Hello Yanvo. I tried sending a friend request on discord to see if we have similar ideas for RP, but the request wasn't able to go through. Has something changed since you posted this?

Sword_of_the_MacLeods: While I'm sure that something like you are describing would probably count as being a bit god-like but god-modding tends to be more about taking actions for other characters. For instance, 'Jiinu slaps K'lyhia in the face, causing her to grab her cheek in pain.' It would be more appropriate for me to say that Jiinu attempts to slap K'lyhia or if Jiinu's ability to slap her is not in question at least allow K'lyhia to post her own reaction. Metagaming could include breaking the fourth wall but basically means applying player knowledge to cause a character to behave as if they knew the information. If you know something that your character has not had the opportunity to learn yet but you cause them to take an action as if they already knew it (or taking an action that your character would not normally take based on you wishing them to avoid something that you know about) then you are meta-gaming. Hope this helps. There are likely other interpretations of these two rules as well but these are how I've come to understand them over the years.

Hey all. As someone just trying to get started with role-playing and realizing that I'm not in one of the main servers for it, I figured there are probably a lot of folks like me out there. As a resident of Diabolos I am hoping this thread will be a good place to start for anyone who is looking to find a group to play with without having to start a whole new character. This isn't just for me but I figured I'd start by providing a character name and a discord tag so we could get started whenever someone feel comfortable. Greetings. I'd like to start by saying thanks for putting together such a wonderful community for finding like-minded individuals in a game I have quickly grown to love. Out of character I can go by Squeeks or Ryan. Either is fine with me. MMORPG background: I've been playing games of all types for quite a long time. My first foray into MMORPG would have been original WoW but I've played a large number of different games over the years. Most have never been able to hold my attention for long but FF14 stands to be the first that I may be into long-term. This is generally possible because of the community of players in the game and how easy it is to take part in group content. I'm not hoping to get into the RP community as its a part of the MMORPG experience that I've been missing out on. RP experience I've been RPing for over 2 decades in various formats. Of course there are Table-top RPGs like Star Wars and D&D but I've also been involved in several online RP forums doing free-form RP so I've had a chance to work on creating stories with others from just a narrative standpoint. RP experience in a game like this is almost non-existant but I'm willing to bring what I know to Character ideas/info: My main for the moment is a Xaela Au Ra named Jiinu, who has a bit of a stoic and unemotional response to most things going on around her, having experienced a great number of terrible things in her childhood especially with her forays into dark magic. Some times she is known to have a dark sense of humor but rarely show it to those she is not close with. I have other character ideas that I may be willing to start if there are players out there looking to play with a certain type of character. Playing something male may be a bit easier for me as well as it is closer to my own experience but I went with an Au Ra initially because they are just so darn cute. How did you learn about the coalition? While googling for RP communities in my world, this forum naturally popped up. What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy): I will likely be a medium level RPer in general. As I am trying to advance through the rest of the game to unlock content it is my primary concern however if a group wants to try to get together to run something I will try to drop whatever it is I'm doing to participate. I will probably not be IC at all times but if i'm interacting with someone I know to be in the community I will remain IC unless they say they don't wish to play. Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.): There isn't much for me to say here. I spent many years in the military so I will understand references to that sort of thing. I've been gaming my entire life and generally think I'm pretty good at it. I'm generally looking to play with people who are emotionally mature (not just looking for 'adults'), someone who understands why some jokes may not be funny to some people and don't really want to have awkward conversations with people who just don't get it. I'm not against political conversations but would prefer they don't interrupt anything that's currently going on and are held privately. Hope to see some of you in game and happy gaming.

I'm also a Diabolos resident looking to start breaking into roleplaying. I've been in the game for a little over a month now but haven't quite made it into HW. Just joined the community here today and am hoping to find others in the world interested in forming a group of some kind. Still not sure how the community really does this but learning is part of the excitement.

RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would like to say I'm into a medium level of RP. While I am advancing in the game, I'd like to make sure I spend most of my time progressing through the story but if I become part of a well-developed RP community I would try to drop what I'm doing to participate where needed. I'm not likely to be so hardcore as to always be IC but I would try to be whenever interacting with another fellow RPer. Views on RP combat and injuries: Open to most anything here. I've come from a background of freeform RP where a lot of what is determined is based more on what seems appropriate for the story so I'd be willing to go there. Not sure exactly how to bring it into a game where magical healing, potions and bringing people back from the brink of death will work but should be fun to work with. Views on IC romance: I'm open to it but would generally prefer something more natural that develops through not specifically forced romantic RP. If it seems like our characters click then I'd be willing to discuss it. I'd be more into tasteful RP in this case, something that I would be willing to share with anyone. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Unfortunately I don't know the lore of Xaela Au Ra very well yet so I'd need to do more research on this topic before I could give a good answer. I don't even have a good handle on Jiinu's background yet but I will be fleshing it out as I learn more. Views on lore: Same as above but I really enjoy what I've seen so far. Not sure how everyone bring's lore into their RP but I'm willing to experiment. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Based on how the world works, say chat and linkshell chat seems like the most immersive form of conversation. However, tells for personal RP (especially for whispering) and party chat might be the best if we don't want to avoid bringing everyone into our RP. III.
