  1. Speaking to the FC stuff, not all FCs are ticking time bombs of drama. My group has a very strenuous application gauntlet/ interview process due to our rules of open communication. It has created a loyal core of members that prefer rping in the open world. We tend to avoid major hubs due to the number of trolls that tend to ruin the areas. It's not to say that great rp doesn't happen there, because it does. It's just easier to continue our stories at our own self made tavern or just take it to a specific spot used for our story. We generally hold public events at our FC house and have recruited from the people that showed up to rp.
  2. Best advice is, there is always someone with a similar interest. My own FC was slow to build but we now have loyal members that even started tabletop campaigns on our off days of rp. Don't be discouraged if it takes a lot of time though.
  3. HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE! We've started a collab event with another FC and our current personal events are still going strong! If you have any interest in joining our FC, do not hesitate to reach out!
  4. Best advice I can give, if nobody is rping your interests, then set up your own space and people will come to you. Our FC is a close knit group of friends, great writers, and we're all on the same page writing. We essentially built up our own rp space and I do not regret any of it. Random rp is flakey at best.
  5. I think there is a character page here. I can't remember which section it's under. As far as anyone getting upset about your character: 1) It's your fun, not theirs. 2) Would you really still want to interact with someone that gets overly critical about the minutia of a fictional character background?
  6. Would it be called a reaper? Probably not. Though, in rp you can say you're an adventurer and just use one of the jobs as a template for similar skills. There can be any number of reasons for possessing the same skills, however, the main part of the reaper template is a pact with a voidsent to act as an avatar. I'll always say this as well, anyone that tries to tell you that only garleans have the means to make reapers, they're wrong. Interactions with voidsent and similar pacts were occurring long before the garleans, it's nothing really new.
  7. Just another bump to say that events are going strong and our few new members have settled in well! We are still looking for two to three rpers that might enjoy our regular events.
  8. My FC is a group of voidsent hunters from Dalmasca. After the events in Bozja and the fall of the Garleans, they set their sights on that threat. A good number of us are reapers, essentially fighting fire with fire. I would say with recent trajectory, voidsent related stuff is accepted more than in the past...trust me, we had a lot of people saying we weren't lore friendly when we started. At the end of the day, Faye is right. Rp what makes you happy.
  9. Plenty of ways to get job stones, though my characters *if they had one* probably stole it. The DRK job stone, since up until recently they were considered outlawed in Ishgard, your best bet is to have either found it in contraband items or had it passed down in some way.
  10. I don't want to post too many spoilers but it's less that being a reaper is a lost art, more so they are essentially political assassins. The art was a highly guarded secret. However, that's not to say that anyone couldn't make a similar deal with voidsent....gods know plenty of previous civilizations were doing it long before the Garleans did. Voidsent and deals of power are the basis of a few other jobs as well, highly suggest the red mage storyline, void ark raids, and the warring triad raids.
  11. So there is actually a post regarding jobs and the viability of an average adventurer to obtain them. Things like white mage or black mage get kind of a raised brow, especially if someone says they have a job stone. Many job quests will give you an idea of how viable most are for the average person. The echo is...well it depends on the rp group you are in. Most times people won't care unless you're trying to use it to get character info deus ex machina style. My best advice for multiple jobs...do them within reason and make them make sense. Unless you are a race that lives a long time, such as viera, it would get harder and harder to devote the necessary time to multiple jobs to learn anything of note. If you were a marauder, possibly being able to forge weapons would make sense. Generally if you tie your skills into a coherent background, it's hard to be criticized. Overall, don't game break, meta game, over power, or otherwise break a generally accepted 'normalcy' for rp and you'll be good. If you have ideas you are considering, I'm happy to provide my personal insight, though that would just be my own thoughts, not those of a group.
  12. Still going strong. Have a few new members recruited and we're diving into our next storyline! Always looking to add a few more interested members!
  13. “And lo, vile beasts did rise... Leaving naught in their wake but blood and ash. Sun scorches earth and boils seas... And our sins ascend unto the heavens— Three dooms to unmake all we were.” The world begins an era of peace, the Final Days have passed, and our world remains. Yet we must always stand vigilant. Through the myriad conflicts, the war against Garlemald, and the defense against our own neighbors… With the Terminus threat ended, we cannot simply return to the notion that our energy, our aether, or our ambitions are not still a danger to us all. There lurks another threat to the world, one more insidious and cruel than any other. The lords of the Void, the minions of Darkness. No nation has been spared the pull and temptation of their nature; still they hide in the shadows. From ruins, tombs, and the ancient places forgotten to time, we cannot let the cancer take hold. You need not face the night alone, brave hunter. Through the fell creatures and fetid darkness, the Bombardiers stand strong. Their arms cut against the Terminus, powers honed to strike down the Archfiends. Stand with us, Stand as a bulwark against the Void, Stand amongst the Bombardiers! OOC The Bombardiers are a heavy roleplay free company with a focus on hunting voidsent. We are a small free company started by a group of friends. As our stories have taken on larger and larger events, we have decided it is necessary to open our doors to others. We are looking to recruit a small number of people, no more than eight at this time, to begin a new adventure with our group. Our group offers a custom rolling system focused more toward rping your character, rather than number crunching. We offer flexible events such as bounties, social events, player made events, and more. Attached at the end of this is our carrd so if we have captured your interest, feel free to take a look and reach out to any of our leadership should you be interested in joining. https://bombardiers.carrd.co/ Everyone have a great day!
  14. I don't want to post spoilers but a large portion of aetheric sickness is covered in the sage job quests. I highly recommend looking into them as they finally give a concrete look at what aetheric sickness looks like in a character.
  15. They do expand on this at the end of the expansion, however dark knight is not limited to negative emotions. They are based on intense emotion, dependent on the individual. Without posting too many spoilers, aether can be affected by emotion and is a separate thing from dynamis.
