  1. A new Dissidia game has been announced for PS4 featuring everyone's favorite Miqo'te conjurer. Its slated for a 2018 release. Have a look. [video=youtube]
  2. The responses to my last post really on serve to prove my point correct. Some people in your community ask for help, you tell them to fuck off. And yes, by the very nature of being involved in a community, you are obligated to help those who ask for it. That's the point of a community; to be there for each other when they need it. As for those who think I need to 'put my money where my mouth is' so to speak, I have transferred my main to Mateus last night and will be playing there to support its community. I think this will also be my last post on the issue. I've said my peace. Here, have a kitten
  3. Imagine each server as an apartment. Balmung is an apartment that houses a particular group of people who have formed into a community of sorts within the building. This community attracts the attention of others who wish to join, but there's a problem. The apartment has become full. Sure, you can still bribe the landlord to let you in, but by this point people are sleeping in the halls. Now, those that can't get in or can't pay the bribe decide to build their own apartment next door. Unfortunately, their on they're own as the city refuses to help and there are no contractors available. So these people, faced with an extremely difficult and daunting task, go next door to the overpopulated apartment to ask for people in their shared community to give of some of their time to come over and help them build. The people of Balmung Apartments smile and say "We support your endeavors" but refuse to actually leave for a bit to help with the construction. "We don't have time," they say. "We're to busy doing what we want to do. Our fun comes first." On and on it goes like this for months with the same lines, putting themselves first instead. "Don't blame us," they say. "Its not our fault the apartments are full. Its not our fault that we would rather spend our time on ourselves." Now, Balmung Apartments are so full that people are sleeping on the porches and hanging from the gutters. Meanwhile, the neighbors over on Mateus Lots do their best to build themselves a home. Its a shame so few are willing to help. TL;DR Mateus: Hey guys. Could some of you donate a few hours each week to help us build a second RP communtiy for those who can't get into Balmung? Balmung: Here's some lip service of support, but fuck you, we got ours. Do it yourself.
  4. Don't you dare jinx my dearest waifu Yugiri! She is most beautiful of all NPCs and I loves her muchest. Gosetsu can get the Moenbryda treatment which will force Yugiri to take his position. Don't forget that she is front and center in one of the official artwork. She has a great role to play yet that hopefully doesn't include dying.
  5. What's up with his weird sword dispenser?
  6. I think that the OP's message has largely been misunderstood or perhaps, in some cases, purposefully misrepresented by those who don't truly wish to listen. The fact of the matter is that there are people who want to participate in an RP community that is free and open; create a character and go. Balmung is not that. Balmung is far too full and inaccessible to those new to the community as well as those wishing to play a new role. You shouldn't have to pay a transfer fee in order to enjoy your hobby with others. I don't care if the fee is only 1 cent. You still shouldn't have to pay it. What the OP is doing, as I understand it, is not a beratement of the Balmung community, but a call for assistance in setting up a secondary RP server. You don't even need to transfer. If all you did was set up an alt on this new server and devote some time to RPing there, it would go a long way toward building this new community. You have a right to refuse to help your fellow RPers and go about your business, but in that case, the only thing you help build is resentment. I have a character on Balmung with an established group of friends that I RP with, but I also know people who want to participate but can't due to the server being so full. I'll be making alts on Mateus and playing them, so why can't some of you do the same to help this new community grow?
  7. Thanks for the feedback. You've given me plenty to consider. I do want to clarify that when I say "dark" or "occult" arts, I was thinking of some form of far eastern thaumaturgy equivalent. As for Black Mage, I suggested it because I couldn't think of any other form of high dark magic that exists within the Final Fantasy framework. Again, thanks. I think this character is going to take some serious work before she's ready for public RP.
  8. So long as the server remained open and accessible for creating new characters, I'd move. It if became like Balmung where you have to create a character on a different server, then pay for a transfer, then no.
  9. Well, no responses so I'm just going to assume she's solid and move on.
  10. Howdy! Welcome to FF14 RP. You chose a fairly good server as Mateus has a small but growing group of RPers. You shouldn't have to search to hard.
  11. I for one stand with Mateus. Balmung has become like a gated community. You can't just hop on with a new character whenever you want. You have to wait and pay a fee to get in. Designating a low pop server like Mateus as a new RP server allows for more variety of characters and PCs since it doesn't have a pay wall in front of it. An RP server needs to be easily and freely accessible to everyone. I'll make any new characters on Mateus from now on to help support that growing community.
  12. Hey guys! So I have this character concept that's been jostling around in my head for a couple days and I wanted to see what others think. Obviously, the character is still in an extremely rough and bare state, so please keep that in mind. Still, I'd like your guys opinions, so have a look! Name: Yomi no Yuko/Yuuko Race: Au Ra, Raen Age: Early to mid twenties. 26 max Birthplace: Hingashi, somewhere in the mountains Starting Class: Thaumaturge Basic Character Concept: Witch/Occultist She's interested in all things dark and spoopy. Things like dark magic, voidsent, ghosts and other spirits, and ancient forbidden lore. She would fall into the neutral-chaotic neutral alignment. Her name mean's something like "Yuko of the Underworld" if my translation is correct. Physical Description: Max height for a female Au Ra. Thin and pale. Grey eyes with purple limbal rings. Hair color undecided (white, black, dark blue, and dark purple are options). Personality Traits: A bit macabre and gloomy with a black sense of humor but not hostile or outright unfriendly. Not easily rattled. Naturally curious and intelligent, but tends to underestimate threats. Has a tendency towards apathy regarding things outside her interests/studies. Not naive, but largely ignorant of the world outside her purview. Poor sense of direction leads to frequently getting lost. Background: Abandoned/orphaned as an infant, she was taken in by an elderly Hyur woman who was outcast as a witch. This woman lived in a small shack in an area that was an ancient burial ground, known colloquially among the local villagers as "The Underworld." Hence the surname "Yomi." This woman raised her and trained her in the occult arts. Yuko referred to her as "Grandmother." Recently, Grandmother has passed away of old age, but before she died, she told Yuko to travel to Eorzea to further her studies in the dark arts. Type of RP and Goals: As far as RP goes, I think she would do well with other characters interested in magic, particularly the dark and forbidden type, as well as those interested in exploring ancient ruins for magical secrets. For goals, I'm thinking of several possible options: 1st, she manages to discover lore about Black Mages and after extensive searching, manages to find a soul stone. 2nd, she is unable to find a soul stone, but meets a Black Mage PC who takes her on as an apprentice and eventually gifts her one. 3rd, she manages to piece together enough disparate lore to craft her own soul stone or at least a functioning facsimile of one. 4th, she is unable to accomplish any of those things. Faced with the possibility that she will be unable to further her studies and increase her power, she decides to supplement her power by taking up the Red Mage discipline (lore willing). Thought the somewhat flamboyant style of the Red Mage goes against her nature, she decides its better than stagnation even if she must balance her magicks. So there you have it folks, my initial character concept. I would appreciate any constructive criticism and feedback. Any potential lore breaking should be pointed out as well as any area that needs to be further fleshed out before I move on to a more solid 1st draft. If you have any question about the character, please ask them. Questions will force me to think about aspects and qualities of the character that I haven't thought of yet. Thank you for your time, should you choose to give it!
  13. I love your idea of red magic being a discipline rather than an actual form of magic. I'm really looking forward to this job.
  14. For A'yana it would be boring old green. For Celica, it has gone from yellow to black.
