  1. I would've loved to have gone, but it was my best friend's birthday. But perhaps the Silver Anvil could help for future events! It seems like it would be right up our alley.
  2. Wonderful. I finally found the time to update the original post this morning. I did my best to stay true to Hiname's original concepts while still updating all of the information... but I might just redo the entire thing once my finals are done with. We'll see! In the meantime, I'd like to draw attention to the following fact: We are recruiting people of all disciplines! Ideally, I'd like to have at least one person of every class, and that includes combat classes! If RP-wise your character is interested in mercenary work, hunting, or healing, we'll find jobs for you. If you have some other idea, feel free to run it by me. If you're interested and would like to submit an application, you can do so here! Also, there will be no Open Market event on the 25th on account of it being Christmas; I will surely be busy all day. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone. We'll be back with the usual schedule in January.
  3. I got to meet Saya IC and invite her to join the Silver Anvil. <3 It was fun to run the auction for such a huge crowd, too. I apologize for the confusion at the beginning, but after abandoning the "silent" aspect of it, I think it went very well! I wonder what Amalthea will do with her cursed statue~
  4. Double post~ Here is the final list of submissions I've received Willow Wand -- 10,000 gil -- Keir Loell Ash Macuahuitl -- 15,000 gil -- Keir Loell Oiled Bronze Pickaxe -- 30,000 gil -- Nikolai Petrilio Velveteen gown (red) -- 60,000 -- Castiel Mavanix -- "Weaved by House Mavanix's greatest designers, it's only been worn once by none other than the heir to the house." Velveteen chausses (red) -- 50,000 gil -- Castiel Mavanix Siren Statue* -- 150,000 gil -- Castiel Mavanix -- "A beautifully crafted statue of a mermaid holding a harp. Legend has it that the statue was blessed and enchanted by Llymlaen herself and supposedly wards off all kinds of sea serpents while at sea. Legend also says that Nophica at one time cursed it as well during a spat with her sister, though the details of the curse were never uncovered..." Harrier's Jacket (Black) -- 150,000 gil -- Seirra Lanzce No more submissions are being accepted, but we have quite an assortment now! Please PM me with your bids! *Castiel's Siren Statue "is an IC bid and nothing more. Nobody has to really pay gil for it aside from ICly, though it may be a good idea to have to prove that they have the gil in the trade box as to avoid people just spouting random absurd prices. Starting IC bid will be 150,000 gil ^^. Size of the statue is about knee high (to a hyur)."
  5. It's a very Japanese thing to do. The leader of a project takes all blame for its failure, so that the face of the rest of the group might be preserved. Here's hoping it turns out to be for the best.
  6. An indefinite extension of the free trial, huh? ... I can get behind this.
  7. I've received only two external submissions for the silent auction thus far. If you'd like to submit something to be sold, you don't have to physically get the item to me by tonight, but I least need to know you intend to submit it. Around midnight tonight (PST), I'll be posting a list of the items for sale along with the lowest acceptable bid here in this thread. As I expect my chat log will be busy enough as it is, I ask that all bids be sent via PM here on the RPC forums. IC, I imagine the items would be on display atop a table with a white table cloth, the tables perhaps decorated with bouquets of white and red flowers. Each item would be accompanied by notes on little stands listing its benefactor (unless they specify that they wish to remain anonymous) and lowest acceptable bid, and aside each would be a wicker basket, a quill pen, a vial of ink, and a stack of small pieces of parchment that ask for your name and your bid. Within the wicker basket would already be a few pieces of parchment, folded up to conceal the bids. Now that I've painted such a pretty picture, we can't have that table left bereft of items, can we? The items don't need to have been made by yourself. If you think you have something for which there may be an interest, contact me through a PM right away!
  8. Ohohoho. Awesome. I totally could've been available for an interview had I been made aware, though. :
  9. The fliers advertising the Open Market have been replaced by new, more formal fliers with slightly updated information. Each now also bears an official seal in red wax. "The Silver Anvil invites YOU! ... to join top-notch artisans from all of Eorzea, who will be showcasing the latest developments in adventuring armaments, apparel, and so much more! Guests are encouraged to buy, sell, and trade, but be sure you save some gil for the pinnacle of the event: the grand auction, in which the highest quality wares the Silver Anvil and its associates has to offer will be sold to the highest bidder! We shall assemble the second and fourth Saturdays of every moon outside of Frondale's Phrontistery in Ul'dah at one bell past noon; the auction shall begin at two bells; and the Anvil's artisans will begin packing away at three bells. Please contact Nikolai Petrilio about submitting your high-quality wares to be auctioned! We look forward to seeing you there! ~Silver Anvil Administration"
  10. (( What did you think? I'd love to hear suggestions for future events! ))
  11. ((UPDATE: 3rd of November, 2010)) Pinned on to the cork board in each of the city-states' respective adventurer's guilds is a formal notice, each bearing the Silver Anvil's seal in red wax. It reads as follows (times listed are Pacific Standard Time {GMT-8}): "The Silver Anvil invites YOU! ... to join top-notch artisans from all of Eorzea, who will be showcasing the latest developments in adventuring armaments, apparel, and so much more! Guests are encouraged to buy, sell, and trade, but be sure you save some gil for the pinnacle of the event: the grand auction, in which the highest quality wares the Silver Anvil and its associates has to offer will be sold to the highest bidder! We shall assemble the second and fourth Saturdays of every moon outside of Frondale's Phrontistery in Ul'dah at one bell past noon; the auction shall begin at three bells; and the Anvil's artisans will begin packing away at four bells. Please contact Nikolai Petrilio about submitting your high-quality wares to be auctioned! At least one sun's notice will be necessary, so do not delay! We look forward to seeing you there! ~Silver Anvil Administration"
  12. The Silver Anvil is recruiting! We accept all crafters, but we're particularly looking for: - carpenters - tanners - culinarians - alchemists We're also looking for adventurers who fit the "mercenary" role; those who would sell their sword arm and protect our artisans while we gather materials and make deliveries (not to mention party with us, be it IC or OOC!). We prefer that our members focus on one or a few classes, and that they be willing to work together on large-scale projects that require materials made through several crafts. If you're interested in applying, please follow this link and fill out an application: http://thesilveranvil.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1248131&gid=174017
  13. What do you do when someone steals from you? You report it to a GM and hope action is taken. I can't think of much else that can be done.
  14. I suppose, then, that I was merely confused as to the point of the topic. My stance is made all the same, so I'll bow out. I'll say one thing first, though; look forward to the Silver Anvil's Monthly Open Market! As it's an event exclusive to role-players, we'll be better able to monitor things and avoid scamming-- I don't expect it to be an issue though, as I trust everyone here. /shamelessplug
  15. Alright. Here's my two gil: in the context of "situation B", I would put in a "down payment" for half the going price of the mats, and give the buyer several prices in advance so that they know what is coming depending on the item's quality. Alternatively, if the buyer knows ahead of time that they will not be able to afford a high-quality result, the buyer can either ask the crafter to spam rapid synthesis to avoid HQs; or if the crafter has the money, the crafter may keep the HQ item and sell it later, in the meantime buying new materials (entirely with their own money now) to make the buyer a new item for the agreed NQ fee. Either way, upon completion, the crafter then trades the buyer the finished item, who at the same time returns the down payment, along with a fee that corresponds to the quality. No surprises, and an equal risk for both the buyer and crafter, each of whom take responsibility in requesting/accepting the commission. In nearly all cases, I prefer "situation A" (except that I would again prefer to agree on a price beforehand and hold payment until completion), but if a B-style commission comes up, that'll be my stance on it. I'll discuss it with the Anvil's members to see how they feel about it, too.
  16. I think we all ought to play a game sometime. Who's in? :moogle:
  17. In light of recent events, I've gone ahead and made a new guildlaunch website for The Silver Anvil; it can be found here: http://thesilveranvil.guildlaunch.com/index.php?gid=174017 If someone could replace the old URL in the first post with the new one, I'd appreciate it!
  18. I've noticed that when using rapid synthesis during the rapid color fluctuation that it does indeed fail pretty often, but the durability hits are often low, and I have never seen an element grow unstable as a result of it. Therefore, I think it's pretty safe to use rapid in those times.
  19. All applicants to the Silver Anvil should contact Midaja Triquett about getting a linkpearl. She and I will temporarily be leading the shell until we hear from Hiname. Looking forward to seeing everyone in-game!
  20. QFT. Personally, I miss Joao II of Portugal... he was the most foppish of the dandies. :< However, it looks like Wu Zetian of China shall soon win my heart... I always did love the Great General bonuses.
  21. It is really, REALLY fun. Like, whoa. I might end up shelfing FFXIV for it! Haha, no, probably not, but it makes for a good LAN game. I have a lot of friends who got it, and I'm really looking forward to this weekend 'cos it looks like it'll be my first opportunity to play a full game with people.
  22. Yes, I added kimiji. If you go to your friend list, you should see a notification there. You'll know it's me when you see the creepy picture of Giygas from EarthBound. >_>
  23. They've finally fixed that. They've made it mathematically impossible for ancient era units to destroy modern era stuff. Also, when you attack a unit, it might not necessarily die outright even if you win; you'll more likely just sorely weaken it. I should probably get my Steam ID in the directory thread... I tried adding Tadir to my friend list, but he either didn't notice, didn't recognize me, or doesn't want me on his friends D: My SN there is sweetidealism, too, but the login ID is the200x. So, look for me! I definitely want to throw down with everyone.
  24. A single week remains! Who's thrilled? I know I am.
