(Not to derail the thread...but-) 1st thing, Haiderin -> Hydaelyn. It's on the top of the website. While I would agree you're correct on certain points, the guilds themselves and the world of Hydaelyn is different than a per-industrial world we know. You are equating player characters more with regular citizens, but the extreme percentage of us are playing characters as 'adventurers' who are regarded as the lowest class and expendable, almost akin to a slave. So that's not a great starting point, even with wealth, family or legacy behind you. Those characters in the military- in the focus of the Grand Companies, and not military forces like The Brass Blades or The Stone Torches- get paid in seals and not gil. Seals are only valuable to redeem for equipment, basically to prolong your life in the field and not for padding your pockets. The Yellow Jackets, The Brass Blades, The Stone Torches, The Wood Wailers and all the rest of the personal forces (police/military forces) are more equivalent to your description of a military, and I do not believe many characters are actually in those forces. Conjurers and Thaumaturges are not necessarily educated and powerful either, barely more learned than the marauder swinging the axe. In Gridania, perhaps, hearing the whispers of the elementals like conjurers are apt to do, you would receive more respect. Conjurers can be poor like the rest of us if they can't find work, or believe in things not necessarily accepted by others, and therefore cast out. Education is really a perception, you could be book smart or field smart, but because you know one does not mean you are necessarily educated. Class is a lifestyle,my character for example makes gil on jobs she can, but she does not spend that gil, instead sending it to another family. If she needs food she hunts and cooks herself, costing her no gil. If she needs equipment, perhaps then she would spend any small amount she can make for that purpose, or do a favour for a friend who could provide her with the gear in exchange for a service. In that case, spending no gil. Deirdre could be wandering around for moons without any gil in her pocket, and be just fine. Yes, she is a lower class of society because of her decisions, and because of her end of the year total income. Basically the point I am getting at is the use of 'class' in this case is merely a broad term for the various lifestyles of the characters being played. This thread really has no place getting in to social vs wealth classes, it's just for fun and to get a measure of what the RP community is doing, without really dwelling on the specifics. :cactuar:

Deirdre is in Lower Class~ While she makes a good chunk of gil with her various skills, all of it goes to her children, who are being taken care of by another family. This is the case for now, she could very well drift in to the middle class.

Since Yoshi's team have taken up the game, I think they plan to implement more of the actual traditions than the old team, since they just ended up kinda throwing everything in the world and washed their hands. I think it's too early to be thoroughly annoyed about anything, really. It's not Yoshi's fault he was given a bland starting point. From what I've already seen, there is a vast improvement on the things mentioned. *wink* Lucky Miqo's though, you guys have gotten all the good chunks of lore~ Jealous.

I see what you're saying, but the top of Ban's head (and for measurements sake I suppose the models used should have the least puff in hairstyle, so as not to skew data) only just barely comes up to Deirdre's eyes. So I understand rounding but don't understand how such a difference can be answered with it. Just an observation.

Hm I was looking at this height chart and I'm kind of curious... I stood Deirdre (Shortest Wildwood Elezen Female) next to Bancroft (Tallest Moonkeeper Miqo'te Male) and he is significantly shorter... but the graph says they are the same height. Subsequently, Gospel (Shortest Midlander Hyur Male) next to Bancroft, they are also the same height. The graph there says Gospel should be taller... ... will be interesting to see the comparison with the screenshots once NDA is over.

We've never used the RPC as an IC identity in game at all. Everything that happens here besides the forum RP we have, is pretty much OOC. This is a super old thread.

Roleplay got stagnant, people began leaving the game so I felt there was little reason to continue with it. Then when things started to swing back in I was going to pick it up, but many of the people I was drawing just never came back, so I ditched it in favour of my Circle Of Influence project ^-^ Thank you for the interest though~

I think it's very feasible that characters can come back earlier (or later) than the major bulk will on release, so main characters attending this is very possible. Personally, I can't have Deir attend but I may bring my alt. I suggest anyone new to the community check an event like this out, even if you don't RP! It's a great way to get involved in things. Just remember, at big events like this it's easy to get lost in the crowds and text. Try to think of it like you are in a large group of people talking; you're not going to pick up every single conversation and it's context. If you're in a conversation, focus on those people mainly. If you are wandering, look through bits and pieces of conversation like you normally would. Looking forward to this Kylin!

Personally, I have too much time (RP wise and grinding wise) invested in to my character to simply re-roll her. It would ax all the development I've made over the last 2 years, and make her less of a character for it, lacking those experiences. Though I will be starting a secondary alt character, because I do enjoy experiencing the game. As a note on the server selections, when 1.0 first came out we agreed on a server beforehand, and everyone on the RPC seemed to be on the same page. Same thing goes with beta. ^-^ Don't think it will be too big an issue.

It is being formatted for the new wiki, a long with a chunk of other Lore.
