Now that we're edging into higher end content and making ready for companies and NMs, the Coral Vanda is looking to fill out our membership with ACTIVE players. Applicants should be close to rank 20 or higher in a combat class and should be able to make at least two guild leve events per week. There are a few classes we are needing to flesh out our groups, these being: -Archers -Thaumaturges -Lancers Please visit us at the above website and submit an application if you are interested. Thank you!

Woot, wasn't expecting it to drop this soon. Looking forward to NMs and the increased chat limit.

Since the PS3 release date has been pushed back to an unknown time it seems folly waiting for PS3 release so we can do things. However you are right, Castiel, in saying that we should wait until there is actually something -to do-. One thought, as far as the Olympics go, would be speed downings of a certain NM. The team to down the NM the fastest wins the event. It's a physical feat as well as one that requires good teamwork.

The Vanda will be taking our own piccie, we have members from all over the globe so scheduling is a bit... weird.

Enmity can be a bit wacky at times but from what I've observed single mob enmity is not broken, but multiple mob enmity is, however there is a solution for that too. I've seen Glads successfully hold aggro and I've gotten to a point to where I can hold aggro as a pugilist by DPS as well as my actual tank abilities. Properly tanking in this game isn't facerolling your sunder key, it's a dance and is a very reactive game. Most tank abilities only work after you successfully evade, parry, block, etc... and if the tank is spamming an action they will likely miss that chance. For example my highest threat ability only works after a successful evade, if I'm not keeping Featherfoot and Light Strike up, my chances of that aren't great. It also adds a stun which is a nice damage mitigation. The way your gear is laid out also has a big effect on a tanks chance to parry/evade/etc... For pulls where you get more than one mob it's helpful to have a tank on each mob, it's possible to hold aggro on two as a pug but you have to do LOTS of swapping back and forth and forget using your tank abilities. Marauders appear to be your best AoE tanks... The exception to all of this is of course when the mobs keep resetting, which I had happen repeatedly to me last night despite being the MT and group leader, with everyone bunched up on me. Mob resetting is what's causing your enmity reset. What I've seemed to notice is that each tank type has their role... -GLA are excellent tanks for really hard single mobs, but fairly rubbish trying to hold aggro on multiple. They also must rely on their shield abilities to properly tank and it may require the group to "slow their roll" so the GLA can establish aggro. Once they do though it is VERY difficult to break that aggro. -MAR are great for pulls where you get a couple mobs, they seem fairly good solo target. -PUG are great off-tanks, if played well they can stand toe to toe with a GLA but when you DO get hit you get wrecked.

Gridania might become more popular when we finally get fast travel. As it stands now it is a PAIN in the butt to get to without anima.

Linkshell advertisement on Remotely Plausible!
Asytra replied to Smiling River's topic in RP Discussion
A very nice idea. Are questions provided to the interviewees before the recording? -
I was quite looking forward to this too. :moogle:

The patcher has been a bit strange. After beta had ended I was pulling patches at around 1.0-1.5MB/sec. However over the past week I've had to resort to using a torrent client to get them faster. Thankfully we at least have that option at our disposal, as some betas I've been in actually bury the torrent inside the downloader executable.

I try to sway more towards the... "if you would be embarrassed for your mom to read it, then you shouldn't post it" camp myself. I find that being negative, especially vulgarly so, spreads like wildfire and tends to make the whole thread toxic. If it's IC... then I usually let the games language describe my limits. For example in FFXIV we have a lot of "arse" and other colorful metaphors. Of course this doesn't mean that Asytra has the mouth of a sailor, despite actually BEING a sailor, but it does give me some guidelines. Besides, colorful metaphors do have their place, I mean would Battlestar Galactica be the same with out a few "fraks" here and there?

The Gamers was good but I preferred the much more polished (and funny) sequel The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. I saw it on Netflix instant streaming too, but it's also worth a purchase. Hopefully they will make a third movie.

It's a step in the right direction but... Did SE REALLY have to separate everything down so distinctly? I mean seriously... just... ARMOR would have sufficed.... Leave it to SE to simplify something by adding more complexity... *sigh*

Yahtzee makes it a point to be entertaining, though. He's pretty clear that his reviews are meant to be taken as such. He also is actually fairly spot on when a game is bad over which technical points make the game bad. I enjoyed some of Fony's earlier reviews but he strikes me as someone that doesn't appreciate the little things. I mean hell... the man reviewed Minecraft and DIDN'T get addicted? He must be a Cylon. :cactuar:

Yeeeah... I retracted what I was going to originally post. It is painfully obvious he was reviewing the beta, mostly because he's been wanting to post that video for about two months now and couldn't because of NDA. What upset me the most is that he rips the game to shreds while it's in a beta state and does so without any disclaimer at the beginning that its a beta. Yet somehow the APB beta received two glowing videos by him and well... we all know where that game ended. Yes Fony, we get it, the game is too deep for you but perhaps be a bit more of a journalist if you're going to do reviews, ne? Also I don't understand why 50% of his video is him running. Yes, there is a lot of running right now, yet multiple fast travel options are coming... yet he mentions none of this. I feel like I'm being a bit of a fangirl but people watch his videos to see if they should check out a game or not and this video is so woefully inaccurate it makes you feel a bit.... :frustrated: I also don't get all the grumbling about the copied terrain pieces... I've only really noticed it on those overpass things in Gridania but.. I mean really... so WoW gets a free pass for all the dozens of identical cave structures? Every inn and town building the same damn building, or a reskin in the case of Duskfall?

They will be let on eventually. The way SE does it is to lock out new character creation for a bit, then they open it back up.

The queue seems to be a bit of a "false positive" After the last crash when I reconnected it said I was in position 254. I disconnected and reconnected and got in fine.

I do say though that unless you have experienced the introductions for each city in beta, they are all extremely cool and you should check them out on Youtube or an alt if you haven't seen them. Other than the guilds and introductions the cities and the areas themselves vary quite a lot... -Limsa can be a pain to navigate, but once you learn the city it's quite easy to get around. The Armorer's and Blacksmith's guild are located here, which can be a huge bonus. Areas outside the city are pretty easy to navigate. Two of the guilds in the city are for classes not implemented yet (Arcanist and Musketeer) Mining and botany nodes are fairly common outside the city, there is a nice spawn of sheep for leather to the south. -Ul'dah is by far the easiest city to navigate. It is also located roughly in the middle of Gridania and Limsa which has several advantages. There is a good mix of guild here. The area outside the city is by far the easiest to navigate. Mobs such as copper coblyns provide great sources of ore if you don't want to mine, there are lots of mining nods too. -Gridania is easier than Limsa but less so to navigate than Ul'dah. There is also a good mix of guilds here. Areas outside of the city can be a pain to navigate, if feels like you are in a maze and not really "free" to move. I don't mine or do botany here because I find it troublesome to deal with the terrain, it is however a good source for fire crystals if you hunt marmots and fireflies. It can be a pain to get to since airships, caravans, and chocobos aren't in yet. Also, watch out for the anglers!

The story so far... Dawn breaks over Limsa Lominsa, as you go down to the docks you notice a large ship that wasn't there the previous night. She is the Coral Vanda, one of the largest and most heavily armed private ships ever assembled at the Limsa Lominsa shipyards. Your curiosity gets the better of you and you approach her. Seated at a desk near the boarding platform a young looking Miqo'te in a hat looks up and notices you. She waves at you and flashes a smile, curious, you approach her. She purses her lips and sizes you up with her large bright green eyes,"Hmm... well I can tell you are certainly a landlubber and from the looks of those clothes, in need of coin too. It's your lucky day, mate, just so happens I'm the Captain of this fine ship and well, we're looking for a few able-bodied sailors." she says. "I can't promise it won't be hard work, we'll be sailing to the far lands of Eorzea and beyond. We'll be exploring not just the sea but the countryside and into the depths of the deepest caves, not just for profit but for the knowledge and scientific finds as well! You may also find yourself aboard the ship as we commence a broadside attack against an enemy vessel, all for the glory of the city-state we possess a Letter of Marque for!" "So what say you? Think you've got what it takes?" Server: Besaid Timezone: EST through PST primarily Language: English (Does not have to be primary language, but you must be fluent in.) He goes "WARK!" when the guy tries to whistle along! :chocobo:

Hopefully they don't nerf cure and buff xp gains because of this. It would severely hurt healers who are playing legitimately.

Nice post, but it might get more views if the title reflected the content. Maybe it's just me, I honestly had no idea what the thread was about going into it.

I'm not a fan of this idea. Seeing how limited the choices are it is more than likely there will be doubles, especially as the game progresses and new linkshells are formed.
