1. Ohai, preemptive welcome to the Server of Servers. Tell us about your character while we wait!
2. Oli!

Character Faces

Not my character, but.
3. I've always maintained that the idea of the One True Playerbase is a construct proposed to get people to design the game the way they want it to be designed. No group will like all of the same things, even among a group that still likes a common thing, such as a game.
4. First round of invites complete! If people from the other thread want invites, tell me!
5. I was told that this was because left their contracted VA studio for a new one in the UK or something, but I don't know for sure.
6. Let me know if you want an invite! I'll see if I can find you in-game. Also, we have a page now! You can post there for invites, and keep this for brainstorming in the meantime.
7. Those that are looking for invites are free to post below!
8. Years ago, Theodoric, the King of Ruin, scattered the mighty Fists of Rhalgr to the wind in a flurry of anger, fear, and spite. Shattered, yet not quelled, the Monkhood has lived on in the form of hiding practitioners, old tomes, and the mysterious sect of Shadow. In the light of a new era, new blood, both fresh and familiar, have turned to the way of Rhalgr for peace, and for power. With them comes new outlooks, new ways, found from days of wandering without a home, and from lives lived differently. In the hands of its new keepers, perhaps the old way will not merely survive, but evolve as well. The Rising Fists is an OOC / IC Linkshell created for the sake of networking Monks and fist-fighters, as well as those that have a relation, current or historical, with the Fists of Rhalgr. As of now, the Linkshell is rather young, but the hope for the future is that active storylines will start appearing for users to partake in if they wish. You might be interested in this Linkshell if you have a character that: -- Is a Monk, or follows a Monk-like way of life, -- Wants to learn more about Chakras, or fighting-styles -- Wants to hone their technique, or teach it to others -- Some reason you made up! Why not. The Linkshell is now IC! More details will be provided with an invite! Update: We now have a discord! Please do not abuse this link.
9. I'll be keeping an eye out for you people! Alternatively, if you see me first, poke me instead!
10. It's adorable and sounds like Wall-E. Where do I buy it.
11. It's nault possible. There's naulthing to stop.
12. Most tend to be a little naulty and simply repeat variations of Nault over and over, but I like to think that those here have a much more advanced collection of terminaulogy. Roleplayers in general tend to be more familiar with naulmenclature.
13. They are antagonists so it does make a lot of sense. However, 'what makes sense' can also be particularly vanilla. There's nothing wrong with vanilla if your aim is to not have a unique backstory. If that is your aim, then you should probably avoid/tone down the vanilla. Uniqueness comes in the way that you sell something, and the way that you add on more to it. The background is not the be-all and end-all. If I were to tell you that Superman and Dragon Ball Z are the same series and are therefore not unique, you'd look at me like I was crazy, and I'd say, "yeah, their main characters are both super powerful alien children that came to earth from blown-up planets in pods when they were little, get adopted by old people out in the middle of nowhere that teach them Earth Morals, and then go on to save the world over and over with their Good Punching Skills," and then you'd call me an idiot because they're not the same at all. That's because they diverged and went in different directions, and also sold their Same On Paper backstories differently.
14. Unless you're the Old Kung-Fu Master. Aether Builds Strong Bones or something.
15. I was actually hoping that varying styles would come up. Since the old order* is gone, people have probably been doing other things like finding new styles and new philosophies to fill the gap. It's entirely possible that we might end up collaborating to make something that doesn't resemble the Old Way at all, if that's the way that things go. Especially since at this point, we're probably bringing in a whole collection of new outlooks and cultures into the mix that wouldn't have had such a large presence back in Ala Mhigo.
16. Subjective. You can be infinitely skilled if you want. Most people won't like it though. Having more than one field of expertise is too skilled for some people. Not to mention that it's more than just "areas," if you're literally the Best Bard Ever, are you too skilled even if you trip and fumble and fall on your own sword in every other category ever? Depends on who you ask. There's also the concept of Skill vs. Age. Is it more plausible to be the Best Arcanist in the Whole Wide World at the ripe old age of 89, or the tiny babby age of 13? Who knows. You'll get plenty of varying opinions on all of this though. The can of worms has been OPENED.
17. I'm okay with Yes Garleans or No Garleans. They're Everywhere and Ruin Everything, so it's no big issue. If you do go with them, what I would want to know / suggest you would think about is how the passive elements of her spirituality would interact with the Garlean threat. Would she throw out all that her religion teaches about peace for the sake of Killing All Garleans, or would she still maintain the ability to see things from their side or empathize with their commonfolk and "just doin' my job" soliders, despite the fact that they turned her life on its head? Would she want to hate them on a personal level, but run into conflict when her stated beliefs don't endorse that level of hatred? Could be some depth there.
18. Even so, that's not quite what it would take to naulify their effects.
19. It's important to remember that not everyone wants it hard all the time. Some players are more laid-back, and might even have thought that the difficulty increase for HW's mobs was too much. It's important that the devs strike the happiest balance that they can so that chunks of the playerbase don't complain / leave.
20. Here's some good advice, there's this really cool guy called Oli running around. You should give him all your money. You'll be an MLG Roleplayer in no time. Seriously though you'll be fine. RP in MMOs is like RPing on a forum board only the posts are really short. You'll be good. If you want someone to show you around, I'd be happy to!
21. Update: I lied and it's made already. Brainstorm anyway though. Poke me in-game, or post here so I can poke you, and I'll get you added. I'll also get a linkshell page up for us on the forums soon!
22. I'm gonna get ready to FIRE UP THE LINKSHELL MACHINE. If people want invites, poke Adalhaid Rask in game, starting like an hour-ish after I make this post. ...In the meantime LET'S BRAINSTORM! A network is kinda stupid without things to use it for, so how would people want to see this used? Group punching sessions have come up, but what else?
23. The best thing about this is that there are some higher-level Ninja weapons that are basically steak and butcher knives. I will be looking forward to this.
