The door quietly opened as a tall, hooded man entered. He carried himself with the air of one who did not wish to be noticed and his eye twitched as he looked around the room and saw how crowded the place was. He did not remove his hood as he made his way to a corner table, moving carefully and gracefully. His face was all but completely masked, a small amount of pale hair briefly visibly as he sat down. The hue of the small amount of skin it was possible to see identified him as one of the Duskwight. Sitting down in such a position as his back was into the corner while he could still watch the door, he pulled a small bone from inside his pouch and began flicking it between the fingers of his right hand with an sense of irritation. His gaze swept the room, taking in each of the occupants and hovering over each one as if he were analyzing them. Between each group, his sight would flit back to the door again as if awaiting an entrant. He silently cursed the fact that he had no choice other than to wait in this place. The sooner his contact arrived, the sooner he could return to more pressing matters.

...so not only did you do the interview without me, YOU KEPT THE RUSSIAN BRIDES TO YOURSELF?! It's like I don't even know you any more, man.
-
Wait wait wait wait wait. Ren, you did an interview without me? *breaks out the rocket launcher* We need to..."talk".

Tyriont stood back up and walked to sit on a crate near Elysia and Ryelle, looking thoughtful. "Doubt you're gonna get much more of an answer from the old man. I've encountered his type before, loves being cryptic. Hell, there's a better than decent chance he doesn't know much more himself right now. Especially given that we don't know much of anything about his benefactor yet. Either way, Ryelle's right...staying around here right now ain't too smart an idea. Just two problems. Firstly, our little instigator here" he nodded his head to indicate the wounded man "and second of all, the Phoenix Flame won't be ready to sail for...how long, Salaah?" The Miqo'te looked over at her Captain and tossed him a rolled up piece of parchment, a quote for the repairs on the ship. "Not too long, Cap'n. A few days at most, luckily she's not too badly damaged." Tyriont nodded. "So we need to lie low for a few days. In the meantime, I'll see what it is that card-man wants. Tales of world saving and general heroism...can't turn that down now, can we?" he said with a grin. "Croix, Wandering Lion...you two will remain here and keep an eye on our guest. Salaah, take Ro'an and Felix. I want you three staying aboard the Flame while it's being repaired, on the offchance someone figures out where our friend here is healing up and decides to get involved. Kira, you're with me. We'll go with the two ladies here - should they wish to get involved with all this card business, of course - and see what this is all about. The rest of you will remain here to help Croix and Wandering Lion. Val, obviously you're free to do what you will as always. You did right by bringing this man to us." He looked up with a start. "Oh, how rude of me. I forgot to answer your question. Ira was someone we were trying to strike a deal with to assist us with some, ah...reallocation of aquired merchandise. They wanted to turn us over to One-Eye since they know me and him don't exactly get along so well. Think she figured that giving him one of the thorns in his side would prove some measure of loyalty so he wouldn't suspect her group as the ones behind his brother's death. As for how we got away..." he chuckled. "We ran like the Twelve themselves were chasing us. Kira here's a dab hand with those little katanas of hers, she created a distraction and we bolted. Lost 'em, luckily enough." He removed his tricorne and ran his hand through his hair, sighing. "Turned out to be a hell of an interesting night, eh?"

One of the reasons I love RPing Ty as a pirate is because of the sense of freedom I get from it. While I'm going to be helping run Spectral Wardens with Ren, I also intend to interact with other shells and freelance RPers as well. This time around, I won't be having Ty's own story be a major driving factor. My villain character will certainly be there, because I love playing him too, but...what's a good example? Ah, I intend to use Ty as Shadow was used in FF6 before he joins the party proper. He'll show up to help out, but may well take off when something he's needed elsewhere. Or gets bored. Ergo, I'm quite interested in this idea.

I love to ERP with random strangers... NPCs... chocobos... lamp posts... fruit... Mmmm Sweet sweet Rolanberry... so juicy... so... purple. How I love thee... *strokes the Rolanberry and gazes at it longingly* Do you mind? I'm having a private moment here! *Stares at book in shock* *turns book sideways, eyes getting bigger* With a MELON?! Don't assume Ren is joking, by the way. That poor lamp post is still in extensive therapy. Don't even ask about the pamama incident...

Meh, I'll throw it in here so that way other members involved can add me, as well as anyone else in the RPC who wants to talk to me for whatever reason (because I'm awesome). MSN and gmail are both under chris dot samano at gmail.com

"Not one to believe in coincidence myself." muttered Croix. "When you deal with the type of situations we do, you tend to learn to be distrustful of them in general. So these invitations...they're invitations to what, exactly?" Before he could get his answer a series of hurried knocks came at the door, seemingly an attempt to perform the passcode to clear entryway into the lair but whoever was trying to do so kept making errors and trying to start over. From the other side of the door, a voice familiar to the gathered pirates came through. "Short, short, long...long...no, short...long...oh, bloody hell! Just open the sodding door, it's me!" The voice seemed somewhat strained and worried. Wandering Lion moved to the door and opened it with a grin. Two people barreled into the room, the Roegadyn closing the door behind them. The smaller of the two figures was a female Hyur, dressed mostly in tight-fitting black clothing and similarly dark skin. Jet-black hair was pulled back into a ponytail that ran down to the base of her spine. She had twin sai drawn and was evidently still prepared to fight, though she was gradually calming down now that they were in safety. The other was an Elezen man, thick black hair hanging loosely around his shoulders. A tricorne rested on his head and he wore a long, dark red coat which hung open to reveal his bare chest beneath. A slim sword hung from a belt loop and a long gun was gripped in his right hand. He looked up, breathing heavily and grinned at the occupants of the room as his deep blue eyes took in each of them. "Evening, lads. Suffice to say, negotiations didn't go quite as planned. Not too sure what happened, but someone's got the underground in a hell of an uproar. People keep talking about a blaze at the Bismarck and some guy who killed One-Eye's brother...so much for setting up an alliance with Ina's lot, she figured she could turn me and Kira over to him as some sort of offering to prove they weren't involved." He stood up straight and stretched out, holstering his gun. "But I'm being quite rude, aren't I? I see we've got company. Pretty company at that." He moved over and gave a sweeping bow to Elysia and Ryelle. A pleasure to meet you, ladies. You may well have figured it out already, but I am Captain Tyriont Gaidal, a.k.a The Black Phoenix." As he came up from his bow, he kissed each of their hands with a roguish grin before turning back to his crew. "I don't suppose any of you lot have heard..." he tailed off as he finally noticed Doc tending to the injured man on the floor. "...oh." Croix nodded, moving to stand next to his captain. "You got that right, Ty. I was at the Bismarck when it happened. Ryelle here..." Croix nodded in her direction "helped me get out in one piece. According to Val, what we have here is the man responsible for the death of One-Eye's brother." Tyriont scratched his head and crouched next to the wounded man. "You've caused no end of trouble, my friend." he said, staring at the man's face. "Don't recognize you though...wonder what your grudge is with One-Eye?" His musings were interrupted by Wandering Lion tossing a card to him. "Oi, Ty. Gerra load o' tha' . Old fella 'ere gave it t'me, says i's fer you." Wandering Lion pointed a thick finger in Doc's direction. "We jus' 'ad an arrow sho' a' t'door wi' ano'er one fer Elysia o'er there." Tyriont turned the card over, examining it closely. "Well, it doesn't quite capture my dashing good looks but it's a decent attempt I suppose. Eorzea needs people to stand up for its survival, does it? Sounds interesting." He turned his head to look at Doc. "What's this all about then?"
-
Croix was staring coldly at Doc, refusing to shift his gaze at Ryelle's question. "He's due back before morning unless things change. Speaking of which, I think it's about time you started answering some questions, old man. I was content to let you stay here until Ty returns, but that was before someone started shooting arrows at our door. You weren't followed?" he asked of Ro'an, who shook his head silently. "That card looks pretty damn similar to the one you gave us for Ty. Who shot that one at our door and how the hell did they know where we were? Nobody could have tailed them through those narrow alleyways without being spotted, there aren't that many corners and sound carries well down there. Or do you have a friend who can fly?" While Croix questioned Doc, Hana had moved over next to Elysia and filled her in on the events of the night which lead to the injured man on their floor. Unseen by the occupants of the room, two dark figures sprinted across the open area viewable from the window, chased by three more. One of the leading figures turned to wave at the pursuers before darting down a dark alley, following the lead of their partner.

Huh, I was wondering why I was suddenly having issues passing through metal detectors. You can have it back now! *stab*

I'm fine. I have something in my eye, that's all. *sob* ...I have something in my other eye. *sob*...I have something in my heart.

Sucks to see your group go, but I wish you well and hope that ToR works out for you. Should I decide to investigate it myself at some point (since it certainly looks tempting) I may look you guys up. ^^

I like my (RP-romance) women like I like my coffee...COVERED IN BEES! Fun response: "No, I'm talking to mine." Then stand back and watch the fireworks as said guy goes all Internet Tough Guytm. It's really easy to say "well, some people just can't keep IC and OOC separate so they suck". Not that anyone's doing that, but it's a common argument. Problem is, we play these characters a lot, RP them a lot. Get inside their heads. Especially those who don't use a lot of alts and just stick with the one character...in a way, they become an extension. It's only natural to feel some sort of "emotional feedback" which can pass over into OOC interactions. The key is to identify them ahead of time and take steps to stop it before friendships are lost, shells ripped aparts and dogs and cats wind up living together.

I prefer to let things unfold naturally so if this happens, so be it...but I have absolutely no intention of seeking out any form of romance RP with Ty this time around. I got lucky in FFXI in that Ty's two most significant relationships worked out very well - with Endinka who made a wonderful foil as the devoted knight to Ty's roguish pirate and the two were often rather unsure around one another. It ended up creating some awesome scenes when those two lives contradicted one another and I recall one written scene which was particularly powerful at the time - everything had basically fallen down around Endi and she'd been illegally imprisoned. Ty's crew rescued her and she was faced with the decision of sticking with him or trying to return to her old life. The crew being camped out, it seemed at first that Endi had left only to find her watching the ocean having decided to stick with Ty. That action had a huge impact on Ty's characterization and affected everything he did from then on. The last relationship was with Raenef, another knight (Ty seemed to love the complicated ones) who was intrigued by Ty and kicked him in the head a lot, but moonlighted as a corsair. Ty was intrigued by her and determined to get into her head. Things developed and the two wound up together which lead to some of the most fun I've ever had RPing. They were still together when we both stopped roleplaying and I like to think the two of them are still off adventuring and beating up poor Aries (Rae's brother). I've never met Endi out of game, Rae and I were together for quite a while, but both ones played out well because of OOC communication. But Ty, you dashingly handsome rogue - I hear you ask - if it worked out so well, why are you determined not to do it this time around? Well, for all the reasons others have given above. Through no fault of her own, Endi often had to leave the game for a while unsure of whether she would return which left Ty kinda hanging - they eventually had a mutual breakup for that reason. It -can- work out really well but it takes a lot of effort...and this time around, I'm not planning on spending anywhere near as much time in-game since I'm way more involved in RL stuff than I used to be. I therefore think it would be unfair to a partner if I wound up absent from the game for a while and left them stranded. Similarly, I've seen far too many issues come up in RL relationships because of IC stuff...I'd rather not a) be the cause of someone else's issues or b) have them come up in my own (when I, y'know, find one again). I've been in both of those examples and I don't care to repeat them. Bottom line: While they can work with excellent OOC communication...frankly, I don't feel like it would be worth the effort at this point in time.

Terajima looked uncertain a moment. Croix had instructed them to lead Ryelle out here but hadn't given any word on what to do should she want to return. She glanced over at Felix who had finally regained his composure and was now looking to her for instruction. Cursing under her breath, she resented being placed in this position...if Croix had been wrong, she'd be directly responsible for leading a potential enemy back to the lair. Fortunately, she was spared from her dilemma by a familiar voice from behind her. "Who're your friends, Tera?" came an inquiry from the Miqo'te approaching the group. She was of average build, but seemed dwarfed by the hulking Hyur highlander walking alongside her. She wore a loose-fitting hooded tunic and linen pants, her sharp green eyes piercing all they turned on. Brown hair hung down to her shoulders, somewhat sodden from sea-spray. Hanging from a loop on her belt was a twisted wand identifying her as a Conjurer. Her companion seemed to have his face twisted into a permanent scowl, an ugly scar stretching over his right eye which was constantly closed. His skin was rough and tanned, obviously a man who had spent a great deal of time in harsh conditions. A think goatee covered his chin and his face was framed by thick hair, as drenched as his companion's. His good eye examined Ryelle and Elysia closely. Terajima spun around, obviously relieved to see the new arrivals. "Salaah! Ro'an! Thank Llymlaen, I'm glad to see you." Terajima wasted no time in bringing her friends up to speed on the current situation, being careful not to reveal too much in front of the as yet untested Elysia. "I see..." Salaah said thoughtfully ash Terajima finished her explanation. She moved gracefully closer to the two women, looking them up and down intently. "If Croix deemed it safe to bring this one back with him, I suppose there's no harm in returning with them. As for the other..." she looked thoughtfully at Elysia for a moment "I don't think she'll be much of a threat to us. You can return with us for now. As far as securing our services...that'll be a decision to be made by Captain Gaidal. We can discuss compensation when he returns. Come." She turned away and lead the way back to the lair of the Phoenix Pirates, with Ro'an silently bringing up the rear. ~~~~~ Croix had been growing concerned about the length of time Terajima and Felix had been gone when he heard the familiar set of raps at the door that indicated a member of the crew was outside. All eyes watched the door open as Salaah's entourage entered, Ro'an locking the door behind them once they were all in. Salaah moved over to Croix and kissed him as a greeting, bringing a smile to the Elezen's face. "Welcome back, sweetheart. How'd it go?" Salaah settled down on a box next to Croix, taking in the inhabitants of the room. "Well. It's surprising how willing the shipwrights are to haggle when Ro'an is around." She chuckled, as a small smirk appeared on Ro'an's lips. "So this is the one who killed One-Eye's brother, eh? Nice one, Val." As she spoke, Croix's attention had turned to Elysia, who was already having a bottle of rum shoved at her by Wandering Lion. "I take it this is Ryelle's mistress, then? Croix Reinard, First Mate of the Phoenix Pirates." He went around the room, introducing Elysia to the crew members she had yet to meet. "I assume you're also wanting to lie low until tonight's events blow over?"
-
Terajima snorted derisively as she watched Cartius leave, ignoring the now hyperventilating Felix next to her. She'd heard the rumors about his attitude towards the "lower classes" and was less than surprised to have them validated. "Stuck up son-of-an-Aldgoat. Looking down on us like - shut up Felix, she wasn't even that pretty - like we're dirtying his precious little view of the world. Hope he gets shanked." She shook her head in disgust and turned back to Ryelle and Elysia. "So, where are you two headed off to now? Gonna be safe enough without hawk-girl?" ~~~~~ Wandering Lion thumped Val on the back before Croix could even answer. "No worries, lad! If 'e wakes up I'll jus' whack 'im on t'head an' knock 'im right back out again. 'e ain't gonna be givin' me no troubles, I'll promise ye tha' much. 'sides, Salaah an' Ro'an oughtta be back 'fore too long an' we're 'spectin' Ty an' Kira 'fore mornin'. Ye ain't got nothin' t'worry 'bout, lad." As he was issuing his reassurances, Hana pushed a steaming bowl of vegetable stew into the hands of both Val and Wandering Lion. "Eat up, boys. You'll need your strength if you're planning on beating up wounded prisoners" she said with a low chuckle.
-
Llymlaen, without a doubt. With Ty as a pirate, she's the obvious choice for him to follow. He won't be a devoutly religious type though and will more be the type to yell out a request for Llymlaen to keep them safe through a storm or somesuch.
-
Terajima shook Elysia's hand offered hand and gave an exaggerated, mocking curtsey to Cartius, smiling sweetly. She had heard of him, of course. Everyone had in their line of work, their ships were considered quite the lucrative targets although too well protected to be worth the trouble for any but the largest or most foolhardy crews. She decided to have a little fun. "Pray forgive our detainment of your vassal, my Lady. Alas, there was quite the disturbance in the city tonight...brigands at the Bismarck, don't you know. Such a shame. We felt it our solemn duty to ensure that Miss Ryelle did not get caught up in such unpleasantness. As she has explained, we operate in...goods redistribution. We see to it that cargo reaches the correct destination." Not technically a lie. It just so happened that their view of the correct destination differed from the owner's. She turned her attention to Cartius. "Might I be so bold as to enquire as to what brings the great Lord Mavanix to our humble city?" Next to her, Felix was standing stock-still trying to mask the look of sheer terror that was crossing his face. He wanted nothing more than to leave this situation, but Terajima's wicked streak had kicked in again. He silently wished for a distraction, but none came to his rescue. ~~~~~~ Croix stared thoughtfully out of the window of the pirate's lair. The man who had killed One-Eye's brother seemed to be in less pain but was still nowhere near the point where he could be reasonably questioned. Wandering Lion had launched into a long, bawdy song about the exploits of the One-Eyed Samurai and Croix was thoroughly convinced that he was making it up as he went along by this point. He wished that more of the crew would return...they were now down six, including two of their strongest fighters. Wandering Lion's strength would surely be enough to restrain the man physically when he awoke...it was the potential for magical assaults that had him concerned. All the remaining pirates lacked any form of training in the magical arts and without Salaah around there was little they could do should he turn out to be powerful. He sighed and stared at the evening sky, praying the excitement was done for the night.

Yup, there's a reason their tagline is "TVTropes will ruin your life"
-
Terajima lead the way through twisting back alleys, making sure to take several detours that while increasing the length of their journey would hopefully greatly reduce the chance that Ryelle would be able to locate the hideout again without assistance. They moved in single file with Felix bringing up the rear, a decision Terajima was quick to regret given the youth's tendency to trip over objects lying in his path while his gaze was fixed pointedly upon Ryelle's rear. She had given up after admonishing him for the third time and decided to treat the issue as adding to confusing the woman as to the directions. If nothing else he had at least kept her talking, explaining that the Flame had not been seriously damaged but due to traversing storms was in need of some routine maintenance to ensure it continued to sail smoothly. He had also babbled on about no end of inconsequential trivia, but fortunately was intelligent enough not to reveal anything that would cause problems for the crew. Eventually they came out into a large, open area which was well lit by lamps as well as the bright moonlight - the docks. The area was filled with the usual bustle, despite the relatively late hour. Looking around, she managed to pick out a familiar looking Miqo'te haggling with a group of tradesmen and made a mental note of the location. Nothing else struck her as particularly important - no sign of the Captain, which was to be expected. Dockhands carefully unloading cargo from ships, a tall man in a hooded cloak was conducting dealings in a dark alleyway, exchanging a pouch of gil for some strange looking liquid in vials. A sailor had obviously just returned from a long voyage given the rather enthusiastic greeting he was cirrently recieving from what Terajima assumed was his sweetheart. Leading the way forwards, she moved up to a viewing area and indicated the landing bays to Ryelle. "So which is the one you're after, eh?" she asked, leaning against a railing lazily.
-
Felix blushed as he felt Ryelle's eyes on him, the youth unsure of how to relax. She had his hand clasped tightly and he was fighting the conflicting urges to pull away or stay exactly where he was. "I...erm...that is to say...I know the way, that I do, but..." Croix sighed, rolling his eyes at the poor flustered boy. "It's fine, Felix. Regardless of how trustworthy Ryelle seems, I'd rather not have her leave unescorted regardless. Take Tera with you as well, a couple of innocent-looking Hyur like the two of you are least likely to attract attention. Should you happen across any of the other four while you're out, fill them in on what's going on up here. The Captain and Kira are likely still out on their task...but Salaah and Ro'an are likely down by the docks somewhere arranging for the repairs to the Flame." He moved over to a box by the wall and rummaged around inside it, eventually removing a small cylindrical object and passing it to Terajima. "Tera, take this. If you run into any of One-Eye's men that you can't handle, you know what to do." Terajima took the tube and shoved it into her belt-pouch. "Aye, Croix. Don't worry, we'll see her safe. Us too." She had moved over to the weapon racks and had removed two serrated daggers which she twirled expertly in her hands before thrusting them into their corresponding belt-loops. She unlocked the door and slipped outside, indicating for Felix and Ryelle to follow. Nearby, Wandering Lion was laughing uproariously as he was regaling anyone who would listen with tales of the legendary "One-Eyed Samurai", inspired by Doc. "An' tha's when e' gave t'bird t'whole thing!" he recited with a grin. "Ain't 'eard them stories in many's a year, mate. When we was still jus' startin' out, me an' Ty we 'eard 'em an' made sure ta spread 'em. Ty, 'e was convinced some bloke we knew were the Samurai, bu' 'e weren't e'er able t'prove it." Beside him, Chirichi had obtained a small stick and was poking one of the unharmed parts of the patient to ensure he wasn't going to leap up at him.

Captain Gaidal's Cupcakes Cupcakes - a treat enjoyed by everyone all over Eorzea. Captain of the Phoenix Pirates, Tyriont Gaidal, developed his own recipe which introduces a fundamental change to the basic design and makes it thoroughly unsuitable for children. To use the Captain's own words: "Rum makes everything better!" WARNING: Contains alcohol. Obviously. It's Ty. Rum Cupcakes 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted 1 18-1/2 ounce yellow cake mix 1 1-3/4 ounce (4-serving size) instant vanilla pudding mix 4 eggs, room temperature 1/2 cup cold milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup dark rum 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. 2. Line muffin pan with paper liners. Sprinkle toasted pecans on the bottom of liners. 3. Combine all cake ingredients in a large stainless steel bowl. Beat for 2 minutes on high with electric mixer. 4. Pour batter into prepared cups. 5. Bake for 27-29 minutes or until toothpick comes out of center completly clean. 6. Cool on a cooling rack. Prick top of cupcakes with toothpick. 7. COOL CUPCAKES COMPLETELY, then dip cupcakes into Buttered Rum Glaze. Buttered Rum Glaze 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/4 cup water 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup dark rum 1. Melt butter in saucepan. 2. Stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. 3. Remove from heat and stir in rum. Be very careful when adding the rum, it will cause steam, so you do not want to brn yourself on this step! Buttercream Frosting 1 package(s) 16 ounces, confectioners' sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 4 Tbsp milk, plus up to 2 tablespoons more, as needed As much rum as you wish, without ruining the consistency. 1. Before starting, place your stainless steel bowl and the arms for mixer into the freezer, for about 5 minutes. The cold bowl and arms form stiffer peaks in your frosting. 2. In large bowl, with mixer at medium-low speed, beat sugar, butter, vanilla, and 4 tablespoons milk until blended. 3. Increase speed to medium-high; beat until light and fluffy, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. 4. Beat in more milk as needed for easy spreading consistency. 5. Once the cupcake is glazed, a dollop of of buttercream frosting added, drizzle remaining glaze over the top of the buttercream and insert a vanilla filled Pirouette cookie if you wish.

Felix nodded, unable to look straight at Ryelle but instead staring at his feet and blushing. "That's right, Miss. Not just the Captain though, none of us feel right bowing down to One-Eye, that we don't. Most of them pay dues to him, that's true...but there's those of us who won't submit so easily, no we won't. It's part of why we're still a smaller crew even after so many years. We've talked about openly opposing him before, trying to bring it down...but there's only so many of us. He has a lot of flunkies and most of us...we're not enough. We can hold our own on a raid, that we can, but we're seafarers by trade. A war against One-Eye would be fought in the city...that's not even considering how many innocent townsfolk would be killed during a fight." Felix shook his head sadly. "Truth is, most of us are pretty much on par with a run-of-the-mill adventurer...there's only the Talons of the Phoenix that'd be capable of doing much against him and even they'd be overwhelmed. That's the other reason we use this place...the outer wall is nigh-impossible to climb and the stairway is tall and narrow, so it's easy to defend, that it is."
-
Wandering Lion laughed at Ryelle's words, moving over to slap her roughly on the back. "Ain't no need t'worry 'bout politics, lass! Jus' punch 'em in t'face, seems t'work ou' fer me!" He took another swig of rum and sat down on the floor next to her. Croix shot Val a wry grin. "Quite. Of course, don't tell Val that I have Hana whip up special plates just for him that have...extra ingredients added." He crouched next to the wounded man and examined him intently. "Kills One-Eye's brother, then surrenders...just who are you?" He glanced up at Val. "Did anyone see you get him away? I imagine that One-Eye will be coming down in this poor sod with full force once things settle down a bit. Granted, he's in no position to be moved any time soon...but I'd rather avoid getting into a full scale war against him." From the corner, Chichiri gulped nervously. "A...war? With One-Eye?" he shuddered. "Scary..." Epilleve moved over and ruffled the tiny pirate's hair playfully. "Don't worry, Riri!" she beamed, trying to encourage him. "Val's, like, stealthy! Besides, even if anyone did see him then Croix and Ty will figure it out! You know how all crazy smart they are when they think together!" Her words were bouncy and enthusiastic, seeming quite out of place amongst the roughness of the rest of the crew. Chichiri smiled up at her somewhat weakly. "I guess...I guess you're right. I'll try to be brave." He folded his arms and tried to look serious, resulting in an expression that looked more comical than intimidating.
-
Croix watched the events unfold with mild curiosity. He had a feeling that the old man working on the patient was telling the truth when he said he knew what he was doing, though he seemed to have a twisted sense of humor. Hana and Tera had finished their preparations and were crouching next to Doc, bundles of clean, steamed linen torn into strips to be used as bandages. His mind was racing...Val had certainly brought them something interesting if the man really was involved with One-Eye...the story made sense, Croix did vaguely recall seeing someone looking like this man during the brawl. One-Eye...he'd been a problem for the crew for quite some time now. Very much the opposite viewpoint to their own group, that man was rumored to rule his criminal empire with an iron fist, thinking nothing of employing blackmail and exploiting innocents. If this man would be able to provide some sort of information that would help against One-Eye's lot he would be useful indeed. His attention was caught by Val's inquiry and he noticed Ryelle glancing towards the exit. "Her name is Ryelle. She was caught up in the blaze as well, helped me get out. Some kind of trader, evidently. We brought her here until things died down. Don't worry, Ryelle" he smiled kindly at her "he won't be able to start anything with us here. Besides...from what Val says, it sounds like he's got some trouble with One-Eye. As they say, the enemy of my enemy...he could prove useful to us. Regardless though, once the Doc here is done with him we'll make sure he's well restrained. We'll have quite the amount of questions for him..." His attention turned back to the nodachi resting against the wall. "Fascinating...this isn't a weapon that would be carried by some random thug. Whatever this man's issue with One-Eye is, he's got resources. You said One-Eye's brother is dead? Killed by this one?"
