Since this has become a generic thread in which I RP and post stories, I've decided to add a makeshift table of contents! Everything in this thread are either stories or RP associated with recent of ongoing events (i.e they occur after the start of 2.0 when Aya began her new life outside the walls of Ishgard). Stories relating to earlier events are to be found in other threads, thought I will link to them here. Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.
Aya replied to Knight Kat's topic in RP Discussion
These sorts of things can always become monstrous to handle! From the chatter I was following it sounded like a lot of fun, even if the numbers spiraled out of control! The energy and excitement around the storyline and events is testament to how much fun people are having, and how great of a job you have done! I didn't participate in the event, but was so happy to get brought into the plot at least secondarily, thank you so much Osric and Kiht! I hope to see some Exiles at the Quick Sand sometime...! -
... It's the Twelve's wood. And... I just got it

You guys are a bad influence! Not that Aya really needs bad influences...

*resists urge* I would have way too much fun with this thread! Yvelont, I probably shouldn't have, but I laughed out loud at that

Since I decided to have Aya take a job at the Quick Sand I've seen plenty of tavern RP! There is plenty of flirting and romancing going, of course, but there's also a great deal of general conversation, and casual RP. I have fun just chatting with people, and learning about the characters, and (sometimes) getting a little feel for some of the RP story lines going on because of the way the characters discuss them. I certainly wouldn't encourage people to stay away because of the flirting - sometimes there is a bit of excess in public RP, but its pretty rare. I'd also just mention that its a great way to meet people, since you can just swing by and sit at a table with someone or next to them at the bar and try to strike up a conversation. It doesn't always work, but when it does, it can be fun Ultimately, though, it seems best as a place to mingle and meet people, rather than as a destination for serious RP itself. But for that purpose its terrific.

Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.

Hi! Thank you for also replying! I'm not really looking to take part in the plot, because well, I can't reliably make it to do so! I'm not that silly I am just looking to fit in with the Ishgardian RP that is occurring on the server, and I'd like to make sure that my own character storyline is consistent with what is going on around me. I don't want to be, "that stupid Aya who thinks she can run around sounding like an Ishgardian all the time" to those most interested in RPing Ishgardians, I'd rather fit into the overall story line well enough that Aya could be known to, and perhaps interact with those who do without it being a problem. And if I never run into any exiles, well, that's alright, but it will be disappointing not to meet any! Aya Foxheart is the character in question, and my only one! -

Thank you for the reply! Unless they're hell-bent on tracking down every last person who has left the walls, I find it hard to believe that they'd find interest in Aya - but I am uncertain on that point so I feel it something worth discussing! Her history in Ishgard includes being a pleasant and likable young girl who was delinquent in her studies, preferred hidden nightlife and the company of the adventurous, rebellious, and frequently criminal to that of proper society (which, regardless, would likely have had little interest in a once prominent Ala Mhigan family now reduced to poverty, and living off of the backs of distant relatives, yet clinging for dear life onto old pretensions, i.e. her family are kind of unlikable, unimportant people). Its likely that she got into trouble through her friends, but never would have engaged in any serious criminal offense, nor anything of real value to society (unless one considers partying and entertaining to be of value!). She's readily found at the Quick Sand these days, and although often busy serving patrons loves to chat! It should be easy to meet In-Character, and any Ishgardian who meets her will instantly recognize her accent. (That said, she'll probably treat anyone she believes is from the Ishgardian upper classes with considerable coolness). -
Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.
Aya replied to Knight Kat's topic in RP Discussion
Hello! I'm not regularly available to make your events, but I'd like to keep Aya plausible within the general Isghardian story arc (and I am a little worried at this point that she isn't!) She's not Ishgardian by birth, but arrived as a child with her family as refugees from Ala Mhigo just before the gates closed. She escaped the city within the past year or so, fleeing her parents more than the city itself. She'd been kind of a low life within Ishguard itself, and her assumption is that being an undesirable, and a non-Ishgardian refugee, that the Ishgardians themselves would be happy that she is gone. She doesn't really hide who she is, and speaks with a clear Ishgardian accent (though it is adulterated by the accent of her homeland). Any thoughts on whether her assumption would be correct, or if perhaps her living rather openly as an Ishgardian refugee would draw the attention of these Ishgardian agents? Given that she's worked as a barmaid for the Roost, and now for the Quick Sand, it seems like an open secret at best. Unrelated to this, I'd be happy to join in RP but I don't think I can make the scheduled events or meetings (at least not regularly). -
Aya stands back up as the Lalafel turns to continue his run. Holding the water skin with both hands, just as she was when he first saw her. She smiles brightly and watches him start around the circle again, before turning around herself and heading back to the Quicksand; hoping to avoid any trouble with Momodi.
-
She nods seriously, her eyes wide with concern once more, the barest smile on her lips, "It should give you enough energy to finish now right!?" she returns the the cap to the water skin as he finishes slaking his thirst for the moment, "You're almost there! Do you know the Quicksand? When you're done come by and you can have the rest of this water, and I'll get you something to eat--you're going to be starving!"
-
She smiles back while listening, "Well, Ruru, my name is Aya, and l I hope you find all of this effort worthwhile when you look back on it. And you just look like someone who's been running all morning, that's nothing to be ashamed of, hmmm? How much longer are you going to be running?"
-
"You're welcome!" she says with a quiet excitement, and a bit of a giggle. "I just saw you running all morning, and its so hot in here... and it must be even worse under all that armor! It just really looked like you could use some water-I don't think I could have forgiven myself if I'd heard later today that a poor Lalafel had collapsed at the Hustings!" She cants her head again looking suddenly worried while she holds a finger to her lips, "Mmmm.. I was worried that you might be in trouble, it didn't really seem like something you'd do by choice. I hope I don't get you in any more."
-
Despite the young blonde woman's unlikely appearance, she was quite real, and that little smile of hers only grew wider while the Lalafel looked around the room nervously. As he seemed to stammer his question of disbelief, she canted her head and let out a happy little, "heh", before answering him, "I sure hope not~" her French-like, foreign accent obvious as she grinned. "It just seemed like you could really use some water, please have some! Then you can see if I am real or not!"

http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/wiki/images/6/60/Aya_waiting.png[/img] Aya watched with a soft, concerned look as the Lalafel continued his route around the circle. Her hands shifted a little around the waterskin, the glaring looks of the guards causing a momentary worry that she'd be expelled from the room before the little runner made his way around again. But, as he finally began to approach and made eye contact with her, the concern quickly turned to a warm smile. As he neared her, slowing, she took a step forward, close to his path, and lowered herself, squatting so that she was about down to his height. Without saying anything, she thrust her hands forward offering the skin of chilled water toward him as he approached.

It was still Aya's first week in Ul'dah, and never had this Ala Mhigan refugee raised among the dregs of Ishgard, felt quite so out-of-place. From the burning sun, to the strange local customs, and even the stranger local smells, she had to continually remind herself that she was still in Eorzea. Wandering around town to sight-see and learning her way around town seemed to be a great use of a free morning. On her list of objectives was to see the Hustings Strip, off-limits to a poor foreigner such as herself, but worth seeing despite the risks! The expectation in her expression was almost palpable as she stepped slowly along the richly carpeted stairs, trying but failing to hide her face while watching the sight of the chamber unfold before her eyes. The full affect of the massive domed room was astounding: it seemed that the rumors of Ul'dah's vast wealth were, if anything, understated. She stood as if struck, marveling at the decorations of the room, hanging tapestries, gold fittings, perfect carved stones, the uniforms, armor, and weapons of the guards who seemed like characters pulled right from the pages of a story book, and a Lalafel running...wait what? She sucked in a sudden breath, her eyes opened to a full wideness as her lips hung slightly open in awe; she was lost in the moment and entirely unaware of the wary eyes of sentries that turned her way. Her mind wandered over the difference between this hall, and the forest city of Gridania that had been her home for most of the past year: with its bare wooden structures, recently re-constructed homes, and shabby-looking guards who mostly provided their own mis-matched equipment. For a moment she was reminded of Ishgard, only with less oppressive overtones. A sudden cough startled her to attention, and with a shake of the head she looked at the sentry with the expression of a deer suddenly caught in the open. She froze in place before dawning a bashful smile and turning to return down the stairs she had come. Still, as she started to step away she turned to look back over her shoulder watching the little Lalafel run passed again. He was breathing like a man ready to expire, the tunic beneath his armor drenched with sweat, what could possibly have possessed him to run like that? She tilted her head a bit, and looked back once more as she walked away. As she explored the city a while longer, the strange sight in the Hustings continued to beguile her. After wandering her way through the winding local markets she decided to peek into the landing one more time, and once again, a little less entranced by the majesty of the space, she spied the little Lalafel running desperate laps bearing a tortured grin. Resigned, she shrugged her shoulders and let out a soft sigh, "certainly he couldn't be doing that by choice?" she thought, and turned to make her way back to Momodi's. Aya dressed for her barmaid shift, still thinking about the Lalafel she decided that she had to do something for him. Still rather unaccustomed to the fashion of Ul'dah, she wore the corset, thigh-boots, and other accessories expected of a barmaid in Northen Eorzea. Once readied for work she made her way to the back room of the kitchen, and filled one of her own water skins full of fresh water, surreptitiously plucking an ice shard to chill the liquid, and after pausing in thought, another. Chilled water was not cheap in the land of the desert flame and scorching sun, but she thought it a risk worth taking... A few moments later, while she should have been starting her shift at Momodi's, she arrived once more at the Hustings: standing near the circle that loops around the Chamber of Rule. This time the sentries were even more suspicious, as they watched the strangely dressed woman standing there holding the filled skin close to her body. She ignored their gazes and watched the Lalafel running his next lap, ready to offer him the cold water.

*laughs* That was not my intention! Pretty funny though RP threads are fun!

No epicness here... I think Aya would get swallowed by it if she met it Just a girl trying to get by in a challenging world.
-
I'm in kind of the same place, except its because most of my friends have stopped playing. I've been meeting new people, and making new friends, but its tough to really get involved in the RP they're doing (and so far I haven't had any luck with that). I don't really have any advice unfortunately, except to try to be persistent and friendly
-
Looking on with full cheer and excitement Aya gleefully follows Natalie's lead looking around the room. As their eyes settle on the partially occupied table she looks about ready to nod in agreement about the acceptability of the spot, before seeming to stop dead in her tracks. She looks toward Natalie, apprehension in her eyes as she considers momentarily the dangers of an unknown, unpredictable giant. Looking at the confident Sultansworn rallies her quickly though, and Aya energetically motions toward the table, "Don't forget the peanuts, I hear they're good for making new Roegayden friends!"
-
As Aya looks toward Natalie she is smiling brightly, almost laughing, with a broad flush upon her cheeks. "Maybe I want the sort of company that I don't have to beat away with a stick!" she raises her hand to shake an invisible stick in Natalie's direction. Tilting her head toward Kage she offers a grinning nod, "I can't say just yet--but the ale seems to be helping~" she cheerfully extends the final syllable, before flashing her sunny grin. Pulling herself upright from the bar, she turns to face the group and then to look out over the room. With her left hand grasping the remaining ale, she raises her right fist impetuously, "To a table! And peanuts for Natalie!"
-
Still leaning over the counter, nursing the gifted ale, Aya looks toward Natalie with that warm grin. "Well I think you've succeeded in that! I'm glad I am not too scary for you!" She screws her face up in a mock threatening glare and then laughs again before letting out a happy sigh and smiling. "I suspect Momodi can't mind us at his bar too much! But a table wouldn't be bad, I am just happy for the company."
