New concept. Subterranean underground networking linkshell. For people who like to keep their business subtle, discrete, and with at least 20 feet of dirt above their heads! All joking aside, though, I had never seen this LS until now - probably because it seems like it came around when I took an unfortunate RL critical hit and wasn't really around for a while. Whoopsie! Sounds like something I would personally be interested in, though a little different from the kind of LS I'm envisioning. My idea is not so much dark RP focused, since not everyone involved in these circles is necessarily as fond of or as ICly suited towards dark RP. Basically, my goal was to be as inclusive as we can to make as many connections and to share as much information as possible. Edit: And yeah! Stringing together organizations is one of my main goals with the LS.

Hey everyone! While thinking last night about how excited I am about delving into Meiko's RP and whatnot, I came to a realization: There are a lot of people in this game whose characters and groups are ICly connected to the "underground" circles of the city-states / Eorzea as a whole to varying degrees.. but no real, cohesive source of OOC networking for these character types. Sure, just about every criminal organization, crooked business, band of bounty hunters, or group of mercenaries has it own method of staying in touch with its own and its associates. But there is no real hub of overarching OOC communication and networking with the bigger picture. As such, not only does it make the 'underground' feel a little background-y, handwave-y, and lifeless, but it also makes it difficult for characters who have an extensive list of contact: you essentially have to sacrifice a linkpearl slot to every organization you know and/or associate with. Not convenient, fragmented, and takes up waay too much space. So, what I am asking is this: If there was a linkshell on Balmung dedicated to serving as an OOC source of networking and communication between 'underground' characters/groups across the community as a whole, would you or would you not be interested? If there is sufficient interest, I'll be starting up this linkshell likely before the week's end. That said, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, suggestions - whatever you like! And if you have any cool ideas for names, post those too! (I absolutely cannot come up with anything that sounds cool but doesn't cross over into hokey. Haha.) * NOTE: By 'underground', I am not referring exclusively to unlawful, unmoral, evil, or otherwise antagonistic characters. It can also encompass the morally neutral and even good-align characters as well. I simply define 'underground' as anyone whose business, trade, skills, etc. don't lend themselves well to the public eye, who tend to work in the shadows or pulling strings behind the scenes, and/or anyone who has notable connections to this world. For some examples, think thieves, information brokers, black marketeers, smugglers, bounty hunters, crooked law enforcement, even non-crooked law enforcement whose investigations put them in regular contact with the underground.

Ten minutes after the office opens. First phone call of the day. "Good morning! Can I help you?" I say cheerily. Without skipping a breath, the person in the other end - obviously irate - states very angrily: "Yeah. I've got a problem." You know how sometimes, there's just something that tells you "Today will test your ability to withstand the public."? Some kind of odd customer service premonition? It has not disappointed.

I don't know why, for the 100th time, I've tried to pick up tumblr when it does nothing but find new and interesting ways to frustrate me every time I make the attempt. But.. I need help. (Surprise, surprise.) Meiko's tumblr: silentfootfalls.tumblr.com I've added a Quote post, as you can see. But holy light colored text on light colored background, Batman! I've Google searched every single unhelpful resource on the Internet and found nothing. Hoped I might find something here, but didn't find anything specific to what I was looking for. There's no options on the Edit Theme side of things to change colors for this. This is literally all I have for color options here: I thought maybe "Title color" was what affected the Quote posts' color since the colors are so similar. But after messing with it, I was wrong. And for the life of me, I can't find anything anywhere that even remotely affects the Quotes. Somebody haaalp. I'm completely tumblr illiterate but I want to post my drabbles and pictures and music and art like all the cool kidsssss. ;A;

I have no idea what you mean... ( All but Kakamani were AFK, but he was still loading in or something. He didn't move until after I had taken the shot. AND he took a screeny! So it just seemed right to include it. :lol: ) The Order of the Creepy Moogle groweth.. Except Chachanji is too adorable to be creepy, even as a moogle. -
Just busted out laughing at work because now all I can think about it this: Warning language and stuff. 0yKqKg6DfTY

Your character's OOC nationality.
chaoticsleepy replied to ChewableMorphine's topic in Character Workshop
Meiko is pretty easy, to the point where I don't even have to justify it. Japanese-English. Moving on. Xheja is harder. Based on appearance and physical features, I get a vague Pacific Islander feel from her. Thinking a bit back to the vague notions I have of her tribal life, I suppose that sort of kind of fits, too. But if we're talking the influence of her appropriated city culture? English, all the way. N'hadiya is just such a mutt, I can't even begin to put her in one nationality / ethnicity. -
I'll bite! c: Xheja Rajhera: Xheja's name is a one I made up with Keeper naming conventions in mind. I really was aiming for something exotic and remote-sounding, hence why I didn't go with any of the more "standard" Keeper names, as I imagined her tribe being pretty far removed from everyone else. I also really wanted to play around with the miqo'te 'hissing' sound and whatnot, hence all the 'h's in her name. Fun fact! Even though everyone pronounces her name something like "zay-jzuh", the actual pronunciation is more akin to "zshay-ah". With the funny little miqo'te hiss. When I first started out with her, she actually would introduce herself as 'Shae' on occasion as it was the closest equivalent to her name. But she's so ICly used to it now and I'm so OOCly used to it, I just let it fly. N'hadiya Khei: Not much to say here. N'hadiya is a name recycled from this character's first iteration, which I chose because it sounded like the real name Nadya. Which I love. Meiko Amano: Oh gosh, where to even start with Meiko. First, I guess I should mention that her name is actually Meiko Jameson. Her mother was Doman, but her father is very much Lominsan. However, given their less-than-lovely relationship with him, she and her sisters decided to drop his surname and adopt their mother's maiden name soon after she passed away. (Something which he really, really did not like.) As for 'Meiko', in Japanese, it is written non-traditionally as 明子. Typically, those kanji would be read as 'Akiko'. But for OOC reasons, because I really like the sound of 'Meiko' and the aesthetic appeal of the kanji, I went the non-traditional reading route. ICly, I'm sort of hand-waving it as having an aunt named 'Mei' (For the phonetic component) and an uncle named 'Akihiko' (For the kanji component) that she was named after. Edit! Forgot to mention Meiko's 'alias' amongst those in the Rogues' Guild and mostly the Lominsan underground. She's known by the moniker 'Lightfoot' amongst those circles, because - surprise - she's so skilled as creeping about.

[ OOC: I'll take a pass for the evening and let Inessa have at it! Meiko wouldn't have done anything related after her conversation with Seth, and then would've just retired for the evening. ]

So, I've found my new favorite passtime in-game when I'm not IC. Mooglebombing. Khivva is also my favorite victim because it creeps her out so damn much, bahahaha. Xheja Rajhera, Meiko Amano, N'hadiya Khei
chaoticsleepy replied to chaoticsleepy's topic in Player Directory
Finally, finally updated this! That said, a few (very long overdue) character updates! Xheja: Currently still my main Balmung character, but I'm suffering some muse and inspiration problems with her, as well as some general frustration and disappointment. Still having trouble really finding her niche and getting her firmly wedged into it, due to her personality and motivations. Mostly using her to mess with PVE while I try to figure out what to do with her. N'hadiya Khei: She's since been remade, but I've also suffered the same sort of problem with her as Xheja. Difficult muse and the like, hard to find her niche. Currently back-burnered. Naoh'to Mujuuk: No longer going to play this character. As fun as the concept was, I ended up just assimilating traits of him into Xheja's last major rework. His character was name-changed and fantasia'd into.. Meiko Amano: Newest alt, and currently my main RP character. Meiko is super fun, I'm super inspired with her, and she's actually managed to find her niche and snuggle herself into it quite quickly. -

I've never seen this seeds website before, but now that I have, I feel like I'm going to be slipping through these images all the time. @_@ That said, after a quick browsing, I think I found two that fit Meiko. http://design-seeds.com/palettes/12/CreatureHues.png[/img] http://design-seeds.com/palettes/12/ColorEscape.png[/img] The first one? Meiko really favors a lot of subtle, darker earth tones like these. They don't really attract attention, and well.. Greens and such are the de facto Rogues' Guild colors. They're comfortable to her. (And match her eyes!) As for the second, she loves the beach and the ocean. Loves. It's easily her favorite place to be, and she would never leave if it were up to her. So these kind of colors are really attractive to her. One day I'll come back and do N'hadiya and Xheja. One day.

Awesome! I'll hit you up as soon as I pop over to Meiko. Currently helping out with some PVE real quick on Xheja, but should be switching over shortly after! c: Thanks!

I wouldn't mind snagging a linkpearl on Meiko Amano as well! She's not technically "Doman", as she was Eorzean born and raised. But she's ethnically half-Doman, raised exclusively by her mother who taught her the language and culture, and is rather curious about her lineage. o:

Meiko nodded silently to the other before turning, making for the door. "Have a pleasant evening, Detective Hara." She slipped past the door and started off towards a seedy little tavern across the city, in the opposite direction of the Goblet, where a few information brokers she had ties to tended to ply their trade. Hopefully she could track one of them down and ask some questions, and draw eyes her way at the same time.
