Well, I never said "if you curse you're ignorant." As I said, among familiar company, I swear an absolute fuckton. (Ha.) But I'm also acutely aware of the "low-class crass" trope. More often than not, if every other word that comes out of a character's mouth is "fuck," they probably fit that description. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and I've found that it's usually the player's intention in the first place. I simply think that the game has given us a number of colorful alternatives as well as more general templates for everyday Eorzean speech, and I find it far more immersive to actually use those. Obviously, I don't go around telling people how to roleplay, or shun everyone who feels differently - ask Virella or Meyla, as I've RPed with them on several occasions, and they both have characters who use "fuck" as if they were in a Tarantino film. No worries, I didn't think it was a personal attack, it's just a weird thing to do by default to characters who curse, that's all. You gotta do you in the end. <3

Not sure how I feel about the idea that if you curse you're ignorant is, as it does come up in my roleplay often enough and my personal life, but moving on from that little bit... Linguistics are surprisingly interesting, especially in a world that has no defined history in that respect. There is no timeline really to base Eorzea on because it doesn't exist in reality, it's a creative world made up by the people who exist in it and it's framework which is created by people outside, who often don't think about the depth of roleplay that can happen. While it's fine to say you don't enjoy it in the RP you participate in, to say it doesn't belong is like telling someone that they're playing make-believe wrong. We define the nature of language in this world in whatever we see fits our RP, yeah? So it has a place if someone chooses it has a place, I suppose.

I kind of want to update some things based on design and add a few other relationships but at the same time I'm so lazy. The only upside is that I never include outright history written out and down like systematically so that's one less thing to worry about. :moogle:

Got involved today, actually, and had a lot of fun playing with Kale, Moengeim, and the other new member besides me. I managed to get punched, burn part of my shoes off with acid, damage my feet, and throat-choke a dude (among other less friendly things -- seriously, that was the friendliest things I did IC to other folk,) before all was said and done. It was really quite enjoyable. FY. GET THE FEVER... or something. I'm tired... just felt like basically 'repping' this by going "Yeah, they good." Your drawings are lovely and your colouring is really soft and I kind of like that a lot~ I don't have an artistic bone in my body so I just tend to throw money at people to draw for me, and you're one of the ones I would do such for. <3

Perhaps I should consider this. I've been searching for an RP group for Lyse in particular for a while, but I'm not sure what I'm doing with Elmina at current as far as affiliation goes - but given Lyse's... she might be a nice fit! We can interact and see what happens.

I spent all day working on tweaking the layout for one of these, and so they're kind of bare bones right now, but I have one for my two most prominent characters right now. Lyse Crofte Elmina Chere I'll probably make more as I develop character concepts, but these two are the most solid in my head - going through to add some more stuff now. They are likely to have NSFW portions, so only view at home just to be safe. ;p

I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of nice people and actually getting some RP under my belt - mostly it has just been me and one of my closest friends when he has the time, but unfortunately I don't think that's very fair to him to make him the only outlet for my RP endeavours. I'll take a look at the linkshells like you suggested and see what I can do. I'm really, really awkward around new people so I'll try my best to get over that as soon as possible.

I've been lurking for a bit, but my want for RP is drawing me out of the shadows and making me actually ignore my crippling social anxiety at making a first post and show myself to you guys. I haven't even hit max on anyone yet, but my main character is my highest and also the only one I've bothered thinking in depth about RP on.
