1. I've actually been interested in Lalafel lore too, and awesome post Sounsyy! But alas I've got to head off to work tooo~ :chocobo:
2. Aw, I'd want to make an Imperial guy... but I think I need to research them a bit more lest I step on any toes... :geek:
3. Aha~ But are not the characters we create written specifically according to their emotional journey? Sure it's a little different since the other characters we see are each controlled by a different person, but each could be as well defined by dark pasts and the like. Characters we create have just as much right to be as broody as he is, and we have to act as a certain flower girl did and approach them~!
4. Caen's so happy and wild all the time... that there's really only a few songs out there for his theme~:moogle: But here's what I think suits him! PhPoGqC_LPo
5. First off... I love your characters. I think Kym'a sounds like all kinds of adorable!:moogle: Also you brought up some great ideas to bring people into rp. By creating a custom emote to show you are idle not only gives the tiniest intro on what your character is like, but also invites others to see that you do, in fact, rp. Thus people are more likely to wander over. It's also good to have an emote admiring/studying another character's armor, as almost a subtle invitation to invite them over. If anything, it makes the world more alive. That being said, new players should know that the range of things in /say is rather small, and I think the /emote ... might be smaller still (Or vice versa). From the railings of the Quicksand, for example, I can't hear the /say or /emote from characters sitting in chairs at the other end of the room. Keep that in mind if you get the feeling you're being ignored... they might just not be close enough to see your text!
6. To be perfectly honest, I find trying to RP anything like the "Chosen One" of sorts exhausting. I have met one person who roleplayed a character who has done everything and anything, including having a personal vendetta against Gaius himself. While, I admit... it did get quite annoying after he's describing being able to do everything, it fueled my roleplaying rather well. Albeit I'm playing a curious non-adventurer myself. I see no issue with saying you helped out with the big scene in ARR... but definately don't say you were the big chosen one yourself (if it can be said there was only one). It's tough to play Atlas, but anyone could weave a story about helping him carry the burdens of the world... er- if that isn't too obscure of an analogy. :moogle:
7. Hi guys! I'm new to the site and FFXIV, but I'm a big fan of the series and I've been RPing for a few moons, and lemme tell ya, I'm not getting sick of it anytime soon. One thing I've noticed, as I'm sure you all have... is there is ALOT of characters that are written and played to be all dark and anti-social. But of course that's no bad thing! Characters usually turn out this way due to traumatic events in their past, and are now haunted by it. One recalls Lightning, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonheart, Cecil Harvey, and Terra Branford... to name a just few! All great characters... but If Rinoa hadn't pulled Squall into dancing with her... he would've sat near the edge of the dance room, brooding to himself... just an example... if you get the reference ! I'd like to urge rp'ers to not be so discouraged while rping such characters! But it does take a bit of a nudge sometimes. It's okay to be a bit creative to jump in when you see a lonely person sitting in taverns. Like for instance, your character could simply be so tired that he or she grabs the nearest seat by a person sitting alone, and then see if theres a spark of rp there! I direct this doubly so for our out-going characters out there! Pull that brooding elezen into conversation... just to see why he's got that sour look on his face! I personally wrote my first character to be out-going, caring rather little for pleasantries and leaving strangers alone. He's always bugging adventurers he sees about the wonders he's never seen, having never left Thanalan all his life. In this way... I almost force the rp out of those lonely adventurers! That being said, there is a big difference with being cute and nosey and talkative... and bugging the crap out of a character. You can't expect people to just go along with your prodding if their character is firmly against it, of course.. and the same applies mostly to real life. And this goes without saying, but if you'd want to pull one into rp in a dramatic fashion, it never hurts to send them a tell, asking if it okay. I once had a character who tried to cleanse me of poison... by slitting his own arm and dripping his blood into my wound. Not something I'll condone, eh? I hope you guys find more rp out there... I've seen a few threads on here with lonely people seeking more connections and friends. And I hope I don't come across too presumptuous. Although I'd be lying if I didn't think myself kind of a genius~:moogle: But feel free to add your thoughts on how to rp with those big brooding types here too! Considering I posted this right ~See you in-game!
8. After reading everything, I have to say Mr. Sparks sounds quite fascinating! Although beign as new as I am to the game, I haven't met many who would rp Garlean characters. Still its a great-sounding concept... and I'm itching to run into you in-game so I can experience your character's story first-hand. I'd imagine anti-social characters and those with a "superiority complex" can be a bit harder to find rp, yet I always find their "dark pasts", if you will, well written and just as fascinating. However, some characters you may run across are written to find that sort of thing demeaning and rude.... ICly, of course. Don't let that be too discouraging if it happens. All in all your character sounds better than any Squeenix has put out in a long time. But I'm sorry to hear about your other character. These souls we create are parts of ourselves and it's always hard to say goodbye, for me at least. :moogle: I do hope to see you in-game! If you see me around, don't hesitate to chat me up!
9. It certainly sounds like the road paved to supreme fantasy begins here. I would like to join, if you'll have me! :moogle:
10. I agree with this. I often liked making an evil character on mmos... but I never get any action because everyones nice. I need a league of doom... y'know? But if anyone wanted to form a group of big baddies, I'm totally down for that!
11. I love long lasting connections in games. But I admit it -is- hard to find. If I meet you in game, my character will never forget you, and you can include me in your "plot" or toy around with my own if you want. Just don't do what one guy tried to do and drip your blood into me. That's nuts :moogle: If ya see me, chat me up
12. Forget the guards. I'm calling the TONBERRIES ON YOU.:tonberry: Gods... noooo!!! Where's a bird when you need one!!?:chocobo:
13. I was thinking of all the ways to reply when I saw what Naunet wrote. I dunno if I can respond in a grander way then that... BUT I AM EQUALLY AS PLOT HUNGRY!!! (And I'll be honest, if I hadn't previewed before I sent this, it would've said "Pot Hungry"))
14. I joined FFXIV about a day ago ((I was in the beta and then my comp died ;_; )) and I ran around looking for rp after I hit level 15 or so... when I couldn't find it, I just made my character out-going and just sat down with stand-offish people in the Quicksand or something. I've never "just gone with it" in any mmo before... BUT IT WORKS>>> HOLY HELL. And since I've have insane rp encounters. Maybe you gotta try just a bit harder, if you're waiting for an invitation. But if you still want rp, I'll just be sitting in the Quicksand bugging people I hope they don't call the guards on me. :tonberry:
