Perfect, that one works just fine! Bless you, Unnamed.

Hey there! This seemed like the best place to ask about this, but - I can't for the life of me find a functioning link for the Balmung Discord. They're all invalid invites, for whatever reason. Would anyone be able to direct me to one that works? I've just come back to play for the first time in quite a while, so having a community discord to get to know people on would be great!

Hello there! So I've just gotten to the stage where I've finished the MSQ and I'm comfortable enough that I can stay current with content that I can dive into RP all proper-like, feet first. That said, I've only got a tiny handful of people to roleplay with at the moment (but growing!), and I'd like to expand my social circles a bit! This is, hopefully, where you lovely folk come in. So I've only got the one active character at the moment, the stylish fellow you see up top there - Aramaeus Varens. He's a Highlander, third-born son of a lesser Ishgardian noble house of little influence that live in relative isolation waaay up in the mountains of Coerthas. They have their hands in a number of interests, but their main venture is the breeding of various types of griffin, for show, war, and so forth. There are seven children, four boys and three girls. Aramaeus himself has a very strong fixation on manners and proper conduct, to the extent that he's quite likely to apologise most sincerely for troubling a healer by arriving on their doorstep and bleeding on their porch, with an arrow lodged in his lung. He has an enormous desire for information of practically any variety- Magical, magitech, historical, personal tidbits that can be used as leverage, etc. He's got quite the web of informants and connections as it is, but he's looking to expand. As far as personality goes, he's very...Well, the best word is cold, really. He's generally very aloof and cool in his mannerisms, though always polite and courteous. He speaks to most people on equal terms unless they give him reason to look upon them with disdain, and he very much doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. Combat wise, he's..Competent. He can give a respectable showing, but by no means is he anything exceptional. He dabbles in both martial pursuits and magical, though he excels at neither. This is something he's very much aware of, so he tends to avoid physical conflict when possible, or have others do the stabbing for him. I'm looking for just about anything for him, really. Contacts, close confidantes, distant relatives, rivals, enemies, off-and-on bodyguard types, etc. I do have a particular desire for someone to play the strong right hand for Aramaeus, a sort of trusted person that he knows can get things done and acts as his mailed fist, bodyguard, and so on. Bonus points if it's a badass lady type, but I'm not fussed. Feel free to come chitchat with me if you have something in mind or would like to get to know Aramaeus! I can be reached here, on tumblr ( here ), on Discord directly via Amondrask#8476, or on the little Discord server I've set up to collect RP contacts in one place, here! Thank you for reading, and hoping to hear from you soon!

I've been bemoaning the lack of actual loyal Garleans for a while now. Seems like most of them are traitors, are forced into working for the Empire, or just don't care. My character, Suvaraih (goes by Raih), is staunchly loyal to what the Empire represents and believes in it wholeheartedly. He used to be pretty high up in the military until, through various shenanigans, has been sent to Eorzea in order to advance the Empire's agenda through whatever means he deems fit. I'd love to interact with some loyal Garleans!
-
Hey there! I actually became aware of this thread because people were asking if it was me, due to some similarities; We both came back recently to the game, and both have Garlean Centurions masquerading as something they're not, who still believe in the Empire. Eerie stuff, but I think with that much common ground we should definitely consider getting together and RPing, if you're up for it!

Hey there, folks! So, I've just come back to the game, and I'm looking for as many Rp contacts, friends and such as I can get my grubby little hands on. While I have alts, my main character is Raih, a charming, battle-loving mercenary! You can pick him out by his gleaming dark gold armour, probably. And he may or may not also secretly be Suvaraih quo Arcaelis, a Garlean Centurion that, through various plots, blackmail, and pulling of strings, has been sent to Eorzea to serve the Empire in whatever fashion he can. Basically, he's a pretty laid back guy, very quick to smile and can be pretty charming when he wants to be. He's a bit too fond of the whole battle and murder thing, and he's at his happiest when he's in the thick of melee, covered in blood. He does an enormous amount of mercenary work largely for this reason. He has a place in Limsa (no IG house yet, because I am poor), but he's rarely there and can instead be found in Limsa itself, or wandering around pretty much anywhere. He likes to raid Allagan ruins for tech, and he has quite the collection of magitech gear, and is quite adept at working with it himself. He has aspirations of forming a magtiech-focused private military company, full of loyal people that he can convert to working for the Empire, so if that interests you at all, let me know! You can get something of a glimpse into who he is and a bit of his past here. tl;dr Please Rp with my not-a-garlean-spy dork. Contact me IG with Suvaraih Arcaelis, Discord on Amondrask#8476, skype on imperiousreptilius or just PM me here!

It's for EU players on Balmung! Sorry about the confusion, I'll add that in the original post.
-
Thank you, Valence! A pity about the timing, but that can't be helped. As it is, I've had a handful of people express interest and am chatting with them when I get the chance, so there's some interest, happily!

Hello there! So, first thing's first, in case some of those acronyms didn't make a whole bunch of sense, I'm posting this to gauge potential interest in a magitek-centric Private Military Company Free Company, geared towards those of us who play mostly around European times, on the Balmung server. In essence, this is a company that has a militaristic bent, with ranks, a hierarchy of command and an emphasis on conducting themselves in a manner befitting a disciplined group of professional military personnel, backed with a healthy supply of magitek equipment. A PMC is essentially an army on a smaller scale, filled with professional soldiers and a host of other roles that are necessary for the smooth operation of such an enterprise. Think more of an actual military rather than a group of adventurers or your average mercenary band. Now, I'm aware there's a few FCs out there that touch upon one or more of these concepts, and some of them are fantastic, well-run and full of quality folk. But, the majority of them aren't EU-based, so it makes them less ideal for both myself and anyone else that plays mostly at EU peak times. So I've been mulling this over for a while, and thought it couldn't hurt to see if there's any interest in forming or joining such a FC. If so, fantastic! If not, well, that's life and I can move on to something else. Some of you may be wondering about the magitek-centric facet of the FC, and the explanation for why I included that is simple. I love magitek. It fascinates me, and I would adore getting the chance to play around with it more in an IC manner. The idea of a group of people that utilise it is immensely appealing to me, and I hope that even if this doesn't take off, that I'll at least get to meet some folk that share my interests. So yeah. I know this is vague, but I figured it'd be better to see if anyone was interested at all before I sink a lot of time into it, only for nothing to come of it. If you have even a passing interest in this, please contact me! I'm very open to discussing the idea, and if any of you would like to roleplay with me or talk to me in order to get a feel for such, go ahead! I'm open to acquiring new contacts and friends, as well, so don't be shy! Poke me in game at Suvaraih Arcaelis, PM me here, nab me on skype at ImperiousReptilius, or chat to me on tumblr at raih-the-sword-guy.

I'd like an invite as well, if possible! I've tried finding Odette online to ask in-game, but I am beginning to think that she is a myth created to taunt me. (Or, y'know. Some extreme timezone differences, whiever.) If you see Suvaraih Arcaelis floating around, that's me!

Seeking someone skilled with magitek!
Amondrask replied to Sylastair's topic in Chronicled Connections
My character, Suvaraih Arcaelis (Just Raih!) is adept with all manner of magitek, if you want to drop him a line, as well! -
Hello there, folks! So, I recently came back to FFXIV with a pal in tow, and I've been enjoying it more than I ever have previously. I've even had a few bouts of RP when I attended an event or three, which is stellar, but I find myself with a lack of contacts and regular roleplay partners. Succinctly put, I need more pals. And contacts. I'll give a brief breakdown of my character in a moment, but I'd like to outline what I'm hoping for first. Also, I'm in the GMT timezone, and while I tend to stay up late I'd rather not have to all the time. Essentially, I want regular roleplay and a community to feel a part of. While there's a lot of lovely people in the game, it can be pretty hard to get to play with them when you're not part of their group/FC/clique/whatever, and it's going to be slow going if I just RP at people at events. So I'm officially reaching out. I'd like pretty much everything for Raih. Friends, enemies, rivals, employers, fellow mercenaries he can work with, people that he could potentially recruit someday, people to train or train with, drinking buddies, you name it. I designed Raih in a way that he can interact with just about anyone in some fashion without it being a stretch, so if you ever want some roleplay, be it random, a short arcs, an epic tale, a one-shot appearance, or you want Raih to show up to serve some part in a story you have going on; Come talk to me. I am seriously open to working with any of you. I'm also looking to join an FC, but I'm not the type to just join on an impulse. I like to roleplay with folk over a period of time, get to know them and their characters, and join if I feel like it's worth the investment and commitment, because joining an FC is a big thing for me. I'm also looking to join linkshells, so hit me up with those if you like! My character, Raih, appears to be a particularly tall Midlander. He's not a terribly complicated young man. On the surface, he's a laid-back mercenary that's prone to irreverent grins and lounging about, when he's not fighting. Fighting it what Raih lives for, more so than most mercenaries. It's almost a religion for him, and he gets immense joy from wading into combat and really having at it. A real Blood Knight, if you know your tropes. (He's learning to channel this emotion to utilise Dark Knight style abilities, because I love that class, but wanted to see if I could pull off something a little different!) His morals are a little on the grey side, as he'll kill without much in the way of regret, so long as it's not going to land him in massive trouble, but he's very loyal to folk that he likes, and he's generally willing to help people out if he has nothing better to do. He's a very fun-loving character, he's sociable and can even be charming when he wants to. He's capable of roughing it with the less refined characters, and he's had experience rubbing elbows with nobles and the upper-crust of society. He also has a massive interest in Magitek, so if your character has something to do with that, bonus points! His actual name is Suvaraih Arcaelis, and, gasp, he has ties to Garlemald. Original, I know, but gosh darnit I love me some Garlemald. I won't divulge much here, but if that's of interest to you, PM me. So yeah! If you have questions, suggestions, ideas or want to potentially RP, contact me! You can find me in-game under Suvaraih Arcaelis, my tumblr is raih-the-sword-guy.tumblr.com, Skype is ImperiousReptilius, and if you want to contact me via other means, let me know! Looking forward to hearing from you all. If you want some idea of roleplay quality, there's a log here that I never cleaned up, and I have some assorted samples on google drive. Peruse at your leisure!

I'd like an invite as well! Suvaraih Arcaelis.

Amondrask and his companion are former Garlean (Not native, they're Au Ra) military personnel that, while once extremely loyal and fine examples of what a Garlean officer should be, have defected and since recently come to Eorzea, so if you'd like to chitchat about plots or the like, let me know!

I never said that it would be big, actually, or even powerful. I'm more than aware that pretending that the FC is large and formidable is folly. That isn't my intent, nor did I say it was. I merely desire a small to moderately sized military group that has Magitech in their possession, not some large force loaded to the gills with army destroying artifacts, or even any hostile intent. They would be no more a threat to the global power balance than any other FC. There are several FCs out there that would be comparable to or even surpass my hypothetical group in terms of both numbers and raw power, so I don't see an issue. The Red Wings sound like a group that would be interesting to interact with! Chris, what sort of things would you like to see in regards to a hi-tech military group that you may get involved with? The same to anyone else that's reading. I'm very open to suggestions and such!
-
Hmm, you make an very good point. I was considering having my Au Ra leaving at an early age in order to join the Empire- An innate attraction to their power and fascinaton with the magitech, and suchlike, causing them to leave of their own volition and join the ranks, drinking in as much of their culture as he possibly can, and then eventually moving to Eorzea, possibly with the invasion force and being left behind, or just recently in order to further his own designs of forming an organisation using what he's learned from Garlemald. It's difficult to try to work this sort of thing out without knowing more about the Au Ra, unfortunately. Heck, I'm not even sure where Doman is in relation to the Empire. Also that sounds really cool, Chris! Definitely going to stalk your RPC profile and see if we can't roleplay someday together!
-
Ah, I see! That does help matters rather immensely. Now I just need to decide on the particulars and get to hammering my ideas into an actual FC. And trying to find interested parties that I'm actually online at the same time with. Incidentally, what armour set could pass for powered armour? (Also your characters sound awesome)
-
Intriguing stuff, folks. Thank you every so much for your input so far, you're a very valuable resource! So glad I know about this place. So, would it be feasible to have a group that possesses magitech and the like, but isn't comprised of Garleans? While I do love the Garlean style and culture, roleplaying one seems like it would be somewhat less than ideal. Basically, can I jack their swagger without being an actual Garlean? How would most people even tell that a character was a Garlean, if they're not a native? Say someone that was from a village they conquered and then they were drafted into their military, then came over here, sorta dealio? Or would most people assume that anyone using magitech is a Garlean?
-
Fascinating! I didn't know about Regnum at all, but I will most certainly be checking it out tonight. How do you manage with interacting with the general player base? From what I've read most characters would have a kill on sight attitude with Garleans, and I imagine you wouldn't be able to just openly be a Garlean organisation, even if you have no ill intent towards the natives. Another query is whether or not a foreign race, in this instance, an Au Ra, would have been able to be a part of Garlean society, and if so, how? I know there are non pureblood in the Garlean forces, but I'm not sure how they're treated and suchlike. Super armour would be lovely. I just don't want to cause too many waves, you know? I know how touchy roleplayers can be with lore and such, hah. I should also ask about the feasibility of such a guild, but without them actually being Garlean. Would that be easier /upset less folk?
-
Hello there, fellow roleplayers! I've been mulling over a vague idea for a while now and I could use some input, if you would all be so kind as to oblige me. Essentially, I would like to form (eventually, I am in no rush) a Free Company that would be classed as a Heavy Military Roleplay FC. Now, that in and of itself isn't much of an issue, as I imagine there are some people out there that would be into such, judging from the number of them I've come across in the past on previous MMOs. The sticking point is the fact that it would be influenced by the Garlean Empire. What I mean by this is a focus on magitech and Allagan technology, and I would be drawing influence from what I've seen of their culture from the story. If given the choice, I would leap on the chance to just up and play a Garlean splinter faction, but I know that that would be essentially unplayable. So. Any ideas on how to make it work and be lore friendly? Any input, advice or anything at all, really, would be most welcome. Is a group that is focused on magitech plausible? Would they even have access to it? What level of magitechnology would be considered to be acceptable? Also curious, but is it established at all if the armour worn by the Garlean elite warriors powered armour, of sorts, or is it just fancy normal armour? I ask because in one of the scenes I could swear I hear some whirring noises when one of the top dogs moves his arm.
-
Hm, I see! Many thanks, first of all, to you fine folk for replying, and so speedily too! I had feared that the roleplay guilds were being largely insular and shut-in, as that makes it terribly difficult to find them and roleplay at them in the first place, but I suppose that's better than there being none at all. Regardin the Linkshell Hall, would you say that it's an accurate reflection of the level and number of active FCs? Or is it more of a case that the FC will post their bit and then just sort of...Leave it, and while they may appear to be dead due to the age of the post, they are very much alive and kicking in game? Also the Grindstone seems like it would be an interesting event to spectate at! I'll have to show up sometime to see what it's like.
