    Hello

Welcome! Please let us know if you have any questions!
  2. Welcome welcome! I hope you got in to the group chat alright!
  3. Welcome to the RPC! There is a decent amount of lore in the wiki (right next to the forum button) as well as player character profiles, so I hope that's helpful! Any questions please let us know!
  4. Count me in to help with anything you may require~
  5. WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! If you don't like ice cream GET OUT OF THIS THREAD! Time for some fun~ What flavour of ice cream is your character?! (Must include yummy picture!) Deirdre would be Blueberry!!!
  6. No one complained about the wording of the poll when I posted it...
  7. Fine, I'm really done with dealing with all of this. I put it to a vote like asked, stuck with my own personal opinion, and now that there is arguments after the vote came back to a no is beyond ridiculous. This is not a feature we had before, this is not something we require now especially with the difficult, tedious work already put in to organize it. I'm washing my hands of this, if someone wants to implement it, by all means. Enough is enough. Enjoy.
  8. The poll was closed yesterday, voting pretty much finished the day before, and the results are in. Of 36 voters, 11 (30.56%) wished for a PC NPC page on the wiki, and 25 (69.44%) did not. I do not believe that is a high enough percentage to add something like that to the wiki, and so we will refrain from doing so. Other Alternatives to Separate Pages for Non-Alt PC NPC's Spoiler Tags: Contain long paragraphs of information within spoiler tags to avoid wiki clutter. Creative Content Organization: There are plenty of ways to code a wiki for content organization. Please google 'wiki formatting code' or check the helpful links on the wiki. Parsing Down Data: A PC NPC plays a small roll, if possible parse down data for the wiki and keep other data for possible inquiry in to the character, if made. Thank you everyone who voted and commented for your feedback.
  9. Hi and welcome to the RPC! Because of NDA we are not allowed to disclose anything regarding the beta servers and what have you. But I'll just... put this... here... -> :tonberry: I'm not really sure what you mean by IC thread for your characters. We have plenty of IC RP threads, but the vast majority of RPers here do not forum RP (though feel free to try and start a thread!) As Yssen mentioned, most people will go to the Player Directory or the Wiki for character information, though this is all classified as OOC information. I hope this answers your question!
  10. Keep it up Toto~ Looking great!
  11. Welcome to the site! If you have any questions please let us know! Please see picture below for general forum advice applicable to this thread.[/align]
  12. Welcome backkkkk~ :cactuar:
  13. I agree with Gospel! Love to see more of your work ^-^
  14. Would you use individual pages for your Storyline NPC's? I'm not sure how the question is slanted, it doesn't really say anything about character depth at all. If you mean the vote yes/no part, we need to gague interest on people who are going to create and maintain these pages. If you don't have detailed in depth NPC's, then you re likely not going to create these kinds of pages, which would mean a no. Does that clear it up a little?
  15. Please note: This vote is if you were to use it, not if you think others could possibly use this feature, please keep that in mind. Please vote Yes if you would legitimately use such a feature. Please vote No if you are content with the way things are in regards to NPC's within your wiki pages. If you want to vote 'Maybe' please vote No or do not vote at all. We want to gauge how many people are actually wanting to use this idea. -------- Hey everyone! Just wanted to post a quick poll about an issue that popped up and we need a vote for! In regards to making separate pages for your NPC's on the wiki, it comes down to, would you do it? Please note that this means if the page is required to be updated, you must update it. Maintenance is completely up to you, and must be up kept. Pages cannot be stubs of information, and would have to be filled out enough to be valuable, as if it was the same as your character page. As of right now, Storyline NPC's are kept in your personal wiki pages for organizational purposes and quick reference. This does NOT include alts. If it is a character you will be logged in on regularly, with which others will be interacting, requiring knowledge with a degree of depth greater than an acquaintance, then an additional page might be appropriate, and would therefore be classified as an alt Player Character. Thank you! If you need any more clarification please inquire in this thread!
  16. If it's just tags (for example like how a page is tagged as 'female') then there is no point to it either. This is only creating stray, loose pages that don't have any real categorization. That's not something we want in the wiki, as it will become chaotic again. To make it feasible at all it would have to be organized in it's own page, but again I only see a few people (like maybe Kylin, with a long list of story NPC's) making legitimate use of it. It's understandable a few people would make use of it, but because a few people would make use of it does not really warrant making a whole new section for such a thing. Again, people have troubles updating their own wiki's having another section like this I feel is just going to get to the point of stagnation. Personally, I keep the descriptions of my story NPC's in my profile. The paragraph has enough in it that people are curious, and enough depth that people understand what I'm getting at. In theory I think it's a great idea, but I really see a very limited amount of people actually making use of this. It seems like there would just be more pages for people to get lost in, as opposed to the imformation being right there about your character, and your story.
  17. Welcome to the RPC! Please let us know if you have any questions
  18. I have been considering, after updating Eva's page, adding a few pages for a couple of the NPC's that exist in her backstory or elsewhere: her father, her former boss, her late fiancé, etc. Is there a setting that can be toggled to prevent these from appearing on the "Player Characters" list or is that something that could be amended (something like Player NPC's maybe?) or alternately how do you think this would most eloquently be handled. Thanks in advance! I thought something like this might come up, which is why I put that note there. If Story NPC's (As in the characters that are NPC's in your storyline) are added along with the Player characters, things are going to look terrible and confusing, people will not know who is who. Now, if they are added to the NPC's, then there is also the confusion as to what is in game (since the current list of NPC's is going to explode once 2.0 is released) and what is RP'd. There is unfortunately no toggle option for either. Another option that may be looked in to is the possibility of having a separate section for NPC's within storyline. The biggest problem I know will come up with it is usage and maintenance. We don't want to be creating pages people will not use and create the clutter of the last wiki. It's hard enough to get people to update their own wikis, many people are not going to bother updating extra pages like NPC's in their storyline. And really, why make an extra page if it's just a short little blurb about the character? For now, I think if you are making character NPC's that you will not be roleplaying on a heavy basis (If you are roleplaying them actively, then it should be labeled an alt, and therefore made under the 'Player Characters') then maybe write a little biography for that character in your own characters wiki, to keep things organized.
  19. Kerr is right. The basic rumours are your doing, a few people have decided to create PC Rumours where people can fill in their own rumours. Of course, you must be extremely careful when editing others pages, so if there is a note explicitly saying you can, then by all means. If not, it is best you speak with the person, maybe PM them, and offer the rumour.
  20. The New Wiki Is Here! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page Hey Everyone! Please bear with me and pay close attention to the following post. I know it's long, but please read through it! The new wiki is being launched today. While the overall layout is technically the same, there are some major overhauls you may notice. The RPC itself received a facelift recently, so we've decided to do the same for the wiki. A few changes of note; - Graphical Updates - Log-in's are now tied with the forums. Please use your forum log in to access the wiki. - Every page has been updated, formatted, and packed with as much lore as we currently possess. Please note, certain areas are lacking due to the much anticipated 2.0 lore bomb and NDA restrictions, so please be patient in their updating. - Unused pages have been removed, or reorganized in to single pages. No more time spent search for those stray pages! The biggest reason for a change to the new wiki was due to the catastrophic disorganization of our lore pages. We had attempted to work with the current wiki, but there was too much to delete and move that it was better starting fresh. So thank you all for your patience and understanding. The plan for the new wiki is constant updating based on released information given to us by SE, you can count on information to be there in a clear, readable format, for your reference. Because of NDA and unreleased information, pages will be fleshed out as soon as the information is released. Due to the transfer from the current wiki to a new one, your profiles have been moved, but you will be responsible for re-uploading any missing images images, custom templates and fixing any broken links (see note below). If something has gone terribly wrong with your profile in the move worry not, please just post here and let someone who can help know. Updated: All profiles have been moved over, but a few of you have updated since that was done. Those of you that have, please copy your wikis over to the new one again, sorry! In order to keep the wiki a safe, clean and organized place for adventurers to go, there are a few things you'll need to keep in mind when using the new wiki; - Please do not, and I cannot stress this enough, do not break NDA. If content is found breaking the NDA, it will be immediately removed and those involved will be spoken with by an admin. - Please do not edit other peoples pages without permission. - Please do not create stray pages, if test pages are required for you, please ensure they are deleted promptly. Do not create pages outside of character profiles. The wiki has been tediously organized, so if you have an addition, please bring it up in a thread. A Few Observations; - A few characters only had their first name listed in the character profiles list. Due to the possibility of name repeats, all characters should have their first and last names when creating a profile. This is to prevent and unfair decision in the event duplicates occur, and to make everything look cleaner. You can change your name at any time. - I noticed a few profiles where people had some issues with their formatting. If anyone has questions about wiki formatting, or needs a helping hand, please ask anywhere on the forum! - Because of the confirmation of apostrophes in in-game names, and the recent bomb of naming conventions, if you need to rename your character profile on the wiki please either ask for some help, or do it yourself! (Edit > Move > Rename the page to what you want it to be.) A Note About Broken Links and Stray Pages: A part of what disorganized the previous wiki was the over abundance of random, blank pages created for personal categories, or personal links on profile pages. Please do not create random pages to link to your profile. If you wish to link a page, find the appropriate page that is already created, and link it like that, or suggest a page to be added to the wiki. Categories themselves, like Race/Citizenship/Player Character, are organized via the infobox template, present on every character profile. If you are using a custom template, please either use the provided template, or ensure your links are in working order. Not doing so could cause your profile to not be linked on the Player Character page! Do not create your own categories! Some New Features! -Citizenship has been updated! Citizenship for characters is now possible for; Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Garlemald, Ala Mhigo, Ishgard and Sharlayan. Once provided proper flags by SE for the above mentioned, they will also be included. If you would like another citizenship added, please just ask and it will be done! - Characters now have the ability to be organized by their citizenship! - A 'Featured Page' has now been added! The featured page will feature a new character page each month, in hopes of boosting exposure to different characters! - An updated home page for the wiki providing some beginner Q&A as well as some quick and helpful links! - Wiki coding cheat sheet added to tutorials. Old wiki located here: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wikiold/index.php?title=Main_Page Note: The previous old wiki will be removed in a month. It is located here: http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki2/index.php?title=Main_Page Again, if you want to see anything added to the wiki, such as a new feature, please let us know! Big thanks to Gospel, Knave, Mtoto, Xenedra and Kylin. We are looking at upgrading the coding behind the entire wiki in the future, any help would be appreciated! If you have any comments or suggestions, please post them here! Thank you! A Fun Extra: The cool thing to do on the wiki these days, besides creating and updating them, is adding rumours on your friends 'Rumour Mill' sections! Keep an eye out for this trending new addition on your friends pages! (Often labelled 'PC Rumours') (Tl;dr?: Too bad, go up and read it all, it's important stuff.) ALSO PLEASE NOTE: I know the 'Recent Pages/SpecialPages/ect' are not working. They will work after a short time, the servers just need to refresh themselves. Thank you for noticing, and please report any other bugs!
