This is no longer correct in the retail version. Bric-a-brac only carries Thaumaturge and Lancer items now. The vendor that has the Conjurer item now is in the group of stalls East of the main gate where the botony, lumber, blacksmith, and armorsmith vendors are at. The NPC is named Johannes.

I looks like a diaper with a belt.

We need a list of shield vendors and if the shields are for war, magic or both...

(Sorry for the delay! I got busy.) "What an amazing trip that was! First the kidnapping, then the prisoner uprising, taking that huge stash of treasure, then losing it in that bizarre, swirling vortex that had nothing but otherworldly screams of terror from deep within! Wow, no one will ever believe any of it really hap...Hey! The boat's finally here." "Never been on a boat before. Well, nothing bigger than a small raft for crossing a river or something. This is kind of..." "Urgh...I don't feel so good..." "Just close my eyes till I feel better...that'll work, right?" "Sleep and ginger helped...also having nothing left in my stomach probably helped too. Oh! It's morning!" "Land! Finally! I hate boats. I hate the ocean. I hate sails. I hate galleys. I hate people called 'Cookie'. Just because you're on a boat is NO excuse to serve awful food. There's FISH EVERYWHERE! Use some of it in your food!" "Sea travel? You are now my greatest foe. This is a fight you shall not win..." -

I'm going to be away from my computer for a day or two (maybe three), but when I come back prepare for the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING journey to Limsa Laminsa! -
Kerrich of Thundersquall Thundersticks on the Upper Docks of Limsa Lominsa sells Pugulist, Lancer, Marauder, Gladiator and Archer starting weapons. Lefleda of the same place sells Conjurer and Thaumaturge starter weapons

And here I thought this whole thread was going to have nothing but "Zidane is a poopie head", considering what I've seen so far. Nice to finally see someone else who considers not only Tactics, but also IX, the better of the Playstation era games in the series. Not to mention, for all the crap that IX gets about Necron, several of the other FF games pulled the same "Bigger Bad Out Of Nowhere!" stuff. Hell, what about Chaos in the very first? Cloud of Darkness in III? Zeromous in IV? And even to a degree, Yu Yevon in X! A sudden appearance of an "lolSoRandom" isn't a new thing for the FF series. I love Tactics, I hate IX. Fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk. I didn't give a rats rotting tit about the setting. I cared about the characterization and plot. IX was horrifyingly bad in that regard. The plot seemed like it was thought up with for ages 6-12, not the audience that had been growing up with the series and had grown to expect something a little more geared toward their level. Tactics, shoddy translation aside, was great. A nice, layered plot with many important players throughout. Square has learned from their mistake of IX and have matured their storytelling slightly, but they still have huge issues with character development. Though if I want a game where a main character is not the same person by the end of the game as he or she was at the start, I'll go to the Tales series.

I would like some Celes please.

With both of yas. IX was what really stabbed the knife into the heart of the series for me. I was an unabashed Square fangirl up to that point and IX killed that. I grew more wary, I'd stop buying something just because they made it. I hated IX more than I had hated any game before because I had expected to like it. XII was also a massive disappointment because of Vaan and Penelo. People say they become less important as the game goes on...but it doesn't matter. I can't force myself to get that far. I hate Vaan far too much. Hell, playing as Recks would have been better. Have not even touched XIII. Never plan to. Like Tyriont, I enjoyed X-2 because I also did not go in expecting it to be serious.

"...wait a sec." "Sunset?! With all the stupid clouds and sand I completely lost track of time. I'm going to FREEZE." "Gee. Thanks, majestic and beautiful canyon, for blocking what little sun remains." "Is the city really that small...? Or did I grow? I remember this exact view and it seemed so much la...It is REALLY getting cold here." "Why did I leave my coat behiiiiiiiiiind?" "Ha! Made it! Guess there wasn't much risk of hypothermia, but...so cold!" "Now which way is that damn Aetheryte?" "Why didn't I do this before I left the first time? Urgh. Could have saved myself this whole trip. Never making that mistake again." "...Hrm...you know...I'm pretty close to the ferry to Limsa Laminsa..." TO BE CONTINUED...? Yeah, probably. -

"The rain's clearing up...the trees are thinning. Yes! Almost to the desert! I can dry off, bask in the sun! I can..." "...choke on the sand." "Welcome home, Farah..." "Is that a camp down there? Must be. You don't get mirages in sandstorms...right?" "Never thought I'd be so happy to see civilization. I can just wait out the storm here." "Things are finally improving...I had better be owed some good luck after all this." -

I actually thought it'd be great seeing the cave. I could have had Farah park in there till the rain died in-game and continue on, but..t'was not to be. -

"A cave! Yes. I can just hold out in here till it passes." "What. What is this shite? It's raining in the cave. What being beyond my understanding did I piss off? And how?!" "This is stupid. Everything is stupid. That cave? Stupid." "Huh. I should probably help, but my eyes are full of water and my hair is in my eyes. Eh. Looks like he can outrun it. He'll be fine. ...Hey! Another cave up there!" "...Screw this shite." -

"Ahhh. Such a gorgeous day, I won't be needing my coat. I'll rent out some storage for a few of my things and be back for them...eventually." "Should be a good workout. Haven't gone for a run like this since...Huh. It HAS been awhile since I left the forest." "..you knew this river was here, Farah. Why did you not pack appropriate footwear? These things soak up water like a sponge." "Lovely. These are going to take forever to dry. Going to listen to my feet make squishing noises for an hour at least. Well, it's not THAT bad I guess." "...I hate everything right now." -
Comments welcome and encouraged! Here, I will document Farah's journey from Gridania to Ul'Dah. I will post these in 5 or more images per post, give people some time to observe and comment, before moving onto the next bit. It's not meant to be a serious thing, but I felt this would soften the blow of my many many deaths surely to come. "What do you MEAN you aren't renting chocobos? What about that one right there? ...I don't care WHAT your relationship with the bird is. You're running a business here. I need a chocobo, I have money, and you have a chocobo that I need! Fine. Whatever. I'll walk." "Fat bastard probably never walked a day in his life...Chobobos since he could crawl. That's why he won't rent out his last one.." -------------------- And then the server went down...so...thus concludes part one! I guess. Bloody timing...

I get a bit of a Slayers vibe from the style, and that's never a bad thing.

If anyone is still switching things around "The Old Fashioned Way" by manually equipping weapons and stuff, here. For example...if you want to switch to archer. /equip main "Weathered Shortbow" /eaction 2 "Refill" /eaction 3 "Puncture" /eaction 4 "Raging Strike" That'll equip your bow and abilities. To switch to a carpenter... /equip main "Weathered Saw" /equip sub "Bronze Claw Hammer" That'll toss on your main and sub tools. Substitute weapons and abilities for your classes as needed, just make sure you equip the weapons before the abilities or you won't have the proficiency to equip.

I'm actually parked there right now, watching people go by. Well, if you head to the big U I can hang with you on Rev, but Farah's staying in the wonderful place of trees and happy and green stuff. -

Could designate that spot a mini RP meetup area, actually. It gets foot traffic, but if people are sitting around it, could indicate "Hey! RPers!" -

Lunaticked replied to Samriel's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I enjoy it. I love to walk around and take in the sights. My issues though.. I NEED RP. Need it. And one person trying the beta who was interested in RP'ing with me decided not to because there wasn't around room to type out anything meaningful. This character limit on what we can say in a single message is ridiculously small. There is no room to form a coherent thought, nevermind a small paragraph. Synthesis needs a tutorial. The entire UI really needs an overhaul and some degree of customization. I have no idea what monsters I can fight and which will do 2500 damage to me in a single shot if I so much as look at them wrong. -
Chat shortcuts? Do any exist? Tired of typing out things.
Lunaticked replied to Lunaticked's topic in FFXIV Discussion
You can blame us no good PS2/PS3'ers for that kekekeke That doesn't excuse them from making the PC version more intuitive. I love the combat gameplay, but when it comes to the UI functions other than that, it is ceaselessly frustrating that they can't do something the simplest of Korean grind MMOs have managed to accomplish. -

The fact that home does not bring me back to the start of my text is driving me up the damn wall. My brain CANNOT adapt to the fact that the home key does not do what it has done in every computer program in the history of the universe.
