  1. On the 21st, a single day before FFXIV's collector's edition release, Civilization V will be launching. Many of my friends and I are huge fans of the series (and strategy games in general), and personally, I've already bought and pre-loaded the game on Steam. Is anyone else gonna be getting the game? I'd like to have a ton of people to play it with. On a related note, how many people use Steam? I was thinking perhaps a Steam ID directory thread could be made, or perhaps merged with the XBL/PSN directory.
  2. Wear perfume. Miqo'te have a keen sense of smell, so you'd probably need to mask any sort of pheromones.
  3. It's been so exciting to see this game grow throughout the course of the beta. It's so surreal that it's due for release in less than two weeks, now! There were times when I was concerned as to whether it would be ready in time for release, and indeed, there's still a few kinks that need to be smoothed out, but I have the utmost faith that this game is going to be an incredible experience.
  4. They also have the unrealistic lack of a falling motion, similar to FFXI. On cliffs that you CAN drop down from, your character just awkwardly descends, and it looks funky. You don't even skip a beat in your running animation.
  5. All things considered, the game truly is breathtaking. However, it could have been more breathtaking... you know?
  6. Man... alright, if I had my pick for a new hero and villain from each game, it would be as follows: FF1: Red Mage! / Umm, I dunno, there aren't really any humanoid villains that come to mind aside from Chaos and Garland... I'm gonna say Matoya even though she isn't a villain. She could fight like I-NO, killing people with her lovely cave tune. <3 FF2: One of the side characters, perhaps? I'm gonna say Minwu. It would be cool to see some white mage-y goodness in Dissidia. / Leon would probably be most sensible, but I could see Borghen, too. FF3: I'd go with Desch. / I dunno, Hein? Again, only humanoid main villain I can think of... FF4: Kain's already been announced, so Kain it is! I really need to get around to playing this one. I know I'd love it. x_x FF5: Faris! Not sure what job, though... / ... Gilgamesh. >_> FF6: Oh, man... so hard to choose T_T Gonna go with Celes, though. Needs more female characters. (Really, though, the entire cast was incredible, so anyone would do.) / General Leo, maybe? Would work well as another character to put up against Celes, if they went with her. FF7: Um. Uhhh. ... Cait Sith. I dunno. I didn't much care for 7, so I'll take whoever. I did love the Turks, though, so here's hoping for their appearance. FF8: Laguna is the obvious answer, no? Irvine would also be acceptable. / Seifer, again, is the clear cut choice. FF9: Give me Freya or give me death. (Though, you could, you know, just give us the entire cast? That'd be cool, too.) / Beatrix. FF10: Didn't play it. Looked mediocre. Not bad, but not great either. Certainly not with $50 at release, imo. Maybe I'll pick it up one of these days when I have nothing better to do or spend my money on, now that it's more around $10. FF11: You know, I always thought I'd say Prishe, but her rival villain was Promathia, who would make an awkward addition to Dissidia... therefore, I'm gonna go with Aphmau (PUP love <3). Then again, she never really fought... so I dunno. Lehko v chick who looks like Ultimecia that I kinda wish I knew about could also be cool? / What was Aphmau's brother's name again? What's-his-face. Alternatively, the undead captain of the corsairs, perhaps? He ended up being more of a hero, though, huh...? I just don't know. I'll be happy with whatever they throw at me so long as it isn't something dumb. FF12: dgaf FF13: I don't own a PS3 or Xbox360 so I didn't get a chance to try this one. TACTICS!: Ramza v. Delita. Give it to me now. If they go so far as to include Tactics Advance, too, I don't want to see Marche. Kid was a whiny bitch. Everyone else was so happy and he just had to ruin it for everyone D:< I'd prefer to see Ritz and uh... hmm, villains, villains... Gonna go with Llednar. Evil Mewt ftw. >_>
  7. Aw, haha, I wish I were better prepared to meet your needs, but the members of the Silver Anvil haven't been playing in the beta much... I've mostly been using it to scout out the locations of the NPCs that give out supplies for local levequests Umm, that said, Nikolai is currently a level 3 blacksmith, 6 carpenter, and 6 alchemist. So um... if you need anything made of wood, I could realistically level carpentry up a bit more and see about helping you, or if you need a weapon repaired, I could level either blacksmithing or alchemy a bit more and help you with that, too. Go ahead and PM me with whatever you might need. If I can't help you personally, I could probably at least direct you to someone who can.
  8. That too! I played a mithra in XI, and I remember I was always wishing I could select a voice so that my character could be more of an alto. Although we do now have options, miqo'te players got slapped in the face; their selections include: school girl, school girl, and school girl. What, you wanted to play something aside from a school girl? Tough luck. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed, and that was one of many things that pushed me to play a hyur this time around-- who, fortunately, do have some variety in their voice options.
  9. "To provide for various player preferences, we introduced many more character creation options than are available in Final Fantasy XI." Where's my male miqo'te!
  10. Yeah, Fairy was one of those dead servers. It was painful to play as it was happening... people quitting left and right until no one that remained could get anything done, leading to more people quitting, including, eventually, myself. This game seems somehow yet more insistent that we develop strong interpersonal connections, as we're now incredibly reliant upon each other even on an economic basis... but, I suppose if the population does for some reason stagnate, the Silver Anvil would then be able to establish a monopoly, taking care of everyone's crafting and repair needs! Hmmm, yes. Excuse me while I go scheme...
  11. If its any consolation...and its not because it seems pretty much academic now, I didnt change my vote Still love Lindblum but Besaid will do Hahaha, yeah, I'm gunning for Lindblum now too. Time's looking awfully short, though. This entire time, I've pretty much dedicated my vote to "Not-FF10;" originally I voted for Mysidia in hopes of knocking Besaid out of consideration for a spillover server when it looked as though Lindblum was going to win. I just know that a lot of folks I knew from Fairy server that I don't particularly care for will be rolling on Besaid and I would've preferred to not be anywhere near them. I take consolation in knowing they won't likely know who I am, but it'll still be awkward to see them walking about. T_T EDIT: As far as low pop servers go, I just wish Istory would've gotten more love. FF5 forever :<
  12. Lindblum nooooo D: What happened? I get home from class and suddenly there's an option to change your vote and that city from that awful, awful FF10 is winning! /melodrama
  13. I don't think I've heard of any larger groups going to Kashuan, Gysahl, or Istory, so any one of those three would be ideal, no? EDIT: Can anyone in beta check out the populations of those servers? I'm in class atm. D:
  14. It's where the two princes Scott and Gordon were from. Does that help at all? EDIT: Here, even better: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Kashuan
  15. What is Kashuan? If that's what you meant... minor FFII storyline spoiler below!
  16. I was curious about this myself, so I checked it out. Unfortunately, they're rolling on Figaro, so I don't think we'll be seeing much of them.
  17. I probably would've voted Kashuan, but the results were already revealed by the time I'd gotten home, and it was clear that it wasn't going to happen. A shame, too; doesn't look like any of the other communities are even considering it.
  18. Haha, here I voted for Mysidia back when it and Besaid were tied and Lindblum was far off in the lead, thinking I could avoid the spillover server being Besaid >_> Guess I was wrong!
  19. What is your Favorite Final Fantasy..... Game: Final Fantasy Tactics! As far as numbered ones go, it's a toss up between 5 and 6 depending on how I feel at the time. Right now I'm feelin' 5. Protagonist:Umm... Bartz or Terra. Again, depends on my mood. I identify with Terra pretty well, and then Bartz is just so human. I feel like he could've been a real person at some point, and he's the only numbered FF hero I get that feeling from. Antagonist:Kuja Supporting Character:Freya, Faris, and Relm Minor Boss:Ultros Minor Boss:Siren, FF5. Gives you that first subtle hint about who the characters truly are. Story Line:Final Fantasy Tactics Intro:Final Fantasy 9. I know I'm going to enjoy a game when it begins with a plot to kidnap a princess. Ending:Technically III, since it's the only one I've played all the way through (came pretty close to finishing FF9; I can't remember what came up. Nearly done with the PSP remake of Tactics as well). If Chains of Promathia counts, though, then that wins by far. Brought me to tears. <3 Music:FF5's "Home, Sweet Home", FF3's "Doga and Unei", FF6's "Kefka", and FF9's "Vamo'alla Flamenco". Also, I had totally forgotten about Crystal Chronicles' beautiful opening theme! Added that to my favorites on youtube. Battle Theme:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiJjDKfS_sM FFII wins. Honorable mention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2vpqd9gKX Boss Theme:Dancing Mad, it's been posted numerous times already Ability:Doublecast Spell:Aspir/Osmose/Invigoration Class:Mystic from FFT, then Puppetmaster from XI. <3 Creature:Apkallu~ I would always break my weapon latents on them Summonable Avatar:Alexander Airship:Blackjack
  20. I'm gonna disagree. A name has value in its aesthetic. Using FFXI server names as an example, let's say I'm a non-RPing friend you'd like to bring along to the server you'll be playing on, but they have other friends who are gonna be playing on other servers. You tell me you're on Remora server, and I'll be unimpressed, and probably go join my other friends. However, if you tell me you've rolled up on Fenrir server, I'd be much more inclined to join you. I also just generally like to be able to say "I play on (awesome-server-name-here)." Surely that's sensible?
  21. I've elected to play a hyur mostly because male miqo'te aren't available. I played a mithra in XI and really loved it. As foxfirestorm mentioned, playing a mithra gave you a sort of ambiguity where you were eligible to get free stuff and twist people's arms into doing favors for you, all while still having your voice heard and respected. I also dig their "lithe athleticism and aloofness" as Lunavati put it. As far as gender goes... I'll play a male if there's an option that isn't overly bulky. In WoW, my friends played alliance, and no such option was available. At first I played a male night elf balance druid anyway, and I did my best to always remain shapeshifted. Later, I played a human discipline priestess and never looked back. This time around, I decided to play a male hyur midlander because it fits my spoiled brat of a character Nikolai best, and isn't too bulky. That said, if at any point male miqo'te become available as a playable race, I will drop everything to play one instead. >_>
  22. Bumping Castiel's question. I am in favor of this idea.
