  1. Elezen Name: Vaughn Antain Elezen clan: Technically Wildwood Gender: Male...seriously Timezone: EST Looking for?: RP, all the RP Does your character fit the 'common' lore of your elezen or are they singular? (Eg. Raised by hyur so does not understand X or Y = singular) Singular. Nothing crazy lore-breaking, but he's not your typical Wildwood with typical Wildwood thoughts. What are your Rp limits, if any? (Eg: no permadeath, no ERp etc) Vaughn is a happily taken man, so don't expect him to react positively to courtship (not that this has been an issue). However, there's not much he wouldn't respond to, so RP however you like with him. Just...no "my character does this to you and there's nothing you can do about it." Not only does it not give me the option to respond, but it's dickish behavior and will make me stop any RP with you.
  2. One last shot (even though I think this is outside the 30-day mark):
  3. I'll take the one on the left... I bet he tastes like dark chocolate
  4. So many hotties... Nope, gonna stick with Tiergan's lovely portrait as what I look like. *nods*
  5. Thaarus.... As fabulous as always, I see
  6. I understand this frame of mind. Personally, I always feel out of place no matter what I'm doing. That said, I try to keep myself open for random RP. There's nothing I'm involved in storyline-wise that can't use another pair of hands. At any time, too. We (the tiny group I RP with) just need to get to know you ICly. I hope this helps, and you can get back into things.
  7. Vaughn tilted his head. A noblewoman stripped of her will? It was difficult to comprehend. They had power, influence, gil. Everything that, to him, meant nobody could 'put them in their place'. He wanted to question, to learn more about this supposed loss of will, but decided against it. "Well, feel free to ask anything that comes to mind." He picked up the teapot. "Would you like more, Lady Faye, as Jaques gives you the tour?"
  8. Vaughn nodded with a smile, genuinely happy to see and hear Val talk plainly. Even with that small smile of the miqo'te's, it put Vaughn at ease to know that Val could smile. "Then she is very lucky to have you, Sir Val, just as you are lucky to have her. To find a place...a purpose, giving those a second chance to be loved and cared for... Ah, but there I go again." He blushed. "I'm sure the last thing you want to hear is my fantasies. You're here for a purpose, and..." He smiled as he sees Jaques reenter the common room with the water. "Ah! Wonderful. We can get started as soon as your thirst is quenched. It has been a dry day."
  9. Awh, cmon Vaughn. I'll post mine for you at some point this week. Help you build some bravery points. You show me yours and I'll show you mine ............ That was too far, wasn't it? *hides*
  10. Being the first of the month, I'd like to take this time to post some updates. First of all, I would like to thank those who have participated in RP with us and made the experience a wonderful one! Being a new Free Company takes a lot of work to get off the ground, and you guys have been the absolute best. It's good to know that we have been able to fill parts of others' backgrounds, and help them progress through their personal stories as well. Big hugs to you all! Second, we are recruiting! We are open to those who are running from slavers or wish to help those who are running from slavers. We are in the process of setting up dedicated storyline progression days and filling up our event calendar with activities for every day of the week. Yes, we are a heavy RP FC, but that doesn't mean we halt the progression for those who wish to level up, do Coil, treasure hunt, and the like. After all, some of those raids give us some fancy RP gear Finally, even if you're happy with your own FC, we still welcome you to RP with us. This is a community with lots of flavors and not every FC will fill every need. Same thing with our new members, feel free to explore the options other FCs provide. We love it that you choose to make a home with us, and will do our best to provide you with quality RP. For these two aspects, we have an IC linkshell to keep in touch for RP scenarios. Use it when you feel the itch to RP. It will be answered. For those of you we have RPed with, but have yet to receive a pearl in character, we're getting there and would love to have you! Again, thank you all for your continued support and we'll see you in game!
  11. A look of relief spread across Vaughn's face. It was true: not many understood what it was to be a freed slave. Somehow, this noble did, and it was all he could do not to give her the biggest hug. He knew it was a bad idea, with her in high society and her bodyguard... Well, it was nothing new for Vaughn to feel the mistrust that eminated from the man. "I am most relieved to hear you say that, my Lady. I'm hoping that gives us an advantage to help those who are having trouble adjusting. I myself... was bred into this House. Only really freed a cycle ago by that wonderful man," he motioned toward the kitchen where Jaques was getting the pitcher of water. He blushes in spite of himself. "I wouldn't know where I would be without him. For so long I've been owned, and he saved me from that life." He hesitated a moment before he just smiled. "Ah...but I'm sure you don't wish to hear those things. My apologies, Lady Faye and Sir Val."
  12. "Ate before I left an' all that. M'fine wi' just listenin' an' lettin' you lot talk about whatever it is y'wanted t'talk about." The way the miqo'te spoke made Vaughn have to listen carefully, lest he miss a meaning. Vaughn nodded to Val. "If you change your mind, Sir, please, don't hesitate to ask." Faye's light voice caught his attention, though her words were strange. "Mister Vaughn, if I might ask, about how large is your organization?" "Organization..." He tilted his head, though tried to make it look more like he was thinking rather than confused. "Ah...well, there are fifteen in lesson with Miss Chiane, the two who help Lily over there in the kitchen are apprenticing at the Quicksand I think... Feliara travels between here and Gridania practicing selling her talent with a sewing needle... Calisada has been very patient teaching the companions basic reading and writing, and Ojune has been taking them out to try and acclimate them to the city. I suppose that means twenty-four, including Jaques, Remy, and myself." He shifts slightly, starting to bite the inside of his cheek in nervousness while trying to maintain his smile.
  13. Vaughn smiles as he watches Jaques, but it wasn't until he was out of sight when he returned his attention to the pair. "After we show you around, I have prepared stuffed crab and rosemary aldgoat steak with butter and garlic mixed vegetables for lunch. It's the least we can do for you taking the time to visit us." He lifted his own teacup and took a gentle sip, trying not to fidget. He glances to Val with a light smile in an attempt to set the man more at ease. "We do have other things as well, if none of that is to your tastes. I would be more than happy to prepare what you wish as a thank you for your generosity."
  14. Vaughn smiles. "It would be most helpful." He hesitates as another thought occurs to him. "Ah...how much do your services run? We can at least feed you and give you a room while you're there, but I'm sure you have other clients." He glances to Jaques again before saying to Rahz, "And...perhaps...you could help us on a more personal level as well? A-after the others, of course."
  15. You are all brave, brave souls. *points to avatar* Just assume I am that. It's much nicer to look at.
  16. Vaughn saw the glimmer of the helpless look in Jaques eyes and he knew he messed up. It was just too easy to revert back to who he was, what he did, how he did things. They even had a chat about it earlier. He knew what Jaques's plan was to make things go smoother. They even went over it that morning. But he knew how to talk to nobles. With a small smile he looks to Faye and Val, pushing the first cup of tea toward the alabaster woman. "You traveled a long way to see us, and for that we are most appreciative. Please take a moment to rest before we begin. You must be thirsty." He pours a second cup, pushing it toward the guarded Val with a bow of his head. He sensed the mistrust. He knew that look all too well. "Unless...you would prefer something other than tea? We have...water."
  17. My first inclination would be Tall Tales, as we are RPers (I think that's the idea anyway). A second would be All Ears just because it's cute :moogle:
  18. Vaughn (for reasons I don't even understand) has become extremely religious the more I play him. He honors all the Twelve, but pays the most respect to Llymlaen. Perhaps this is due to his ten cycles at sea, being told he must pray to her or face divine punishment (a sick joke perpetrated by his Captain). I have no idea. It just happened. I can't explain why Vaughn does the things he does anymore. He's his own person now
  19. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't pick a fight or try to intimidate them." Remy smirked slightly at Jaques's request, giving a minute shrug before turning his attention to the ally. As the two approached, a vision in white and...A cat, he instinctively placed a hand on his sword. He didn't start to look offensive until Val's own posture changed. He glared at the miqo'te through narrowed eyes, trying to gauge him as a warrior. Still, he stepped aside as Jaques opened the door to the building, cautiously watching Val. The interior of the building looked nothing like the outside. While the outer stonework was sunbleached, inside was vibrant with color. Silk scarves of all colors hung in graceful drapings over the walls and across the ceiling. Though it lacked windows, it was very well lit with a myriad of candles, lanterns, and oil lamps. Incense burners were scattered about, lending scents of orchids, juniper, and sandalwood. The main entrance had a curved double staircase leading to a second and third floor. To the right, there was an open door to what looked like an office, with an ornate desk and chair visible, and a large bookcase behind. To the left of the stairway, a large open double door to the kitchen, where a petite red-headed hyur patiently waited for Vaughn to finish his project. The woman smiled and nodded politely to the newcomers. Further to the left was an open common room that had a fancy coffee table and two plush red velvet couches on either side of it, and an entrance to a dining room behind that. At the ornate dining table sat another Duskwight, a female, seeming to give lesson of basic mathematics to a group of fifteen men and women of all races. Some of the people seemed to be focused more on each other than whatever the Duskwight woman was saying, but snapped their attention back when they felt her authoritative gaze. After giving the pair time to get a quick look around, Vaughn emerged from the kitchen, holding a tray that had a large teapot and four teacups, and a bowl of fresh fruits. Grapes, blueberries, rolanberries, and peeled oranges. His waist-length blonde hair was tidied back loosely in a braid that draped over his shoulder. He wore a deep purple vest with gold trim over a vibrant white loose shirt that was clinched around the waist by a yellow-gold sash, form-fitting chestnut pants, and soft mahogany leather boots also trimmed with gold that rose half-way up his shins. He smiled with a bow, careful not to spill the tray. He had much practice with this. "Mis-- Ah...Lady Faye. Sir Val. A pleasure to see you. Please, sit." He moved toward the common room to set down the tray and start pouring cups of tea.
  20. Everything had to be perfect. There was no exception. As much as Jaques scoffed, or made his comments, or even tried to reassure him, Vaughn was hard-wired to accept nothing less than the absolute best for whoever walked through the doors of the Desert Rose. Er, Phoenix Rose. That will take some getting used to... The kitchen was in an organized mess, as Vaughn called it. Flour, eggs, vegetables... Whatever that blue stuff was. It was obvious he was cooking some sort of crab and aldgoat dish, but it looked like he couldn't decide whether it should be fried, sauteed, or baked. Everything was out and Vaughn flitted around like a squirrel with no attention span. As much as he hated being short with the Duskwight, Vaughn snapped at Jaques twice before Lily escorted him out of the kitchens. "You should know more than anyone, you can't talk to him when he's like this." She smiled kindly, sympathetically, as she also stayed out of the Wildwood's way. It was her kitchen most of the time, but now, it was Vaughn's, and the Twelve have mercy on those who interrupted his flow. As Jaques passed by the room where Chiane was holding her lessons, the 'security' of the Rose watched him from the entrance to the dining room. Another Duskwight, Remioux Beauvais, tall and wearing heavy, sculpted armor. He usually stayed around to 'protect the children' as he called it whenever he was at the Rose, but the companions knew it was for Chiane. Remy gave a slight smile and bow to Chiane before following Jaques outside, crossing his arms as well and stationing himself on the other side of the door. He looked to Jaques with a raised brow, questioning.
  21. I like Elezen Retreat, and I really like the imagery akin to the Roegadyn LS "Broken Chairs". Something fun and witty. There are a few things that come to mind: These suggestions may or may not be serious... Knife Ears Black and White Flowered Beds (har har) Tension Rising Aloof Bastards All that said, Elezen Retreat sounds fine
  22. And Vaughn is very bad at being a Wildwood. I wouldn't worry about it too much
