I guess I'm surprised this has become an issue. I missed the initial discussion today while I was at work, but reading this one has me a little put-off. While I understand joining an established server with an established economy can be daunting, asking the RPC (where the majority of RPers, if not all of us, are currently placed on Balmung) to relocate to a new server is even more daunting. We don't even know that Legacy characters will be allowed to transfer to new servers yet. It's a K.I.S.S. situation to me, more than anything. Many of the new RPers have chimed in that they're perfectly fine with making their character on the established Legacy server to join the existing RP community there. If we were to move, in order to keep the community together, to a new server.. it would be a massive undertaking. Not all RPers on Balmung regularly visit this website. What if they were to log in, unaware that we had moved (if we even can), and discovered everyone had left for a new server based on a vote they hadn't even known existed? I'm sure many RPers on other servers (they did exist, after all) in 1.0 felt slighted that we had chosen Besaid back in the day and they did not know it.. At the present time, when we do not know if SE will be designating a new server for RPers, or if Legacy characters are able to transfer (please correct me if they did tell us), I don't understand why this is being debated on..

Welcome! I just saw on the wiki that Rakka'li had a twin and I'm pleased to see it's a PC not a NPC! Excited to see you both in action (and get terribly confused who is who!). The mute aspect of the character should be interesting to see. I haven't seen it done successfully yet without some sort of gimmick. I was on Lakshmi after Garuda merged to it for some time but I'm not familiar with your name from there, dang. I recently returned while waiting for ARR.. transfered over to Siren with some XIV friends.

Just grab some people who have posted in the character reference thread! Many of our newer members don't know what their character will look like yet because they haven't got to play with the character creator yet.

I'm happy that I'm finally done with the five-year hell known as University and did so well during it. I'm happy I have found a great job that I really enjoy with my degree. I'm happy I have a husband who takes me to new places sometimes like the grill we went to last night where I had the most amazing cesar salad with salmon ever, and then comes home and plays FFXI with me. I'm happy that during the last few years on this silly game I have found some true friends that stand by me.

Urianger was that GM, not Nael. Lol. And man, that final night.. I got DC'd when I was in Mor Dhona and every time I managed to get back in and where the fighting was I lagged out again. ;-; It was awwwwfuuul. Finally I was like screw dis and waited in my inn room.

I've had access since the first Alpha Phase. Also, my character from 1.0 is probably going to get deleted; my highest level on him is 11, needless to say I realized I wasn't getting my money's worth and never came back. I just assumed that I'd be treated as if I had bought the CE before because I have. CE buyers from 1.0 had early access. I can't afford pre-ordering. Not in my financial situation. I just despise falling behind. Meh. Guess I'll be absent for that week. But you're right. It is indeed very generous of them to offer the client free to all whom came before, and $30 for those who didn't. Just remember it's not a race, and you'll have plenty of people to help you "catch up" too if you really are concerned about that. As well as there will be plenty of people who are not pre-ordering.

Welcome! I can sympathize. 1.0 killed my desktop's graphics card. Luckily I managed to milk it until the very end, but I had to get a new one for ARR.

It was really an awesome experience to see the game evolve OOCly from a mechanics point of view. Seeing them introduce things based on what we wanted to make the game actually fun to play. 1.0 before they shut down was actually a very fun game that had potential on its own. The battle system was very fun with combos and the endgame content was challenging (though still infuriating, as endgame content can be). The fact that the devs kept feeding us amazing story and lore and huge updates that made the game more playable and fun to keep us entertained while they rebuilt it from the ground up made me feel awesome. Go SE! ICly, it was something epic to experience. It was awesome watching the NPCs react (first appearance of the GM Archon warning us, starting up the Grand Companies, the Lambs of Dalamud cult etc.) and being a part of it all with our characters, seeing Dalamud get closer and more terrifying with every patch.. Dealing with the "end of the world" ICly and such.. hnng. I love going through journals and seeing how characters dealt with the changes. While you missed it, and it was indeed really fun, don't kick yourself too much!! ARR is going to have a lot of epicness you'll get to experience too!
