1. Sadly didn't have a chance to stop by and spectate tonight. ;; But! Gonna go ahead and tentatively throw in N'hadiya Khei for the next!
2. Well, I've not actually got anything needing dyed right this moment. Was just hoping if my retainer was going to bring me dyes, it'd be those two so I could keep 'em on hand, haha. Thanks for offering, though!
3. Forgive the pun I have a problem I'm so sorry... So, I've been getting tons of special dyes from my retainers recently.. Just about all of them ones that I'll never use. But I'm saving up for a house when more wards come out, and so I want to try and unload these to someone who does want them for a little bit of gil. I've got: - Pastel Pink x2 - Pastel Green x4 - Pastel Blue x2 - Pastel Purple x2 - Metallic Gold x6 I think (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't look at PF often) that people usually sell these for around 20-25kish? But for y'all, I'd part with them for 10k. Edit: Prices have tanked to about 10k in PF, so I'm selling these for 5k each now. So post, PM, or /tell me in-game if you're interested. c:
4. Just wanted to pop in to give kudos to everyone for a fun time! It was the first time I've ever participated, and Caex'ra and Raik were both especially helpful and patient while I figured out Rolz. c: You'll be seeing more of grumpykins Meiko.
5. Two million gil. Ever since the run in with Seth the previous night, Meiko's mind hadn't been able to wander far from the bounty and the healthy bit of skepticism she had attached to it. That much money, for a simple thief? Monetarist victim or not, it had beggared belief. Yet now, with one of the fliers in her hands, she had no choice but to believe it. "The Flea.." She murmured under her breath, shaking her head softly. "Ridiculous name. Even more foolish to leave clues. Hard to tell if this 'Flea' is overly cocky or simply daft." In the end, it didn't matter. Turning the paper over in her hands, the half-Doman woman folded it along neat lines and stashed it in a pocket. Seth had said to seek him out if she was interested, and she could scarce afford not to be. So back to her quiet vigil at the Quicksand it was, to sit and wait for him to show himself.
6. It's pretty common that we get older donors who call and want to share their life story with you, problems with their kids, relatives, locals, whatever. Then, every time they call back (either to donate or for whatever), they tell you the same exact things, just with different wording. I think for most of them they just don't really have people irl to talk to. They don't use the internet, they really just don't have an outlet. Same thing for spousal issues -- sometimes you don't want to talk to people you know about it, because you don't want anything to get out (you tell your friend, your friend tells his/her SO, the SO tells someone else . . .and it gets back to the person you weren't ready to talk to yet, oops). So while you have that stranger captive on the line, it just comes pouring out. People sometimes are very easily disarmed by niceness. Sometimes I'll get someone who sounds perfectly fine calling to have their dead relative taken off the mailing list -- soon as I say that I'm very sorry about their loss, you can hear them start to lose it. I never intend to make someone cry, but sometimes all it takes is that little bit of sympathy to break down all the barriers. Very true. I suppose I should clarify my frustration. I never mind the calls I get where someone sincerely just wants to talk or vent. I actually sat on the phone with one little old lady for the better part of an hour one day, just keeping her company, and enjoyed every second of it. I just get annoyed when we get the "Jerry Springer" calls where someone calls, gets angry at me because they're actually angry at their significant other, and wants to yell angrily on the phone for thirty minutes when I have other customers to help. There's a difference between lending an ear to someone who genuinely needs it, and someone who just wants to rant and rave for the sake of hearing their own voice, IMHO.
7. The majority of my job is vehicle registration and titling. But today, I feel more like a telephone-based relationship counselor. Love awkward 30 minute calls where someone bitches about their husband without end. Like in what weird reality is this acceptable c'mon people.
8. Xheja? Charming manipulator. (Read: "Short skirts.") Meiko? For family. (Read: "Sneaky & Stabby.") N'hadiya? Perpetually drunk. (Nothing more to say here.)
9. Ohi. o/ I always love creeping on reading your RPs when I see you around. Makes me laugh every time. Even if Flynt did call Xheja old and she grumped about it for days.
10. I really just flippin' hate being sick. In the past few years, I've never really gotten anything major during cold / flu / bad juju seasons. But I swear, in this one alone, I've gotten sick more often than in the last five combined. I just want to be able to breathe and sleep of a night and not have a throat that feels like someone took really rough sandpaper to it and oh god the migraines why. I'm sure my co-workers would really like to, you know.. actually see my face at work, too. Without the fear of 'Oh god what horrific death bug is she bringing in to the office now?' If anyone needs me, I'll be in the corner. Waving my white flag of surrender. But if you bring any more germs over here, I swear I'll knife you. ;A;
11. I love this idea! Gotta throw my two cents in. c: Xheja Rajhera If you prefer the intelligent strategist type over the sword-swinging brutes in your choice of Path Companion, look no further than Xheja. Yet would-be companions must needs beware: It takes strong willpower and resolution to keep the reins firmly in hand with this one. Otherwise, by the time the charming, silver-tongued Keeper of the Moon is finished speaking, it's like to be questionable as to just who is leading who in this companionship. N'hadiya Khei There's a lot that N'hadiya brings to the Path Companion table - when she's not busy trying to drink someone under it, of course. Stealth, spying, living off the land, and being possessed of a liver of steel are but a few of her redeeming qualities. If your cause is good, this Seeker-with-baggage would be more than happy to lend you her bow. But.. you are footing the bar tab at the end of night, right..?
12. You just had to get that off your chest. -nodnod- We've seriously got to nip this attempt at humor in the bud... Keep me abreast of your attempts. These kinds of puns really lift my spirits and separate me from my sorrows. Back on topic, Xheja's style is "If it seems interested in me and it has something I want, flirt with it whichever way it best responds until I get what I want." That said, she doesn't especially care to sound like a sleaze, so her flirtations tend towards the subtle, vague, and insinuated. N'hadi, on the other hand, doesn't have a flirting style. She just has a "Wait what do you-- Oh. Oh god. Someone's flirting with me panic mode engage stahp it GO AWAY" mode. Silly N'hadi.
13. Oho. Did somebody say 'evil'..? I'm always, always, always up for more evil / villainy minded RP with Xheja. To give a really short summary, she's a Void-corrupted. While she's still not the "Muahaha, I'm gonna destroy the world! -twirls pencil mustache-" kind of evil, she's definitely lacking in any normal sense of morality, and is primarily driven by hedonism and her own sense of what she finds "entertaining". It's just happens that the corruption makes what she finds entertaining boil down to things that tend to hurt other people, and in particular, she's fond of wrapping others around her fingers and pulling strings without them even noticing or caring. That said, she fits into a couple of the things you said you're particularly interested in! Illegal Alchemists: This pretty much sums up Xheja's more illicit business ventures. She's an alchemist by trade and while normally she puts that to "good" use with her public business, she is also a black market poison-maker that meets with clients in disguise - so as to keep her public appearance "clean" of suspicion - to make customer orders of whatever nasty little brews they need or to get their hands on something specific with a high degree of (usually costly) discretion. Black Mage: Before her corruption really solidified, Xheja was primarily a thaumaturge and aetheric researcher, dabbling in black magic for scholarly purposes. But with the corruption has, obviously, come a greater knowledge and understanding of black magic. While it's no longer something she uses very often (seeing as she already has too much fun playing around with her business), she is rather knowledgeable and capable when it comes to black magic, especially where it deals with the Void. Businesswoman: Xheja's public is that of the owner and operator of a more-or-less legitimate (at least by Ul'dahn standards) high-end cosmetics business called Rajhera's Radiants. Not particularly exciting in and of itself, but it does make a great cover and alibi at times, and it's convenient for making the connections she needs for her other business and laundering money. That said, if any of these sound appealing to you, let me know! Or if you want / need more into about Xheja, let me know. Her wiki is a WIP at the moment as I transfer it over to a new format and update it. I'd love to get my mustache-twirling evil RP on! c:
14. N'hadiya is a patchwork collection of horrific scars from her time as a captive to a particularly cruel Garlean centurion of her backstory. They literally cover her from head to toe and blend into one another, as do her blurred recollections of their origins. There's a few in particular of note, though. - Her left eye is blind from when she was initially captured and interrogated. The threat of the same happening to her right eye and the results of several days of.. persuasion finally caused her to crack. - She also has the words Subeo ad Imperio (a likely incorrect translation of 'Submit to the Empire', I don't know Latin wompwomp) carved across her shoulder blades. While she isn't overly shy of people seeing the less significant scars, she goes to great pains to keep that one covered. Her scars are a huge source of shame and anxiety for her. She doesn't really explain them if she can get away with it, and outright fabricates stories or just ups and walks away when pressed. They're something she would only share with someone extremely close to her. So they're an extremely important part of her, not simply just 'there' for edgy aesthetic +1.
15. I would say I hate the Christmas music, but I don't. I'm emotionally dead inside towards Christmas music. Since it's been playing in our office every day since the first or second week of October. Kill me now. My most hated part of Christmas? This question: "What do you want for Christmas?" I hate being asked. Because I'm the kind of person that will gladly and without hesitation drop an unholy amount of cash on making someone else happy, but having to look at things that I want and have to ask another person to buy for me? So uncomfortable. And "Nothing" is never an acceptable answer. It's practically an anxiety trigger to me, weighing all the factors of "I don't want the person to spend TOO much on me, but I don't want them to spend so little that THEY feel guilty when they get my gift. Is this going to be something convenient for them to get? Will they have to jump through hoops to get to to me? What's shipping going to be like for them if they have to mail it? Do they think I'm stupid for even wanting this to begin with? AHHHH."
16. Oh god, this has N'hadiya written all over it. Well. If she could write. Count her in when the time comes!
17. Hey there! Figured I'd throw my two cents in, being an Excalibur ex-pat myself! As far as Excal's RP scene, it's practically non-existent. Sure, there are likely some small scale RP linkshells / FCs somewhere, but they're not openly advertised and probably very closed off / hard to find and join. RP is just not something you'll see a lot of on that server, especially not open world RP. In fact, while I was there, I even avoided telling people about my RP hobby because the attitude towards it from a lot of the players was mocking, and sometimes antagonistic. ("Ohhhh, you roleplay? So you just want to ERP, then." kind of stuff. All the time. Even from my FC mates / friends who only did PVE.) What I'd suggest is doing exactly what you said: make an alt character on Balmung or Gilgamesh, try out RP for a while, and move over your main later if you decide you like it here. That's exactly what I did, and I don't regret it a bit! c:
18. Quoted for truth. Really, though, I just love both lore for Sunseeker and Moonkeeper miqo'te the most out of all the other races/clans and was inspired by them. N'hadiya especially so. I love Sunseeker tribal culture, so I wanted to do a Sunseeker who has deep tribal influences and ties. Xheja being a moonqo'te was admittedly more aesthetic than simply lore inspired. Because I always end up playing boring white bread humans in MMOs and I needed a change. But in the future, I really want to branch out to other races. I love them all. ; ;
19. This is how I choose to play off Seeker tribes, too. It just makes sense to me, personally, from a logical standpoint. After all, in a real life setting, think of all the diasporas of different ethnic groups where one group has split off from the "main" group due to things like differences in ideals, certain circumstances, etc. It makes sense to me that Sunseekers might be much the same way when there are differences in opinions between a large enough portion of the members to warrant an actual split, rather than the case where a Tia leaves to form his own tribe, entirely. From a strictly RP standpoint, I think it also makes it easier that way to interact with others. Seeing as there's only one Seeker tribe overwhelmingly represented in the game, it's unreasonable to think that all players playing non-U Sunseekers are going to somehow interpret their characters' origins the same way. So it's easier for, say, two N tribe members from different backgrounds to come to the conclusion "Oh, I'm from a different branch of the Aldgoat tribe" instead of simply "Oh, we've got different interpretations, so for the sake of my personal character development, I can't interact with you." All that to say, I would recommend making your own Antelope tribe if you cannot find another that you prefer. Depending on how intricately it's entwined with your character's background, it can be as simple as saying "Oh, they're from the Shroud" to as detailed and intricate as you like, such as what some players have done for tribes like the Coeurls. (Whose lore I love reading through. *-*) Will you maybe have to adjust things one day, due to lore updates? Maybe. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
20. I like to think that I fall pretty firmly into the middle on this one. While I don't begrudge either camp - save, of course, the obviously antagonistic jerks that belong to all sides of the lore argument - I think (in my opinion) that being to the far end of the spectrum either way tends to limit the breadth and diversity of your potential RP experiences. On one hand, I think being too strict on lore and putting your blinders on towards everything that isn't directly mentioned or represented within the game in some form cuts you off from a lot of people or experiences that may be perfectly reasonable to presume possible, yet don't fall neatly within one of the pre-determined "boxes" of provided lore. And as mentioned by a lot of people already, while this game does have a ton of lore, there are equally as many holes and/or grey areas left to interpretation. That leaves a lot of unknowns to work around. While it's certainly "safer" that way, considering how unlikely it is for established lore to be changed around in future updates, I also personally find it more limiting and frustrating in not only the types of characters and situations that you can interact with, but also the types of characters and situations you can create. Likewise, almost completely disregarding lore seems to me to have similarly alienating effects. By more or less establishing and roleplaying out your own head-cannon, you're disregarding certain rules that a majority of players in the community choose to play by to some extent. If you're doing this in a closed group setting where all members are in agreement on that set of rules and expectations, then that's perfectly fine and you're unlikely to run into major problems. But take that character to the public and it can be uncomfortable for people outside of said groups interacting with those types. Essentially, you're forcing them to either choose to abandon their rules and conform to your own (which can often have awkward implications for that person's character) or avoid an encounter altogether. And many people choose the second because it's 100% simpler to avoid an incongruence than to jam a square lore peg into a round lore hole, so to speak. Of course, these are just my personal opinions on the matter. I can totally understand arguments from both sides of the spectrum and I've always been an advocate of everyone playing and enjoying the game the way they want to. I just choose not to play that way. I prefer to characterize my views on lore as being lore-friendly, but willing to find creative (yet logical) ways to fill the gaps. I'm also willing to do a little gentle bending from time to time in the spirit of artistic license. Xheja's a good example of this. There isn't a ton of highly detailed Void-related lore, especially when it comes to things like what the Void is like, summoning Voidsent, their motives, etc etc. So I creatively filled some gaps and took some liberties, trying to stick to the established lore as much as possible. I know that not everyone in the "strict" camp would be willing to accept this kind of lore-bending and improvisation, and I respect that. But at the same time, if I didn't, I wouldn't have been able to create the kind of character that I envisioned and wished to play. Just the same, there are characters that I don't feel comfortable roleplaying with because of incompatibilities in lore interpretation. But I'm never going to send someone a /tell in-game and talk down to them for a half hour relentlessly because they don't fit neatly into my perfect little RP world (because that totally happened to me on n'hadiya rather recently and I really just wanted to kick the guy in the shin, not cool). tl;dr xheja's philosophy is errbuddy just do you, and don't be a jerk to to errbuddy doin' them.
21. Finally found someone whose voice comes pretty close to matching what N'hadiya sounds like in my head. Rose Leslie as Ygritte in Game of Thrones. She's got the crass, unrefined accent and the same sort of vocabulary. Not to mention the huskiness, but also the femininity in her voice: 3-x4DK-Qg5o ..yes all my characters sound like game of thrones characters in my head i have a serious problem..
22. Xheja, growing up in a isolated Keeper tribal environment, was brought up believing in the Twelve, but worshipping Menphina specifically. Given that she was (at one point) being groomed to become her tribe's next Matriarch, she was a very vocal worshipper and knowledgeable. However, after Carteneau and her subsequent move to Ul'dah, her faith in Menphina wavered and she began to worship Nald'thal - albeit much less fervently. Now, given the most recent events in her life, Xheja regards all of the Twelve with equal levels of apathy and, occasionally, outright scorn. But she still occasionally goes through the motions, such as mention of Menphina with other Keepers and making offerings to Nald'thal.
23. Go through severe RP withdrawals. Sounds like it's League of Legends time with the boyfriend tonight.
24. I didn't really design Xheja with any anime characters in mind. But now that I think about it, she really gives me a Lust vibe from FMA / FMA:B. Personality-wise, they're both highly intelligent and manipulative. More concretely, they're not exactly 'human' and hard as hell to really kill.
