The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Rythulian replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Popping in for a quick rant... Auto blame on DRGs. Only had this once so far, hoping it doesn't happen again. Let me set the scene for you... Running AV because I switched GC and needed to do it. Fine, i've done it before as a DRG, easy enough. First room. Tank pulls the frog and a nearby set of enemies. Fine. Then proceeds to body pull another set. Okay, can still work with that. MNK starts spamming aoe, I primarily stick to single target rotation because the tank looks pretty shaky with aggro. Use ring of thorns probably twice, I never personally draw aggro off of the tank. Anyway, that lot goes down. Tank proceeds to rush off, grabs another set of enemies body pulls another set. Okay, round two of this then. I got one ring of thorns off and then switched to single targeting an enemy that took off after the healer. Tank has meanwhile body pulled another set of enemies and the MNK is aoe spamming. We end up wiping. Who gets blamed for the wipe? Me. If I was being blamed for not adding aoe DPS I would happily accept that the wipe was my fault. But no. I get blamed for the wipe for using too many aoe attacks. The MNK was spamming aoe but no, must be DRGs fault because lol DRG, right? Then the healer starts making comments about how i'm a noob and can't do my job, the tank starts making comments about how they're on T11 and are too good for this sort of failure. I don’t mind running with PuGs most of the time but it’s runs like that that really make me dislike the whole system. -
No one is suggesting that it's wrong for people to try out the new race. Wondering whether a lot of them will turn up at once or whether people will stick with what they know is, as I said in my first post, something interesting to look forward to. Some people are looking forward to the new jobs, some people are looking forward to the new setting, i'm looking forward to seeing how the popularity of certain races will change.

I'm just going to say that in the context of this site, fairly certain that only newcomers would read too much into my statement. It's a well established fact that miqo'te are popular and they do seem to attract the most attention due to the 'cat person' stereotype. I think we can all agree that that popularity does make them seem more prevalent than they actually are according to the census. And while I can understand wanting to dispel a negative idea, sometimes and observation is just an observation. I admittedly haven't been on Balmung for a long while, haven't been on there since Mythology tomes were tossed out in fact, so i'll add that my personal observations come from an obviously different server stand point.
-
Never would have guessed that Hyur are popular, I have to say. Which i'm going to assume is based on individual server differences since the ones I tend to frequent appear to be incredibly Miqo'te heavy. Either that or I simply keep missing them due to timezones. Which isn't an impossibility. My interest still stands though on whether servers are going to be overrun with Au ra upon release.
-
Two things i'm now interested in for when the expansion drops, because I clearly have strange priorities... Whether the Au ra race is going to be the new Miqo'te. - In the sense that they're everywhere and every other race is a rare sight to find. Looking at you Elezens. It would also be interesting to see whether the game just becomes primarily between those two races or whether the majority of Miqo'te players make the switch. The state of the DF. - Sure, when DRK was announced a lot of hype went to that but since the announcement of Mechanist? Just going to be interesting to see whether a little re-balancing of those wait times occurs, whether it stays the same as it is now, or whether it somehow manages to get worse.

Clueless sailor.

I can't speak for Balmung but I know there's a lala/roe wedding being planned on Jenova. Literally the only one i've heard about so far.
-
I'm not overly interested in the marriage system. Mainly because I have no one to marry. But I do find it kind of amusing that out of all of those items apparently there's a bug with one of the veils. Seriously SE? You could make two of them display fine but one of them has a chance to bug out? Also i'm sure they have a basis in past games or something but I find the names of the Arcanist weapons so dramatic. Apocalypse and Last Resort.
-
They're customisable, that's the appeal to them and I get that but there are other routes to go down right now. Several of which seem more appealing, to me at least. You could go down the relic route if you want to maximise your stats. Or you could go for the bought weapons if you're not overly fussed. Go for a solidery one, work your way up to an ironworks one. Or there's the coil weapons which bis guides, at least for the classes i've checked, lean towards. Like I said earlier for me, personally, there just isn't the appeal to bother with the relic quests these days.
-
We haven't heard confirmation that the 'final form' of the current relics will be used in 3.0 either. And the fact still remains that there needs to be a bigger incentive to actually bother with them. We have alternative options these days, would have thought that they'd have made the relics a touch more powerful on equal ilvl to make all of that work a little more tempting.
-
All I can say is that the final product of the relics better be amazing. Personally i'm one of those people who got to a certain point, got bored, and bought a soldiery weapon instead. There just doesn't seem like a real need to go all the way through the relic quests right now. In my opinion at least.

Are the EU and US servers still located in the same place?
Rythulian replied to Sarpy's topic in RP Discussion
I feel like it's worth pointing out that any server can have timezone problems. It's more a matter of the people you intend to play with, be it RPing or in-game progression, that's the real deciding factor. Case in point, i'm doing end game things on Odin server, which is technically an EU one. And yet my FC on there is primarily made up of US players so we start content at stupid times like 2am. Being on the 'right' server for your timezone can mean diddly squat these days. And to be fair to the Balmung server, there's a decent EU gathering on there these days. -
This is what I love about different currencies. Complete character overhaul with a phial of fantasia and a name change? Rounding it up it's £12. Which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. For comparison's sake, the Sleipnir mount? That's £13.80 Cheaper to do a full change of a character than to buy an optional mount.
-
Been waiting for this. I have an unused Miqo'te account that I want to get back to using. Going to change the name, fantasia it, and add myself to the lalafell ranks.
-
I could and have spent literal hours trying to think up names. My problem comes into play when the character's name has to conform to a certain format. Plain, modern names? Those are fine, those I can do. FFXIV based names because they have a certain 'lore' to fit in with, bane of my life. Spent ages trying to think up a Roe name simply because I was too stubborn to use the name generator. It's a nice idea and easy to use but certain names have been done so many times from it. I literally just hit the Roe dictionary in the end and hoped for the best.
