I haven't been on all day but there were still a scattering of small houses available in the Mists and Lavender Beds this morning, and a mix of mediums and smalls in the Goblet. There are still some mediums popping up now and then too, but they seem to vanish quicker these days so you'd have to keep an eye out and snag one if you see it.

I might be interested in doing this (okay, actually I would LOVE to do this if our time zones mesh). I'm just coming back to the game after taking a couple of months away and I'm looking to make some connections/find some regular RP. I was actually thinking about doing something similar with an alchemist character but this would be cool to do instead. I was planning on going to Balmung though, seeing as that seems to be where most RP guilds have popped up but I would be willing to start on Gilga instead if I know I will be able to find regular RP/make a friend or two there. What time zone do you play in/when are you usually online?

This is a good thing isn't it? More RP is well, more RP. My guess would be people hitting 50 and those who were stuck on other servers being able to transfer would have something to do with it.

Ah yes, though with one miss click it can lead to "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to send you a friend request, I just thought your tunic was nice and wanted to take a look, not that I don't think you might not be a nice person but-" or maybe thats just me.. :cactuar: I'm always paranoid that I'm going to end up doing this. I haven't yet, but I have definitely been caught chasing someone around Ul'dah trying to get a good look at their outfit and to figure out how and where they got it.

I'm not completely settled on what or how to do it yet, whether a circus or a performance troupe but I would definitely be up for combining ideas. We should talk more. My character on Balmung is Arianna Nightingale. I only recently rolled her but feel free to give me a nudge some time, or send me a message on here - I check this site pretty frequently. I'll try and send you a message tomorrow (assuming I can still coherently string sentences together tomorrow with this cold). So far I have a name in mind and a vague idea of what I want to do and how but I'm still rolling ideas around for the most part - I would definitely welcome another person to bounce ideas off and/or work with.

That would be fine. I'll probably start it up as a LS to start with and then turn to a FC once there are enough people. ICly I'm sure we can find a way for those with affiliations elsewhere to be involved too. Right now I'm mostly trying to gauge interest before I jump in with both feet. Its encouraging to see so many responses so fast.

It's not my intention to cause offence so, done. As for the market/bazaar type event, I can definitely see something like this being involved in some way, either setting up themselves or attending someone else's.

I'm going to put the TL;DR to the beginning here for those with limited time to read my longwinded and babbling posts . TL;DR - Would there be any interest amongst the RP community (on either server; I'd love to hear opinions from both) in a travelling performance/carnival/circus/street entertainers style FC or LS? I don't have a name for it yet, but I've been toying with this for a while and figured it would be a good idea to simply go ahead and ask the community for feedback on it to see whether it's something people would be interested in doing or seeing. The company would be based around the idea of a group of travelling performers with a strong focus on small-scale street entertainment, maybe a carnival/fair kind of set up and (depending on interest) possibly more formal shows. Basically the troupe would be a gathering of performers bound together under one company name, travelling from place to place to put on shows or random, small-scale performances such as the kind of entertainment you might find on street corners. The group might include performers such as jugglers, dancers, mimes, magicians, sword swallowers, fire eaters and so on, maybe even a bit of street theatre if there were enough people interested in doing it. As well as that I can see merchants, craftsmen and traders possibly being part of the group; setting up shop wherever the troupe stops, putting out stalls and hawking their wares, and maybe also having fortune tellers, games of chance and other novelty things going on too. It may be a bit ambitious given the lack of visual effects to help with this, but RP is pretty much about using your imagination so I'm sure we could find a way to make things work. I have characters on both Balmung and Gilgamesh and I don't know which server I'd look at doing this on (which is another reason I'd like to hear feedback before making any decisions), but is this something that would interest anyone?

I'd just like to add to this if I may; Faye has a good point here. Why spread the RP community out even more than it already is? No one here is saying that people should or should not RP on this server or that server. What has been said, numerous times, is that Gilgamesh and Balmung are the two servers that the Hydaelyn Roleplayers Coalition, this website and community, supports and serves. No one is saying you can't go and form an RP group, guild, FC, LS or anything else on another server - there is even a section on the LS board here for Linkshells and Free Companies on servers other than Gilga and Balmung and there are a few advertisements in there. But they are all grouped together under 'other' because Gilgamesh and Balmung are the two servers that the vast majority of the RPers in this community are playing on and adding another server to those two will only split the RP community up further. In my opinion splitting the community even further between even more servers will only cause more cliquishness, more isolation and more dilution of the RP community as a whole. That's not to say people can't or shouldn't set up shop on another server, but these are the servers the community here has chosen (and the discussion has been gone over so many times now) and these are the two servers that this site/community serves.

I. Basic Info Characters: Tayang Malqir Primary character: Tayang Malqir Linkshells: Primary RP linkshell: II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to heavy. I love story driven RP but I also enjoy light/casual and random RP. I do play the game for its PVE as much as for the RP so if I'm running around in the world I'm not always in-character (I am approachable though - a simple tell and I'm usually willing to drop what I'm doing and switch to RP). Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm good with these as long as it isn't going to kill or physically disable my character; in those cases I'd prefer a bit of warning in advance as to the potential for it so I can decide whether to run with it or not. Otherwise I like to RP any plausible injuries exactly as they are; I'm not a fan of the magic pill so if my character gets hurt I'll play along with the injury until they can find a way to be fixed. Views on IC romance: If it makes sense, yes, but only if it makes sense and happens during the course of RP interactions. I would like to have characters at least meet and become friends first rather than go into RP with the intention of making them something specific beforehand - it feels forced otherwise. Additionally, while I'm not against ERP or those who enjoy that style of RP its not really my thing and I will just fade-to-black in those situations. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I am absolutely up for these, especially friends and would love for my character to have contacts, colleagues, acquaintances and friends to do things with in-game. For friends, just approach me in-game and we'll see how things RP out, but for family ties or past relationships (whether friend, acquaintance or colleague) please tell me beforehand so I a) know to expect it and b) we can talk about the details in advance. Views on lore: I like to try and stick to it as closely as possible. However, I believe that everyone is entitled to RP in a way that is fun for them - in other words, I try not to break lore with my own characters but I don't judge others who do. If I don't like something I think I'm mature enough to find a sensible IC way out of the situation (rather than leaving people in the lurch) and will go do something else. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I like to keep OOC out of /say and /em as much as possible and I do find it distracting when others do it around me. Additionally, if I'm involved in an RP that could be considered 'closed', or between the participants only, I would prefer to conduct it in party chat rather than /say or /em, as I consider RP in those channels, as it is publicly visible, to be open for others to jump in as they wish. T'zhumii Shenn - Miqo'te This sounds like an awesome idea. As someone looking for RP contacts I'll add my name to the list, and probably poke a few of you. And I love Magellan's idea - we should make this a pen pals club so there's an IC reason for the shier types to be randomly sending mail to strangers.

I have a sun seeker Miqo, T'zhumii Shenn, who is from a 'T' tribe background. Problem is she grew up outside the tribe - her mother left them before she was born; the only reason she has a tribal name is because of the fact that her mother wanted her to at least be aware of her roots. Though, there's always the possibility that her mother came from your particular T-tribe group originally, or maybe one that was known to them. T'zhumii has little real knowledge of her tribe other than the fact that they exist... somewhere... If that's of any interest to you I would absolutely be up for some RP - maybe T'zhumii can learn more about her family's background or something.

I'm not very good at introductions so I'm borrowing your little template thing to help me along. Hi, my name is Rachel. I spend most of my time writing sci-fi and horror books and vainly hoping to get them published one day. Aside from that I also enjoy gaming and RP and a bunch of other stuff that would probably bore you to tears if I listed it all. I've played a number of MMO's in the past (mainly WoW, Rift and a bit of Tera) but I've only RP'd in a couple. I've usually been more of a PVE-er but recently become involved in the RP community. I find RP in MMO's to be a lot of fun, and my best experiences have been in Rift. I found their housing system to be such an amazing tool for Rpers - being able to build your own place from the ground up is just so much fun and it really adds to my sense immersion in a character. I know FFXIV has plans for a housing system and I am going to be frantically saving up every Gil I can get my hands on in order to afford one. I used to RP a lot via forums, and I ran a fantasy/sci-fi RP group myself with a friend for several years. Of course, that was a long time ago; since then I've not been so involved in RP. I've only recently (in the past year or so) getting back into RP, this time in MMO's, so sometimes my skills feel a little rusty. I found this place via a google search while looking for the RP community for FFXIV. It looks like a really promising place to find RP and to learn about events - I look forward to attending a few in the future. I am almost always a heavy Rper, and I would like to join an FC/LS that matches that. I love to get involved in storylines and things and to really get my character involved in things, but I also enjoy more casual, social RP. I am unfortunately a little shy when it comes to big groups and I struggle a little in large scale, fast moving RP gatherings. I'd love to meet people who could help me with that. I'm glad to have found this place, and I look forward to meeting people in game.
