1. After the Wood Wailer ducked in, there were calm, yet content voices outside the door. After a brief, but relatively chipper conversation, Rhesh'ir pushed his way into the inn. The hyur barkeep looked up, nodding with a smirk to the familiar face. The bard removed his hat with one hand, and strolled his way casually to his usual corner. The barkeep put down the wooden mug to grab a clean one, and filled it to the brim. Rhesh'ir's corner was definitely his, as there was no one else in the relative vicinity, and he made quick work of putting his belongings, few though they were, in their proper places. After sitting his lyre against the seat, he walked up to the bar, glancing around at the patrons. He leaned against the counter with his side, still glancing around. "Slow night, is it?" Rhesh'ir asked quietly. The Elezen kept their glances mostly to themselves, and began their own conversation. "You really need to ask that?" the barkeep replied with a chuckle. He returned to cleaning the cups. "Maybe if you started playing now, a few waywards might find their way here before the beasts swallow them during the night." The miqo'te smiled. "What a pleasant thought. I doubt it." At that, he picked up the mug, gave a small nod, and headed back to his corner. After a few gulps, he picked up the harp and began strumming casually. It was just enough to take the silence away between breaths and lulls in conversation.
2. Hello everyone! I know I am relatively new here, and I'm not sure where this would go... But as fellow gamers I felt like I needed to at least share this information with you. On Saturday, November 2nd there is a charity event called Extra Life. It benefits Children's Hospitals all over the country (USA). Basically, you as the player collect donations, then instead of running a marathon or walking 30 miles for a cause, you play video games for 25 hours straight! Usually, you would ask for 1$ per hour played, so a donation of 25$ per person, but you can accept as little or as much as you want. The website makes it super easy. I did this myself last year, and it was great fun. If you have a small group of friends, or even a bunch, all playing games with each other for a full day + 1 hour, it gets pretty insane by the end. My (small) guild in GW2 and I made a team donation page. Feel free to check it out, if you'd like. If you are interested in joining the event, and want company while you do it, we'd love to have you as well! Anyone is welcome. (PM me for details if you're interested. We have skype/mumble on our guild website. ) Or you can make your own page/team. It really is very flexible in what you want to do. You choose your own goals, team/no team, and even which Children's Hospital receives your donations. If you don't want to participate in the marathon, but have a few extra bucks to spare, it'd be great if you could donate either to my page or my team's. Any little bit is awesome and obviously goes to a wonderful cause. Or if you don't have the funds, just encouraging any friends you have involved would be a BIG help too! They will need it mid-way. Trust me. Anyway, I've rambled long enough. Thanks for your time!
3. I am a relatively new player, but there are a few things that I miss/wish were in this game. Preview armour Right click blacklist for spammers Race specific quests More hair! Or more race-specific hair...? Dye options like GW2 would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath More chocobo colours Chocobo breeding/stables (I like chocobos..) More body/face customization options Name changes Buyable "Fantasia" potion (cash or gil) Skinning armour Pet macros There are probably more, but that's off the top of my head.
4. Hello! I am pretty new to this forum as well, but so far everyone seems pretty spiffy. I know how it feels to be the new-to-MMO-rp kid on the block, so feel free to ping Rhesh'ir Zhwan whenever you're in game. (I am in OOC A, as well! ;3)
5. Quite an interesting discussion here. I have always been drawn to the "good guys" type, even in other movies/games/shows. Don't get me wrong--I love being the villain or the lowly grunt too (or watching them work!), but there is something very rewarding to me about doing what many people here have already mentioned. This is very true and very good advice. Being good just for the sake of good in it of itself can be seen as flat and somewhat dull, both to play and interact with. But if a character starts out that way and has their views questioned, the fun part in that--to me--is watching them grow and react to the situations. Most of my characters still surprise me with the shiz they do sometimes. I haven't really had the chance to RP Rhesh'ir more than once, but I can tell he is more allied with "good" than "evil". However, that doesn't mean he's going to rush out and save the world just because his conscience deems it right. It's going to take some development for him to even get his foot out of the door. Or.. forest, as it were. Anyway, I didn't really have anything too important to add. I just wanted to let the OP know that there are other "good character"-loving sorts out there! Play what YOU want to play, and have fun. <3
6. I. Basic Info Characters: Rhesh'ir Zhwan, Jorah Stone, Papaya Paya Primary character: Rhesh'ir Zhwan (Miqo'te, Keeper of the Moon) Linkshells: Aethereal Warriors Primary RP linkshell: Aethereal Warriors II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium Views on RP combat and injuries: Pretty much essential when RPing combat. A healthy balance of giving and taking hits is usually how I roll, unless the character is previously mentally or physically influenced one way or another. Short version--I like to play it realistically, whatever that involves. Views on IC romance: I am open to IC romance, as long as it seems naturally occurring between the characters. I do prefer to keep the action going though, and incorporating those relationships in the field. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Perfectly welcome. I find that non-romantic relationships can be just as rewarding, if not sometimes more so, than just romance. Sibling-like rivalries, or just rivalry in general, mentors, mentees.. I love every kind of interaction. Views on lore: Lore is the basis of RP and should be adhered to as much as possible. Sometimes, things can be in a grey area or fuzzy on details, though. During those situations, as long as the course of action is lore-appropriate and agreed upon between all those involved, I see no problem with it. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): They are pretty much the best means of chat channels I've seen so far in a game. Granted, I don't have much MMO experience, but they seem very useful. I am always willing to use them. III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: Eastern Contact info: LivingLegacy7 - Skype, AIM || Enjin Profile [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]
7. Thanks for the welcome, both of you. I'll be sure to add you. Thanks! :3
8. Hey everyone! I go by Lutra. I am just going to go down the list of intro thingies that I saw, just to make it easy peasy. MMORPG Background: My MMO repertoire is not very long at all. Guild Wars 2 was my first RP MMO. I began RPing my main character for that universe about three months before the game released. Before that, I played Aion and Maplestory. Maplestory? Oh yeah. It was an experience, for sure. And that's it! RP Experience: My experience as an RPer is a little more lengthy, albeit slightly embarrassing! Started out on Neopets when I was 13, in a small guild that had... nothing at all to do with Neopets. Dabbled a bit in AIM with friends for a while. Eventually, I graduated to DeviantArt, and RPed in a few groups there. I owned one for about 2 years, a fantasy setting. The environments were very inspired by FFXII, which is one of my all time favourites of the franchise. It is still open, but inactive at the current time. From there, I went into skype channel and GW2 RP. Character Ideas/Info: I am usually an alt-o-holic, but I am going to -try- to reign in my desires this time, and keep to TWO characters. Yes, I know... it'll be hard. D: But that's what challenges are for, right? Rhesh'ir Zhwan is my main, a Keeper miqo'te. Right now he is a level 18 archer. He is a bard ICly, and the definition of vagabond. Quite honestly, I am very unsure about how miqo'te interact between each other and other people. The wiki gives very little information, other than "they are solitary." Though, I have yet to RP him, I do have some ideas on his character. I just want them to be lore appropriate. From what I've gathered based off gameplay, miqo'te behaviours can vary based on what they have been exposed to. Like with anyone, really. So there is no true "cookie cutter" character model. Either way, I think he'll be fun. ;3 I mean, he's a cat man? Enough said. Papaya Paya is my single alt, a dunesfolk lalafell. Right now she is a level 5 conjurer. I know very little about her character right now, other than that she's a shy, quite one. I am aim to develop and level Rhesh'ir first. How did you learn about the coalition? I did a lot of Google research, and determined that your site and compilations of FCs and LSs were great. I was also impressed by the RP Mentor program. What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I would consider myself a medium RPer. I love RPing and getting to know other people's characters, as well as my own. But I also just like to chill OOCly, do dungeons, and hang out. I am pretty lax with my gaming time, and just want to have fun. Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I work a pretty standard job, 8-4ish each day during the week. Weekends I usually like to remain chill. I have my associates degree in Graphic Design, and I plan on turning that into a Bachelor's starting next year. We'll see how that goes. As far as hobbies go, I love art. I love making it and looking at it. I primarily use digital tools (Wacom tablet, SAI/photoshop) to make my own. I enjoy cooking, watching movies, quoting said movies (over and over again), writing, horseback riding, and console games. (Who else is going to be ignoring all of their characters for Pokemon in a few weeks? Eh? Eh?) Like many of you, I imagine, I am also a big fan of the FF games and many of their related cousins. I've personally played III, IV, VII, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, X, X-2, XII, and XIII. I've watched VIII being played, and hope to finish it soon. I listened to XIII-2 being played in the background but.... meh. I also enjoyed Kingdom Hearts I and II, as well as Birth by Sleep. Star Ocean 3 and 4 were also given many, many hours of my life. Anyway, this intro post has gone on long enough. It's great to be a part of your community, and I look forward to seeing you in game. :chocobo:
