  1. Well, this should be the coup de grâce. I'm done here. Here's your proof.
  2. It's quite a convenient excuse "It's not finished yet." But let's take a look at other work in progresses the party has posted. How many of those have changed substantially from their WiP post, to their finished piece. The answer: not much at all. So it stands to reason that even though the piece in question was still "in progress" there is little to support the claim that it would change entirely from the whole character wardrobe or completely re-working the pose. I'm not a corrections officer, it isn't my job to provide "constructive insights". How many times do you see something wrong and simply don't just blow the whistle, but instead teach the person doing the wrong what they could do better in the future. Me doing so later was a generous extra on my part to try and provide a better understanding of what I was talking about. You're welcome to think that. The insulting assumption is duly noted.
  3. There's nothing to win. I've already provided the proof. There is no argument to be won or lost here. But go ahead, please. The more people who make me the bad guy, the more my signature becomes an accurate portrayal of this community.
  4. I used the "in-progress" piece as the example because it was the first I came upon the original source of the art. Given time, I'm sure I could track down all the other sources to other finished pieces, and then we'd see just how much has changed, but I doubt much would be different save for faces. Once again, people seem to not be able to separate the difference between referencing and copying.
  5. It's fine. I point out someone stealing and imitating someone else's artwork and that makes me the bad guy. That's fine, that's the kind of community this seems to be. It's good to know where this place stands on the issue. I'll just be sure not to bring any of my own artwork around these parts, lest it be stolen, modified, or imitated. And I feel my sig is quite justified, other people should be made aware of this forum's stance towards plagiarism.
  6. Except I've just proven that his art is copied from other people's work. But whatever. Go ahead and remove my posts then mods. Guess it was a mistake coming back here, didn't know this place was a sanctuary for plagiarism.
  7. Copying someone else's work does little to improve your own talent. Because you are working off of other's work, you aren't actually using your own creativity to bring about a new piece. Copy the pose, fine, but the entire outfit too? That's too far. It takes the littlest amount of effort to change the pose and make it your own. Simply drawing over someone else's stuff isn't the way to go. It takes all of two seconds to imagine a new position, even based off another one. Doing this actually challenges your artistic abilities, and makes you think more than copying ever would. Then you have to actually think "Well hmm, with his arm like this, how would that make the material fold differently?" etc. etc. All of you defending it aren't realizing that this isn't a matter of referencing. Referencing is something every artist does, looking at something and using it to better their own original piece. And you can say "Borrow" all you want, but there's a fine line between "borrowing" and "stealing". And to a lot of people, they are one in the same, especially when it comes to art.
  8. Except that's almost exactly what you're doing. It's one thing to reference a pose or expression. It's another to copy almost line for line another artist's piece. The outfit is the same almost to the letter, except of course to original picture is far more detailed and well done. This isn't a matter of me liking your art or not, because to be honest, it's not your art we're seeing. It's someone elses. If you want to become a better artist, this is not the way.
  9. Interesting project, I look forward to seeing it fully finished! Of course, it'd be exceptionally better if my own character were featured smack-dab in the middle of the circle sitting upon a golden jewel-encrusted throne. Word. :afro:
  10. Haha yeah, I'll admit I wasn't around too much once the game went out. Being a part of the testing since the first phase of alpha for FFXIV when it finally released the finished product was such a disappointment that I just couldn't bring myself to keep trudging along in it. Was also a bit burned out having already essentially played it for the majority of a year before it released so yeah.... I ended up bouncing back to it a bit though over the last year but couldn't get full well into it. So now with ARR I really get a second chance to get back into this great world.
  11. They are channeling Monster Hunter's Poogie Pig way too hard with that baby behemoth....
  12. Since I've just returned to the wonderful community here as my excitement for ARR builds thought I'd drop a new introduction. Some might remember from the initial release of FFXIV around these parts. Others might know me from some other FF communities, or at least my character haha. So yeah, just thought I'd drop a Hi! And that I'll be most likely joining everyone once ARR comes out for some more Hydaelyn shenanigans.
  13. Interesting topic, suppose I'll contribute for my ol' Lalafell. Instrumental - Lyrical - Suddenly, Muscial! - (Drinkin' and Dancin' in a lovely pub or tavern, with no care for the 'morrow.) Alt. Musical Piece - (Another prime pick, no context needed.) Animu Piece - Yep. That should do it I think.
  14. Heh, yeah. I recently got new work hours a couple weeks ago and it hasn't left me much time to draw. And so what little drawings I do here and there are few and far between. And not many of them are FFXIV related lol.
  15. Blegh. Sketch that I was never gonna finish. Removed to prevent art theft.
  16. Yes, it's unique to my character. I've been procrastinating finishing my RP profile for my character Shippuu. But yes, he'll have a self constructed prototype prosthetic arm that's powered by a small aetheryte shard.
  17. Hmmm hmmm hmmm.... Removed to prevent art theft.
  18. Wooh, lots of comments went by Anyways, I saw you didn't work with protools, I'd highly suggest giving it a shot. Most professionals choose to use it for a reason, it's damn good 8-) And I've posted my assortment of songs here before, the thread is over Here
  19. Not bad. As one musician to another, your quality could use some work. But that just comes with time and better equipment. Running a home studio can be a real pain to set up sometimes, but if done right it can be just as professional sounding as a full studio. Just keep at it, you'll only get better and better! What kind of Mic are you using for your vocals?
  20. I play FFXIV on a 55 inch TV <.< (horribly old blurry cell phone pics) My Desktop monitor Mah TV
  21. Haven't been drawin' much. But here's a little doodle I did. I've actually been working on a handful of songs. So between that, work, and FFXIV, haven't had a whole lot of time to draw xP.
  22. Doesn't seem to be so. FFXI didn't have the entirety of it's landmass available on release either. Neither did WoW.
  23. Out of curiosity, has anything been added to the game's character creation? Or is it just the same as it was in Open Beta? So far, the game is pretty much exactly what it was in Open Beta. No apparent new zones, no new options in character creation.
