  1. Heyo and welcome! Here's hoping your story plays out and the character develops smoothly! Happy RP's!
  2. Welcome back to Balmung! I sincerely hope you enjoy your time here more this second go round!
  3. Talon was originally intended to be a DRK from the moment he was dreamt up in my head. And ironically his story evolved through rp to support this. As a dark knight, he draws his strength through his emotions not some inner demon or fae that's bound to him, but instead he pulls from a variety of things. His anger at being betrayed and cast aside, his hatred of corrupt politics and the abuse of power, and his fear of not being strong enough to protect those dear to him. I was amused to discover after reading a few of the first posts that the "Sith" mindset truly does apply here and with that came the realization that I'd taken on the mentality of my Sith Sorcerer ><. But hey if the shoe fits, strap that bad boy on and march eh? Still given Talon's past and the events that have surrounded him, I can happily state that I feel the "Fueled by Emotion" thing can work very well, and provides just as much fodder for rp as a DRK who's "Possessed by a Voidsent". And for those whom jump aboard the "I hate EMO DARK KNIGHTS" train all I can say is that I'd much rather be part of a story or rp where my character is painted by who he is and the choices he makes rather than falling back on the "A Voidsent made me do it." Perhaps it's just me, but I kinda like the idea of being in charge of myself and my char. And when Talon looses it.. it's because situations and events slipped past his ability to control them. And that opens a whole new world of rp opportunities!
  4. As a leader (former?) of a mercenary troupe that has faced making decisions that can (and sometimes has) gotten his people injured, Talon is often besieged by regret. The constant questions of "Should I have....?" and "What if...." that plague anyone in a leadership role are ever present on his mind. Regardless he has accepted that this is a burden that he must shoulder, and continues to take each step forward towards the goals he and his company have set. That doesn't mean his decisions don't haunt him, and many days he can be found sitting alone in the Sands sipping coffee from a mug and thinking over the choices he's made.
  5. Character Fear? Talon recently lost his new bride to assassins on the eve of their honeymoon, only to find that the group responsible for it had targeted members of his mercenary troupe. So his greatest fear would be the loss of others he cares for and feels responsible for looking after and leading. How do they cope? He copes by constantly trying to improve his current skills, and by learning new ones. He's a man who thrives and excels at martial combat, and thus if it's a new weapon or fighting style he has to try to learn it, to master it to the best of his ability. And while he's never going to be the best at everything, he's at least confident he'd know which end to point at the bad guys. Other than that, he's quickly learning to rely on others to help protect what he feels is most important to him. How do people respond to their fear? Most of those who figure out Talons fear are pretty understanding. Many of his company members have taken to thinking of him as the "Always too serious older brother". It's made for many an interesting moment at the Wanderer's Lantern of late. Do you think one day they could be cured of there fear? Doubtful as he will always strive to protect those he cares for and I honestly don't see why that would be something that needs "cured".
  6. A pet peeve of mine is when other rpers stand in judgement of someone's rp or rp style. I understand we all have opinions of what is or isn't kosher in rp.. and many of the things listed here are completely understandable reasons to be annoyed or avoid rp with another. However I simply believe it's wrong and biased when you put someone else's rp under the scope of what you find acceptable and pass judgement on them based on the standards you apply to your own rp. Some of us are new to it and haven't been "taught" the "rules". Many of us have learned how to rp by watching other rpers. So it is often a case of people mimicing something they've seen others do. Typically these people (myself included) would be happy to adjust things, or learn better or more acceptable ways of conducting our rp, but we never get the chance. Why? Because others are quick to pass judgement and then gossip about it. Too many new rpers are shunned because they don't hit the mark so many others set for them. So perhaps instead of avoiding said people, or isolating them, it would be more of a benefit to try to discuss things and help build them up so they can improve. Wouldn't this make the "Rp Community" a much better place than staying in our little circle of friends and whispering about how this one or that one sucks at rp? Granted there are always those that can't or won't take constructive criticism and immediately blow up about it. But there's just as many people out there who aren't good at offering it without coming off as insulting or condescending. Ah but I've ranted enough I suppose. Beyond the above, the only other thing I find truly upsets me is the tendency of others to take OOC into IC and then pile on "Friends" who wish to tug on the "White Knight" mantle. People fight.. argue. say things in the heat of the moment that they don't mean or wouldn't intend. It happens. But when someone takes that and runs with it playing the victim and draws others into the argument and things snowball into one giant mess. The end result is people going of on one another about things none of them have a clue about and a matter that could have just died if the original parties had just walked away from things gets carried on and on. It's stupid, childish, and plays out like a middle school drama. Best advice: If you weren't there and part of it, keep your nose out of it and let it end. So yeah.. my two cents for what they're worth. Best wishes to all in their rp.
  7. Pray that Jack stands beside you Nate... better yet, pray he carries you home. I'm in if nothing else but to keep Nathan honest. (Talon Morrigan)
  8. It was a blast, thank you for having me. Nate ya got me this time.. here's hoping I get another shot at you soon. Cheers t' the rest of you!
  9. All..the...damn..time. No seriously it happens, and why? Because like so many of you, I invest alot of time, thought, and effort into building the "bonds" my characters have... in developing their stories and evolving their characters. It's natural to assume at some point events will happen (conflict is the heartbeat of RP at times), and things will go abit too far. Feelings get hurt ICly and OOCly... because hey.. Text sucks at expressing emotion, and let's face it, some people can be very cruel because they can be it without any real repercussions IRL. At those moments it's important to really follow the advice so many have listed here... step back, catch yourself and remember.. You are not the character and you truly do have control of what you allow to happen both ICly and OOCly. Sometimes the simple act of reaching out, apologizing, or asking to discuss something that's happening ICly that's bothering you OOCly can clear up alot. Perhaps something was said or done with one intention, only to have a completely different outcome or reaction than someone expected? Maybe the why it got worded made sense to the sender, but came across completely wrong to other person? A problem can't be fixed until it's made known that there's a problem. That said, there are those that just don't care... for them we can thank Yoshi P and the devs for the almight "Blacklist"! So yeah.. mini-rant's over. Most things can be solved through communication and possibly taking a moment to cool off. For those that can't.. blocking works too! We all pay for our own subs, and have t'learn to play/rp responsibly... or at least make a damn good try at pretending we do!
  10. As one of the leaders of T3-RP I'd like to thank everyone that managed to come out and make our first attempt at this a success. We greatly enjoyed having most of you there, and very much would look forward to having many of you come back. As with all events of this type, there were a couple "trolls". Luckily they were easily ignored and the fun continued regardless. I'd also like to take a moment to thank all the members of T3 that were on hand tonight, I know we had a couple people down due to illness and family stuff. You ladies stepped up and made this happen. Without ya'll, we wouldn't be the company we are. So thanks again to : Ereshkigal Atropos Lilhi Nbolo Skyar Blake Adelicia Kohl Also a quick prayer for Zarana Bajihri, and Magma Dancer. Hope things improve for you both.
  11. I've been interested in seeing how Sano fares against Nathan.. perhaps if there are spots left open.
  12. From what I understand we all dislike Vance for separate reasons... Hate is such a strong word, and she's right it's more of an intense dislike for him. And of course Aaron wouldn't have an issue with him.. it wasn't Aaron's sister he tried to bed and then left holding a tab at a tavern. :tonberry: And it wasn't Aaron who was publicly disgraced for no reason! The offer of a drink and plotting conversation stands. As I've a reputation for violence (undeserved) feel free t'bring a friend or two or ten... your choice.

  14. Does this mean I get an honorary membership card in the "Vance Haters Club"? If so, then the drinks are on me!
  15. Sano has a habit/talent for pissing others off... toss it up to his prickly nature and lack of patience for BS. That or it just may be that the man has difficulty telling when he's being picked with and picked on... As it stands the list of people he truly dislikes is rather short. Vance Garen: Vance came across as a friendly if not bumbling sort to Sano. The two struck up a conversation and appeared to be on the road to being friends as he'd ended up picking with Vance over his pining for the "Most Beautiful Woman in all of Eorzea" that he couldn't remember the name of. Then Sano's sister Miria came along and Vance's eye was caught. Despite warnings and threats of violence, the man wooed and won over Miri... even after Sano spoke to her about rumors of Vance being a womanizer. It all played out as he'd feared when the man stood her up for the bill for dinner and two stolen bottles of wine in Limsa...and being a man of his word Sano saught Vance out to make good on his promise. To date he's limited it to loosening a few of Vance's teeth and attempting to castrate him with his boot. But who knows what may lay ahead as these two's paths cross.. Lottie Forsaidh: Initially Sano liked her well enough and accepted her as one of Nate's closest. However that moment quickly soured when she all but accused him of sleeping around on his then mate Zara. Her tendency to jump to conclusions without actually knowing the situation annoyed him... and her mouthing off didn't help . Mild annoyance has slid completely into loathing on sight. As Sano refuses to strike a woman unless his life is in mortal peril, he simply avoids her like the plague. Sadly that tends to mean he avoids Nate as well.. Honorable mentions: Coatleque Crofte: Sheez.. get arrested one time over a mistake and the woman takes an instant dislike to you. Honestly Sano has no issue with Crofte, he's just heard she hates him though nobody seems to tell him why exactly. So he simply avoids the woman and the rest of her Sworn .. L'vi Lyrre: Yet another who hates Sano without really having reason... *taps his chin* Well she may actually have a reason, but it's more due to a misinterpretation of events rather than him doing anything to her. Given what he knows of her and her "organization" ... he's less than impressed or inclined to clear things up.
