1. This group doesn't look right for J'ruzho, but... perhaps if I decide to make a second character, I may consider making them a treasure/artifact hunter type and applying to your company. I always liked the scholar class (with less than zero reasons for J'ruzho to be one, or even use magic of any kind, ICly) and being a treasure hunter and researcher of long lost knowledge could be a very fun character to rp. I'll let you know if I end up making the character.
2. By the twelve... that just looks...super uncomfortable. Do they have any idea what laying like that for extended periods of time does to your shoulder and neck? Those parts of the body were not made to support 90% of your upper bodyweight... No wonder Elezen are such jerks, they're walking around with constant neck cramps.
3. We'll see how much we can heal with 100% from Inner Beast but I don't see how this reduces the fearsomeness of this skill? The fact that we get a 20% damage reduction buff for 6 seconds is crazy! In my eyes its like.. The Warrior smacks the boss with Inner Beast, after words he lets forth a powerful warcry which heals him (by 100%) and then all of a sudden.. his body hardens/stiffens or the wrath which he just blow on Inner beast coats itself on the warrior's armor/skin for the damage reduction. I dunno, something random I just came up with right now.. It seems pretty badass how I'm picturing it in my head. -shrug- Hmm, I think it's more like a barbarian's rage. He becomes so filled with resolve, anger, and inner strength that not only does he shrug off his existing wounds, but new ones are nothing to him. Pain is in ones mind, and they have the strength to ignore it.
4. Never underestimate the creativity of perversion. Hmm, I feel like I should add something relevant to the conversation. It's kinda weird how he's so scared of it. As people said, just look at the dialogue. It's not even limited to certain races, some of the Lalafell npcs have the most perverse dialogue I've ever seen in an MMO, it's hilarious.
5. ((I think you posted in the right spot. That's where journals go, and backstory is kind of a journal beginning. Actually, they had moved my backstory thread to the Balmung Directory, so you should be good. You may want to consider making your backstory thread into a general OOC journal like I did so you can just add new things as your character experiences new things and learns and grows. Just a thought, that was my reasoning for doing what I did. Whoops, meant to PM that, didn't wanna clog up your thread, lol. Well, already put a deletion request, hope you see this before it gets killed))
6. Ack! I didn't realize it was an already existing emote with new functionality. That answers it then, it's only for laying in beds. Bugger all....
7. It doesn't say specifically, but it's pretty heavily implied. "Well, the cool thing is... you really will be able to relax on those beds! By getting near the bed and using the following emote you'll hop right on!" Actually, re-reading it, it could be like /sit, where it has a more generic resting option if you're not next to a bed, and it hops you into the bed when you're near one. One can only hope... This. So much this. Nothing like adding a bit of flavor to your standing, instead of always being in the same pose all the time. Sure, it's interesting that certain emotes actually change your facial expression, but bodylanguage is a huge part of communication
8. Good point on seeing if the other races (and genders) are portrayed as resting or sleeping, K'nahli. Guess we should wait on the emotes to be implimented (I do know that I was actually looking for a way to rest in my bed at the inn, finding I could only sit in it, haha). Still wish we could have it for everywhere, and not just the beds. I see no reason we can't get comfortable on the floor. Or a restaraunt table.
9. From my understanding, everybody is in a bit of a...disagreement on the details. I remember one the town opening npcs saying "there's as many versions as there are people to tell them" or something like that. So pertaining to your backstory, I think you could ICly remember vividly your version of what happened, but it'll be just that, your version. And it would be different from everyone else's version, Although I'm pretty sure everyone has Bahamut, or at least some great horrible dragon, in their retelling. I'm pretty sure a few npcs have directly referred to it as Bahamut. Should this be frustrating in character, though? I say hell yes. The npcs seem annoyed as is that nobody can seem to agree on the details. I'd say it'd be even more annoying for someone who's memories are super clear but don't mesh with everyone else's memories. One thing's for sure, nobody remembers who the warriors of light are exactly, they just know that they were adventurers. Of course that's all from a non-warrior of light perspective (since the warriors of light are the players that played through the calamity) so I wouldn't know if the actual light warriors would retain that they were the heroes, what with time skipping magical huju involved.
10. I do believe it may have something to do with the bikini. Because really, it seems like they were trying to portray it that way cause of the bikini. In regular clothes I agree it's a very normal "cutely laying down" pose though.
11. Y'know what, I find this idea hilarious and awesome. Find some way to talk J'ruzho into it if you do this, I'm totally game. Although now he needs a swimsuit... This. I'm so sick of seeing people complain about the "sexualization" of the Miqo'te. If it were the Roe or Lala doing this you'd all be bitching just the same. It's irritating. Honestly it wouldn't bug me at all if it was treated the same for each race. But whatever, it doesn't even matter, because you can't bring people into your room at the inn... Wait, I just realized something. Player housing! Isn't that going to be a thing? This'll probably work there as well, if it ends up being made.
12. Wait what? Why do Miqo'te not look like they're at least trying to rest? Seriously should be two separate emotes, laying like she is and laying like the Lalafell is. Already disappointing that you can ONLY do it in Inns. That was the fastest disappointment ever.
13. J'ruzho may stop bye to spectate the training session for a bit tonight. I know IC it would make more sense for me to jump in head first fists-a-flyin' but 10 pm is already pretty close to my bed time. Work starting at 7 am is really annoying.
14. A flyer on the wall of The Quicksand caught J'ruzho's eye. He tore it off to give it a closer look, intrigued at the strange design: on it shown a green plantlike creature with a large, gaping, tooth filled maw, spears pointing in all directions behind it, all of which was atop a wooden shield. The top of the flyer read "The Eorzean Hunter's League". Upon reading further, it seemed to be an advertisement for a group of hunters seeking fortune and/or glory. This was perfect, J'ruzho thought, and he set out right away to find this league so that he may join them on their hunts. Having found the Hunter's League in their temporary base in Ul'dah, J'ruzho discussed his desire to join with their leader, Khaze'to Zhwan. There was a quick "interview process" - J'ruzho was tasked to hunt a pack of Mongrels. His task was to be overseen by league member Lainseworth Ravencraft. He was given a very odd device he had never seen before, a linkshell, to contact Lainseworth when he was ready. J'ruzho set out to complete this task without hesitation. J'ruzho successfully completed his task...about five times over. He had forgotten that the Lalafell had to be present before beginning his hunt until having defeated four packs. Despite this slight oversight, he was accepted into the Eorzean Hunter's League. Awaiting further quarries to be tasked to him by the League, J'ruzho decided to continue adventuring in the mean time to find what other new situations he can get himself involved in.
15. Born and raised in a relatively small band of the Jackal tribe that made their home deep within the Sagolii Desert, J’ruzho spent most of his life disconnected from the outside world. With his large, strong build, he was a natural hunter, and would often take down his quarries with his bare hands. After the Calamity destroyed most of their hunting grounds, his band could no longer afford to live in isolation. J’ruzho was one of the few chosen to assist in negotiations with the city of Ul’dah. Upon laying his eyes on the city for the first time, J'ruzho was struck with sudden awe. The city was grander than anything he could have ever imagined. The walls looked to him like the face of a great mountain. The market was full of wares unlike anything he had seen before. The bustling noise of the busy streets were nearly thunderous. But before he knew it, the negotiations were over and he was on his way back to his band's territory, leaving the city behind. Years passed. Life eventually returned to normal, the grand city becoming a distant memory. J’ruzho had returned to his hunting. He showed increasing prowess, until one day he was approached by the band elder. Due to his great strength and skill in hunting, he was to be considered for the role of Nunh. However, he would have to prove himself truly worthy. He thought of what it meant to be Nunh, the honor that all Tia strive for. This was something that he truly wanted. It was then that J’ruzho remembered the grand city of Ul’dah. He thought of what else he had not experienced in his time with his band, of all the amazing sights he had not seen, of all the quarries he had not the chance to hunt, of all the many things he had not done. J'ruzho had quickly thought up a way to satisfy both of his desires. And so, he suggested to the elder that he would go out into the world. He would make a name for himself that would be unquestionably worthy of the title and responsibility of Nunh, and he would gain the strength to expand their territory upon his return. The elder found this to be acceptable, and so J’ruzho set out on his journey. For strength, glory, and to experience all.
16. Actually, that analysis makes a lot of sense. I didn't quite put that much thought into the relationships between the gods, but it seems to actually have meaning. For example, Fate/Destruction's children being War and Craftsmanship can signify that both War and Craftsmanship are products of the combination of Fate and Destruction. War being more on the pure destruction side as well as the ending fate of some civilizations, craftsmanship being about "destroying in able to build", as you've said, as well as the advancement of civilizations. I'm not sure if I said that in a way that makes sense... Anyway, I think a good place to start would be to look at all of the twelve Gods and their relationships with one another. This could lead to us being able to infer a lot of things.
17. I guess my character was inspired by a weird combinatin of: Goku from Dragonball Wakka from FFX Kevin from Seiken Densetsu 3/Secret of Mana 2 ...And a little of my own stuff mixed in cause of lore, playstyle, and, well, me. I just like the more carefree, adventurous type of skilled fighter that's not so great at most other things.
18. I just found this thread, so here's a picture of me from right now, despite it almost being 2 am... I should get some sleep.
19. I was messing around taking some screenshots of J'ruzho, and so here they are. J'ruzho under the desert sun.

Naming

I've changed my mind on the whole naming thing. In just walking through The Quicksand, every single Miqo'te I saw had a non-Miqo'te name. It irked me... It makes me look at my name too, and wonder if it's a decent Miqo'te name or not...
21. He deftly catches the bag and smiles without even looking inside. His smile widens as he feels the weight of the bag while dextrously placing it into a pouch at his side. "I cannot deny that the pay is good." He pats the pouch at his side, now filled with coin. "Very good. But I care more about thrill of the hunt. I hope the next quarry for me is something even more interesting, and more challenging! There is plenty I have yet to see. I'll be waiting!" Chuckling, he turns to leave, but not before giving a polite bow to the Lalafell. "You were not so bad yourself! May we hunt together again sometime." With another laugh, he walks out the door, nodding politely to the man at the doorway as he passed, his near ever-present smile still on his face as he disappeared in the city crowd.
22. Shortly after the knock on the door, it swung open. A tall, dark-skinned Miqo'ta entered with a large smile on his face. The sounds and smells of the outside city flooded the room as the man briskly approached the desk, leaving the door ajar behind him. "I did it! I passed the first test!" The man stood infront of the desk in a very self-gratified manner with his arms crossed, the wide grin still painted on his face. His ears wiggled up and down excitedly as he continued. "It was no problem! Took out a few more than I needed to, but that only made it more fun, yes?" He chuckled to himself. "So all you need is the proof? It should be right..." He sifted through his pockets as he spoke, but stopped abruptly, the smile on his face fading and his ears drooping. He put his head in his palm, letting out a dissapointed hiss. "I gave it to the Lalafell! Wait, wait, he should be here soon I think! He should have been right behind..." He turned to the doorway, scratching the back of his head and laughing nervously.

Naming

I was going to say exactly this. Naming conventions are for typical characters of that race, born and raised in a typical atmosphere. If I see somebody with an unconventional name, I usually assume OOCly that there is some story behind it if they're rpers.
24. -- Authors Introduction -- Hey all. So I decided to retrofit my backstory thread into a general thread for my character's history. This is all stuff that can also be found on the wiki but I figured that it would be good to have it here on the forums as well. Quick note: the prologue has been edited slightly after reading the discussions about Miqo'te lore. I really hope that I'm keeping this very in tune with the lore as far as his backstory goes. I also did some changes to make it read better. Also, I made him a little older. His current age is now 26 instead of 20, meaning he was about 21 at the time of the Calamity, not 15. I felt this worked better with his story, for what he had accomplished thus far and for what he had yet to accomplish. Please, let me know what you think!
25. Actually, you just reminded me that I was supposed to buy that, haha. I think we're actualy going to use it in conjunction with our game next time we play Shadowrun. Also, thanks everyone for the welcomes! Don't want to make it seem like I'm ignoring you just because I don't have any specific responses, I appreciate every welcome I get! Hope to see you all in Eorzea! You'll probably spot me dashing all over the place, especially in Ul'dah, feel free to stop me and chat if I pass you by, I won't mind! Just because I'm dashing everywhere doesn't mean I'm in a hurry. Edit: So, in my research on Maqo'ta, I'm feeling a bit discouraged now about my choice of race. Not because Maqo'ta are common, but because male Maqo'ta are extremely common when they're supposed to be rare. I'm not sure why this bothers me, and I'm not sure if I would want to start over since I do like my character and have been doing a lot of thinking about how he would act coming from a tribe, I just felt I should mention it. Forget what I said, I just thought of a backstory that I love! I'll be writing it up now.
