, a daughter of sailors who grew up around the various docks across Vylbrand before training with the Murderer's Guild and setting out to travel. Her most current job has been working as a courier for cargo that needs a little extra protection. This has her frequently moving through Eorzea's capital cities and spending time with her chocobo who has been by her side since leaving Vylbrand. She's a bit rough around the edges, but happy to call anyone a friend who's willing to pay for a round at the end of the day. Since I have various jobs leveled for her, it's easy enough to come up with other backgrounds to accommodate other role play scenarios. I'm happy for one shots, but I'd really enjoy something more long form to be able to explore more then just surface topics. In RL I enjoy drawing, cycling, table top gaming and miniature painting. I swear one day I'll get that Warhammer Fantasy army finished... I look forward to creating some great stories with people here and taking advantage of all the wonderful resources.
