Thank you both very much for the clarification, I was under the impression that you only get 2 across your account period and not per character. Appreciate it!
-
Does anyone here use the "additional retainers" service? And if so, is it just 1 extra retainer PERIOD. Or, if you have 5 characters, is it 1 per character?
-
Lies. To get that much money with a non-legacy account, you have to be making a focused effort to make money. Anyone who doesn't make a focused effort, like myself, is likely hovering in the low millions. If he was focused he'd have made the 70mil needed for the large houses. Edit: Wait, wait, wait a second let me get this straight. You post about how sick you are of hearing people complaining, which by the way you seem to like to read about, but now you want everyone to "feel bad" or "sorry" for you when you get backlash? Riiiiight. If you think a personal attack through off-site for a post he made is justified... I won't bother saying more. Hard for me to feel sorry for someone who came in and made a post without regard to how others are feeling. Or whine about how he doesn't like how others are feeling and they should feel x way because people are bothering -him- (the center of the universe) with how they feel. Would I have attacked him through off-site means, No. I think that's cowardly and if you have a problem with what someone posted on one site, you shouldn't stalk someone to flame them. Am I going to feel "sorry" that he was attacked? Nope. You reap what you sow.

ArcheAge, Guild Wars 2, Wild Star, EQ2, TERA...Find one that suits your fancy and take it. Activated my WoW account again. Might try out Archeage once its released. Also now that my server is doing halfway decent in GW2 WvW that will also take up some of my time.

Yea I'm done. Already cancelled my subscription, this was the largest slap in the face ever. Time to try out other games.
-
Yea, no more game subscription from me, already canceled. "player housing wont be as expensive as FC housing" my ass! Fuck this game, I'm done.
-
What....the....fuck....personal housing costs just as much as fc housing!?!?
-
So...in previous live letters it's been said that personal housing was going to be released in 2.38. Though square still has yet to release ANY patch notes *grumble grumble*. So I have no idea if personal housing is going to be like FC in that there will be wards with community lots, or if its going to be a crappy instance thing (lets hope not!) But assuming it's a ward with lots system, I think it would be nice to get the RP community into specific wards. As I said before we don't know how exactly it will pan out, how many wards etc. BUT I'll go ahead and toss out that I'm going to try and get into Ward 3 of Gridania IF it exists. Any other roleplayers are welcome to join me

Customize a limit break only YOUR character could do
CalebAgron replied to Pumpkinweed's topic in RP Discussion
Caleb wouldn't be able to reach some of these limit breaks, at least not right now. But once he reaches his prime and learns to control aether a little better, his limit breaks might be seen as follows. Level 1- Gridanian Juggernaut! Caleb dashes forward using his shield as a battering ram, his shield would be laced with aether to give an extra umph when it hits. Level 2- Proud Defender! A quick dash to an ally raising his shield and creating a barrier between him and the enemy. His sword drops to allow his other hand to quickly provide a "jolt" of healing aether to the wounded ally. Level 3- Elementals Fury! He would raise his sword into the air gathering air aspect aether, causing Aero like winds to cut into all enemies around him. Once enough aether was gathered he would quickly strike the ground creating a tremor powerful enough to send enemies to the ground. -
Are there not 2.38 notes yet? its only 4 days away and they are suppose to have personal housing coming out.
-
Yup Sept 18th ish. They wanted to release 3.8 when the Yokyo Game Show was out, and that will be 18th -21st.
-
So I'm super excited that player housing will be coming out in a few weeks, though i do wish they weren't so tight lipped on exactly what that is going to include and such. So I have a few questions that hopefully someone who's read something on the subject might be able to answer. 1. Will player housing include some sort of storage unit that players can use to finally get around the hot tragic mess that prevents players from giving their alts materials and other items? 2. Anyone hear a figure of how much houses will cost? 3. Will player housing mirror FC housing in that there will be lots you must purchase in a "community" map? Anyone know any answers to these questions yet?
-
What exactly is it that i would be missing if instead of having 1 character do them all. Having 4-5 characters do 1 or 2 each. Cause I can transfer the items between characters right? or is it a "skill" i would be missing?
-
Bah guess i wont bother crafting then, I refuse to level all crafts on one character so crafting is useless to me. Well on the upside wont need to continue my subscription till personal housing comes out lol.

So I'm hoping HRC can help me decide the best course of action, and if this post seems scatter brained I apologize, it's just mirroring my cluelessness on the issue. So for starters I am not the person who likes 1 character to be able to do all the professions (or jobs for that matter). Though I am abundantly aware that this would be the most efficient way. All my characters are learning the gathering skills, but are only taking up 1 or 2 crafting skills (Armorsmith for Caleb, Weaving for Anveena etc.). That said I'm trying to determine the best way to level each skill. Currently I'm just doing the straight up farming mats and using them to level my crafting. This however seems to be taking a long time, and worse when I'm waiting on rested XP to build up. It was suggested to me that I start to do the levequests, and while that would certainly seem -quicker- and help with the gathering levels...I don't get any mats from the quests, and would have to purchase or farm the mats for the crafting levequests...wouldn't that just defeat the whole purpose of me avoiding farming mats..or making gil? Should I stick to farming mats...but instead of just creating random stuff do the crafting leves? Above all my priority is gil, I want to make sure I'm spending little to nothing leveling these skills, but I would also like to get things done before the end of the year >.> Any suggestions or thoughts, is my logic flawed?

When!?! heh and yes it looks like a lot of fun added, the April 14th date? Was that just being available for PS3? PC release date?

Could not agree with this more. Half the reason I could not get into ffxiv's story at all was the amount of reading required. I love to read, but when you're forced to read paragraph after paragraph of mundane story and tedious questing, it just gets old. Giving npcs voice breathes life into even the most basic of quests,, and adds character, flavor, and depth. From an rper's perspective, having meaningful dialogue options (such as light and dark side) is an absolute dream, cuz its like having your own personal canon going on while you play through the game. I wish more games would focus more of their attentions on making the actual playthrough of the game fun and exciting, rather than focusing so heavily on endgame. I have to say I disagree with this, personally. I really don't mind reading quest text (then again, when you're in architecture, you read a LOT). If development resources are limited and the choices are between adding cutscenes and spoken dialogue or adding improved gameplay elements, I'd go with the latter. As an RPer, I've found that I know a good dozen or so roleplayers who write more interesting stories for RP than the actual developers. Story is tantamount to my enjoyment of a game. I know people have different 'lists' for the top things they look for in a game, and I completely respect that but personally, if I'm going to invest a hefty chunk of time in a game, it will be because the story keeps driving me forward and I want to find out more. On a whole, mmo's fall well short in spinning compelling narratives. I agree in most cases rpers come up with better stories than the devs, and that's part of the problem for me! I guess coming from a console rpg background where it was all about story, I just expect a little more from main storylines. That's probably where we're different. I played a lot of console RPGs, but my developmental roleplaying experience comes from tabletop and open forum gaming where we had to make our own stories and, often, our own game worlds. Game stories disappoint me so frequently that I thought the problem was me; I just had RPed with people who told better stories than game developers. I especially don't like when developers make me feel like I'm acting the part in someone else's movie... not naming any names capcom.... Still, a game can't have a completely crap story, I'll grant you. That was one of EVE's problems. It seems like CCP was well aware of how shit they were at storytelling and decided to outsource pretty much all the game's meaning to the player base. That doesn't work either. I will say that I'd prefer a dynamic and dangerous world with a mediocre story to a mediocre world with a dynamic and dangerous story. Mostly, it's because I can make dynamic and dangerous stories; I've been doing that since I was twelve. But I'm crap at coding and I need developers to make games for me to play. See I could not get into the lore in FF14 because for me, ain't nobody got time or the desire to read quests. I've pretty much quick clicked out of every quest I've been given in this game. The cut sceens are pretty much the only in game lore I know, and will remain so. Ain't nobody got time for that reading bs.

So I really don't see any games being released that catch my eye, or having me waiting on pins and needles to play. I've been playing MMORPG games for years now, starting out with Vanilla WoW and hitting most the games since. Granted there are some games I never played that seem to have large followings, but that never really struck me as interesting. Eve, Everquest are but a few. So here are my thoughts on where my gaming will be in the future. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn I gotta say so far I'm pleased with this game, its graphics are amazing, the game play is spot on, and they seem to come out with new content at a decent rate. Granted the last patches FC housing was a complete flop for those of us that don't BUY gil or were rich prior to ARR coming out. The lack of player housing is probably my only complaint of the game so far. This game still holds potential though and I'll be interested to see IF they add more classes, more races, and more lands beyond Eorzea. The release of Leviathan is a good start, lets keep the content coming and they will keep my subscription. Praise given..I am feeling a little burn out from all the "Daily's" I've NEVER been one for grinds, be it for gil, armor, or anything else. World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor So I am ashamed to admit that I will likely TRY this expansion just to see where they take the story and how the "player housing" in the game pans out. I am interested to see how the other race's model remakes turn out, cause god knows the human male model right now is perhaps the worst thing EVER in mmo history. I have a love hate relationship with this game, I find the world, setting, races etc to be epic amazing! But there are also some lore crap that I disagree with and that I thought they epic failed at. High Elves not being added to the Alliance is my #1 bitch about the game! And not 2 fucks were given that they look identical to Blood Elves, I am an Alliance player through and through and my favorite race is High Elves so no playing a Blood Elf is not an option. Lore wise, to everyone that has more then 1 brain cell they would make sense to add too, just hoping one day in the future they are released. Sorry rant on High Elves, happens every time I talk about WoW. Gameplay wise I was pleased with what they did in Cata even though it got a lot of anger from the "hardcore" players, making the game more accessible to everyone should be a no brainer and I'm glad they went that route. The grinds in the game however have always been a turn off, as has the "rare drop" mounts. City of Heroes/Villans Rest in peace CoX, the customization, the classes, and MOST the game play was amazing. The copy paste instances however were NOT, in fact the same damn mission in the same damn building or tunnel is what made me peace out. Still it was an overall good game, RIP. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic This game really set the bar for all future MMORPG's when it comes to questing and stories. Let's face it, regardless of how "expensive" voice acting can be, after SWTOR there is NO and I mean NO reason why we should have to read quest shit again...ever. I don't buy into it being "expensive" especially since I know voice actors don't have 1 voice. I mean yea SWTOR hired some famous people and that shit of course would get expensive, but I'm sure you can hire much more affordable voice actors. The multiple choice replies your character could give and the absolutely FLAWLESS stories they did for each class made leveling in this game beyond a joy, it has no equal in this department period. Praise given. I have also never seen a game release new content at such a slow pace, 2.5 years after the games release people will finally be getting player housing. Their expansion was meh, and they still have a host of stuff they still have yet to deliver on. Not the least of this is same gender romance options that was promised "shortly after release" nope...still not available. Needless to say I grew tired of waiting for content and gave the 1 finger salute to a game that doesn't follow up on its promises. Wildstar I've heard a lot about this game from several friends who are excited to play it. I for one don't even have a slight interest in the game, graphics are way too cartoon looking or my taste, this coming from someone who played WoW. I also have no draw to any of the races, or classes. The mixture of technology/magic has always been a big -nope- for me. Elder Scrolls Online Hummm very torn with this game, I -might- try it out depending on how their pvp looks. From what I could gather it seemed like it would be "GW2esq" in that you would be able to upgrade towers, fight in a 3 way fight, take over territory etc. Graphics fall short for me though, it looks like it's trying a little too hard to be realistic, and that is as much a turn off as something that is too cartoonish. There has to be a balance, SWTOR, GW2 and FF14 provide that perfect balance. Meh I don't know about this game. World of Darkness Online So I use to play the tabletop game with friends in HS and shorty after, I even gave an online group a shot and had a decent time with it. I LOVE their books, their system, etc..but from what I hear they are slow on making the game...and that's pretty much a nail in the coffin...ha see what i did thar!? Aint nobody got time to wait 5+ years for a game, come out with a game or gtfo of the industry lol. *cough* Blizzard's "Project Titan" *cough*. Guild Wars 2 Think I'm pretty much done with this game, it was fun while it lasted and a pretty good game for F2P. Their WvWvW was so much fun, though their recent changes in the maps..not so much. The story was decent, I liked the races and classes for the most part. I might jump on from time to time but it's not a game I'll put much investment in anymore. Marvel Heroes So a lot of people complain that they want to play their own "unique" hero, I for one much prefer being able to play some of the heroes I use to read about all the time. And I still purchase heroes and try them out from time to time so I guess you can say I'm still invested in the game. It is however a secondary game for me, it's largest mark against it is the lack of RP in the MMO. It is a very anti RP game in it's design, and the game is VERY grind heavy with end content and leveling. The graphics are nice, and the rapid rate at which they come out with new costumes and heroes is nice. While I don't really mind that there are a bunch of nightcralwers or cyclops etc, I think once the game has a large 60+ hero selection it might become more appealing. That and they need to add more RP friendly content. So yea all in all no games I'm crazy about playing, FF14 is holding my attention so far, mainly because of the RP I've found. And I will play WoW and Marvel Heroes for some "break time".

This. I'm not surprised the PS3 version will be discontinued at a certain point. That IS the way of consoles, they come out with a new one every few years. With a PC so long as you upgrade PARTS you don't have to worry about this. Lesson of the day? By PC's not consoles lol.

*Narrows eyes* That name rings a bell... Were you perhaps an avid PvPer? Only I remember an Elementalist with a name like that constantly handing my ass to me out on the battlefield... *Narrows eyes even further* I'm watching you. SWTOR guys: We need to schedule. <3 I did play a lot of WvWvW but I wouldn't say I owned anyone lol. In fact I was very squishy and tended to just keep to non open field battles. Preferring to stand on a wall and aoe down on stuff lol. Loved upgrading shit too so was always running the yacks to bases. now i wanna play GW2 wvwvw again..but they changed the map and I so do not approve! Where is my damn lake!

Oh this is neat! Ok so I see a lot of talk about SWTOR and I gotta give a shout out to my old guild Republic Order on Ebon Hawk. They are an amazing group of roleplayers and if any of you fools are looking for a great group of people to roleplay with I highly recommend them. Personally I can only focus on one MMORPG at a time >.> That said. 1st Game WoW. (Inactive) Use to be on Emerald Dream, then Xfer over to Moon Guard because it was the "RP Capital" supposedly. Though I have seen little to no roleplay in my days on that server, paid $200 to transfer all 8 of my toons too >.<. I played wow since vanilla so of course I'm going to have 15 alts...between 2 accounts >.> don't judge me. Anyway it was the only way I could have one of each race! And multiples of some races! (though i refuse to touch gnomes, ugh small comic relief races!). Main was Human Female Arcane Mage- Sarinity (or some misspelling of the word cause the correct spelling was taken lol) 2nd Game CoH. (No longer playable) But that's dead now RIP awesome game. 3rd Game SWTOR. (Inactive) Human female Jedi Consular Anveena on Ebon Hawk Human male Jedi Guardian Caleb same server 4th Game GW2. (Inactive) I think my mains name was Anveena Winters? Human female Elementalist 5th Game Marvel Heroes. (Semi-inactive) Just log in from time to time when i need a break from FF 14. Doubleheader I believe is my name there.

That seems to be what he wants, though. He appears to be upset that no one wants to work for an FC house, so they should make player housing more expensive so that people will then want to work on an FC house. No, because it was originally set by Yoshi-P that he wanted people to buy the FC houses BEFORE we even deserve to receive personal housing. Why should he allow any of you to have a personal housing when you guys don't even limit yourselves to actually fund a bigger house? There are plenty of other FCs who actually contributed because they want to share the house and RP together. If you feel like the FC houses are expensive, there are many other ways to gain money and sell items. Even selling shards/crystals/clusters even gain you money. Whichever works out for you. and FYI: I had been paying my own money to fund for my own FC. So please don't jump into conclusions before you make a simplistic accusations unless you are trying to insult me. The house isn't for my own. It is there for others who are in my FC. I just think that personal house is not needed as of right now until 2.6-3.0 because FC houses are still not filled up, like the devs and Yoshi-P said. They had been dropping prices down more and more and if people still refuse to buy them - then that's more delays for players to gain their personal house. I appreciate your personal attacks, but I don't think that still will change how I see in personal housing comparing to FC housing. I find the mind of people's attitude to be extremely negative and shallow because they don't want to share their houses with people and wants things for their own. Large/Medium plot size for FC house should remain as the largest plot for player housing should be what small plot size FC house is currently if that's the case. She reminds me of the wow players, the ones that were not happy unless they were the "special snowflake" that had the ultra rare mount and got some sick and twisted pleasure out of being the envy of everyone else. Capitalism at its best comes to mind lol. I've never understood this mindset, maybe its because I'm a socialist whore! But I could give two shiznits what other people have, I don't feel any need to be a "special snowflake" and if everyone in the game was given a free large house I'd take no issue with this. And I don't ever see myself investing in a FC house at the rates they are currently at. Even at max reduction 26 mil is just too much period. And -IF- the idea is true that they would base player housing off the success rate of FC housing shows how absolutely out of touch with reality the devs are, because FC housing is doomed from the start to be a failure with the prices they were put up as. Anyway this is all speculation at this point, until there is an official announcement we don't know how personal housing will pan out. Other then the reassurance given by Yoshi that they WILL be cheaper then FC housing.
-
Square already stated in certain terms that Player Housing would be much more affordable then FC housing. So your desire to see less people have their own houses won't come true. I have not been into any of the FC houses yet so I can't really comment on how big or small FC houses currently are. Though I agree a large personal house should NOT be as big as a large FC house. That said I don't think a large player house should be like a "studio apartment" with just 1-2 separate areas. And I wont even comment on the FC housing and how ridiculously over priced they are even WITH the devaluation. If housing lots were just one giant strip of houses I wouldn't even care about which LOT i got. But they aren't and there are some lots that are more desirable then the others. And with how FC housing is set up right now, there is only 1 lot I'm interested in, and it happens to be medium and so it is still after all this time sitting at 26 million. My 1.5 mil wouldn't even put a dent in that price. So anyway here is to hoping it's identical to FC housing but perhaps a little smaller and with new community maps.
