1. LOL!! There weren't too many voice parts. 99% of the video is just music and scenes.
2. Way off topic, wondering what some of your favorite books are. A few I really enjoy are: Dark Tower series by Stephen King Talisman by Stephen King Avatar series by Richard Awlinson (Shadowdale, Tantras, and Waterdeep). This was a series of novels set in the D&D Forgotten Realms world and has one of the best villains evah! LOL! I also liked Magic Kingdom for Sale by Terry Brooks. Anywho.....what about you guys?
3. I am psyched for this! I think the April 14 date was just for PS4. I think PC and PS3...I think I heard March 27? I could be wrong.
4. So many great thoughts and suggestions here. I appreciate everyone offering their thoughts and ideas. I'm glad I spoke up and I look forward to meeting you in the game.
5. YES! This is the enjoyment I get from RP as well, story arcs with love! Tragedy! Fallen heroes and redemption. Families and betrayals and alliances. There are definitely storytellers and RPers out there that crave and thrive on good storytelling. Tavern RP and random encounters are just a way to meet people. Once you find that you gel... then you can PLOT to your heart's content. That's the RP I am used to! I used to play D&D (Forgotten Realms setting), Rifts, World of Darkness, Traveller, Shadowrun and others. I love big adventures.
6. I usually play M-F in the evenings, like generally 5-10 pm EST (with breaks in between for important things like eating and bathing. LOL!) , and on weekends the times vary more as I may need to go out shopping or something.
7. I want to thank everyone so far for the replies. I just want to make sure everyone knows, I have had good experiences as well. I think that what has happened is, the few good ones I have had get washed away by that feeling of isolation, if that makes any sense. And yes, the FC folks I have talked to have been great. But in our FC chat, which is OOC, everyone seems so close and it really is hard to "bond" with anyone as messages go flying by and everyone seems to part of a conversation I am just not understanding or part of. And yeah....there is a lot of backstory rp going on that is hard to jump into. But I definitely have not had a problem with any people per se....just circumstances I guess. I get confused a lot about what I have to do, or how to rp in general and eventually tuck my tail and go fight monsters because that's easier for me to deal with. And I apologize for venting/whining (as I know some may see it). I will make an effort to try and meet more people. Maybe chatting with some people OOC to get to know them better will help me feel better with rp..?
8. Oh no! Kage was fine! I was glad to have been able to say hello but I truly was exhausted and needed to get to bed. What I'm describing has been my various interactions where I have had time to talk and such. So this was definitely not related to you. Kage rocks.
9. I am very new to MMOs (this is my first and I only just started in November), and thus I am very new to role playing, so please forgive this post if it is silly or just full of rookie mistakes. I joined the Balmung server with a desire to try rp. I have a character on another server who is leveled high and such, so in this server I am a very low level character. I don't really know anyone at all. I have met a few people but never for more than maybe 10 -15 minutes at a time. So, my engagements have been very limited. But it feels sometimes like I am 1 step forward, 2 steps back in terms of making friends. To be specific, in the past two days I have met folks (yay) and engaged in small level rp (yay), but I also feel a bit excluded from some of the....ugh, I hate using the word, but "cliques" that exist (and it's really for a lack of better word). I met someone who was really cool and we had a fun conversation, only to see a mt whisper pop up where the person seemed annoyed and wanted to go. Then the person left the FC less than an hour later. Others I have met seem only mildly curious about me and then don't want to engage (but I get it....the IC aspect). But many times I try engage, people are OOC and don't seem to want to be IC, or their group IC is set and I feel like I am just butting in so, I leave and end up alone again. I try and be nice, but outside of the "cute Lalafell" swoon that soon fades, I seem to be more of an annoyance to the more established folks. And there are times I send tells with serious OOC questions that are ignored completely. It gets to be disheartening. I am just confused and not sure what to do. I end up just wandering the world tackling story quests instead because at times (and I know...it may just be my own perception) I feel unwanted. And when you're doing a story you already know and have already completed elsewhere, it can be incredibly lonely. Ugh....I am venting I know, and I don't know what I expect here. I just don't want to pester the leaders of the FC I am in because I perster them enough with the 1,001 questions I always have. I just wonder if I made the right decision trying this. :?
10. This Lalafell wants to meet da bears!!!
11. The above post has been endorsed by this guy.

Hyeo :3

I also was the kid in the back of the clad writing and drawing but I think my stick figures don't actually count. I'm new to rp in any online gaming setting so if you see me, be gentle and forgive my flubs. But I'm always up to do my best.
13. Post-Calamity: Sunset Rurutani felt his blood go cold at the menace being emitted from Nonotano. He stepped back a bit as his brother glared at him. "Stay back, Nono..." he said with an edge of tension in his voice. The breeze coming across the rocky desert and setting sun gave the scene an atmosphere of dread. It happened in the snap of one's fingers; Nonotano leapt at his brother, with the dagger extended toward him, as he seemingly was moving for a quick kill. Rurutani gasped and leapt to the side as fast as he could, but not before the dagger scratched his left arm deeply. As he scrambled in the dirt to get his senses together quickly, he heard Nonotano roar with rage as he started to move to his feet. In anticipation of a second attack, Rurutani lunged at his brother and engulfed him with both arms, throwing him to the ground again. As Nonotano struggled, Rurutani deftly smacked the dagger out of the struggling hands. As the two grappled on the ground, Rurutani managed to land a few quick strikes to the face of Nonotano, while the elder brother kicked wildly and landed a few blows of his own. The two were dusty and bloody after a few minutes of fighting and both had hoarse breathing as they finally managed to separate themselves and stand again. "Why? Why did you do it?" Rurutani said through painful breath. He could feel the blood flowing down his left arm and wondered quickly how much longer he could stand. The wound wasn't painful but the bloodflow concerned him. Nonotano glared at him and replied "Mother did the impossible....she nearly single-handedly dismantled everything Father had worked so hard to accomplish. And she allowed her ignorance of the world blind her to the reality that we are going to lose. When the Garleans come, at least I will be safe." Rurutani uttered a broken laugh which was followed by a coughing fit. "Safe? So you give them what...information? Goods? And they just leave you alone....how long do you think that would last?" "Longer than you think, brother. And Mother, fool that she was, would have spoiled it! Her mouth always got her in trouble and I merely took preventive measures this time," Nonotano said with a smile. He stretched a bit and moved toward the dagger near the cliff edge. He leaned down, groaned and picked it up and turned to face his brother - **THUNK** The arrow slammed into Nonotano's chest so quickly, he hadn't even had time to react. He glanced down and saw the wooden shaft sticking out in front of him and he gasped for air that wouldn't come. He looked up and saw Rurutani, glaring at him, holding his bow tightly with another arrow notched and ready. The dagger fell from Nonotano's hands as he reached down to try and pull the arrow from his chest. But by that point it was too late and one of his feet had gotten too close to the edge of the Nophica's Wells cliffside and with one last desparate, enraged look on his face, stumbled over the edge of the cliffside. Rurutani sighed and lowered the bow to his side. He realized he was still bleeding and needed help quickly as the Garleans may not appreciate one of their informants being killed. He took a second and sighed heavily as he realized he was alone for the first time in his life. "I'm sorry Mother...Zezeri....Father....I failed you." He hung his head, picked his bag up with a groan and began to walk toward Black Brush Station. He wept silently as he glanced to the west and saw the sun had finally set, leaving him in the welcome arms of dusk.
14. This. Yes. This. ^^^^ I forgot to mention, that's my whole life on the other server. All of my best friends are in another FC and we just use linkshell and run parties together.
15. I think that it's tough because of the irl aspect of it. I think everyone goes through lulls and that's just part of it I think. I know in my other server I play on, I am in a great FC but am thinking of leaving as I just do not mesh well with the group. I am friends with a couple of folks but outside of that, it's just not productive. But I do feel bad because of my friends, so I completely understand that feeling. What I think is, you pay for this game, an you need to do what you need to in order to enjoy it. And if that means leaving the FC to see what is out there, then you should. 1) You will still be friends with your irl friends, and they should support you if they are your friends. You can still run with them, etc. It's as simple as a party invite. 2) You can still RP with them as well, even in a different FC. 3) And maybe if you leave and see how it is another FC you may find your group is not so bad and go back. or you may find the new group is great and you will find newfound enjoyment of the game. I think it's important in this game to do what makes you happy. Anyway....I rambled and maybe didn't help. But, I hope you decided to do what makes you happiest.
16. Hi! Glad to have a new resident to the world and I personally think female Roes are awesome. Males are cool but I always am literally awestruck by female Roes. and always in a good way. So, welcome and I also love Princess Bride. Humperdinck: First things first, to the death. Westley: No. To the pain. Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase. Westley: I'll explain, and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog-faced buffoon.
17. Post - Calamity: Flee! Rurutani's mind was racing as he packed a few articles of clothing, some money for any emergencies, and a few morsels to eat on the road. And of course he could not....COULD NOT...forget his weapon. He would need it now more than ever. He glanced around his small room and roughly wiped the tears from his eyes with his gloved hand. "How could I have been so blind?" he thought to himself as he slung the small bag with his belongings over his left shoulder. He sighed heavily, his breath catching in shakes as he was still trying to control his emotions and weeping. The bustle of people outside in Ul'dah did not ease his fears any. As he left the room with one last glance back, he prepared himself mentally for the sight he would encounter as he crossed the main room of his home, and sure enough, that preparation did no good. He paused for a brief second as the bodies of his mother and sister lay dead on the floor before him. A fresh wave of tears flooded forth and he bit his lip to hold back cries that were threatening to come forth. He knelt down and laid a soft kiss on his mother's forehead and the same for his sister and as he stood and looked down on them he thought "I will make sure whoever did this does not get away with it. I am so sorry..." He again wiped away the tears, took a deep breath and prepared to leave his home, praying to the Twelve that whoever had done this was not lurking outside of the home. He was able to get outside of his home and headed to the gate toward Central Thanalan and Black Brush Station. He had hoped mightily that if he could reach there, he could arrange some travel with people he had met there to get out of Thanalan altogether and as soon as possible. As he was preparing to cross the bridge over Nophica's Wells, he heard a voice that stopped him cold. "Hold there, brother!" Nonotano called. As Rurutani stopped and glanced to the west at the edge of the cliffs, as the sun was setting, he saw his brother standing, glaring at him. Nonotano smiled a wicked grin and gestured to Rurutani. "Where are you headed in such a hurry, Ruru?" "Nono...." his breath caught as he spied small spatters of blood on Nonotano's clothes. "Oh, Nono.....what have you done....?" As he said this the tears welled up again, he dropped his bag to the ground and turned to face his brother. "I did what had to be done, brother. Maybe if they'd had a clearer vision of the storm that's coming, they might still be with us." Nonotano said, coldly. "The Garleans? Oh Nono...." he sighed heavily as he said this. Tears dropped from his eyes as he momentarily looked to the ground. "...Mother knew exactly the type of storm that was coming. That was why she wanted nothing to do with them." "She was a fool, and Zezeri as well. They were weak and had no vision." Nonotano slowly moved his right arm away from his side, revealing, through the shadows and sunlight, the dagger he was holding. He motioned slightly toward Rurutani and narrowed his eyes to cold, menacing slits. ""How about you, Ruru....do you have the vision they lacked?"
18. I. Basic Info Characters:Rurutani Sasatani Primary character:Rurutani Linkshells:Harbingers of Dawn Primary RP linkshell:Harbingers of Dawn II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would like to say I am medium-heavy, but as I am very new to RP, I am currently light (read=shy). I hope to get more involved as I beging to feel more confident and comfortable with playing in a world I know and yet am finding that I know very little about. Views on RP combat and injuries: I believe injuries are okay, especially if you throw yourself into a combat system. As long as details are established between the players prior so there's no surpise "And now Rurutani needs a peg-leg" situations, I am okay with it. Views on IC romance: Romantic interactions and romance in general can be fun if played naturally and unforced. Of course, as many others have stated, it needs to stay IC and not OOC. Going down the path of blurring the lines between IC and OOC, ESPECIALLY with romance can lead to nothing but bad times for all. As long as both people are mature and understand that, I am fine with it because excluding it is segmenting off potentially fun stories. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Family ties are awesome and can lead to humor, drama, and crazy situations between family members. Views on lore: I am a lore rookie so I can't speak too much to this, but I do think lore needs to be adhered to in some degree. A little wiggle room needs to be allowed for, though. Trying to be 100% with the ever evolving canon story and the living RP world can be akin to trying to manuever an aircraft carrier through a one way street at times. so lore is good but you have to be willing to bend a bit. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I like /say for general RP as it reflects folks talking, and I love /emotes for expressing some thought and general actions. /linkshell and /free company is great for just chat outside of the RP and allows for some banter and lets people get to know each other better. Finally, /tells are fine for private dialogue. That may be related to the RP such as fine tuning some interactions, or questions, or it it may just be that the two players are having a conversation outside of the RP world while RP'ing. III. Other Info Country:United States Timezone:East Coast Contact info:You can always send me a /tell in the game, or private message me here as I am on all the time. I am always up for meeting new people and getting to know others in the game. [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]
19. I am also afflicted with newbie-ness, lol, so I would be more than happy to rp with you (even though I am still learning). You can usually find Rurutani running around the woods of the Black Shroud. Chances are, he may have even helped Sihan and you might not even have realized it as his style tends to be assist from a distance and allow others a chance to survive another day.
20. So I saw this thread and decided I would discuss some music I enjoy, help people get to know me better. And due to work policies, no YouTube videos...sorry. Anyway, I love all kinds of music really, but I am a HUGE J-Pop fan. I fell in love with it during one of my trips over there and have been a fan since. My range is really all over the place with it, but I like music by Utada Hikaru, Perfume, The Brilliant Green, Judy and Mary, Namie Amuro, and as silly as some find it, Morning Musume. But Perfume is my most-listened to group. The songs are catchy and tehcno-poppy, but I enjoy them a lot. I also have really gotten into The Brilliant Green courtesy of YouTube, but because they are an older group (and I use the term liberally here), their music is tougher to get (meaning I need to order from a Japanese music site vs buying iTunes or something. Anyway...lol...I rambled a lot here.
21. Pre-Calamity: The Bow It was a brisk morning outside of Horizon as Rurutani journed toward the encampment. As the sun was still low, the lighting was pleasing to the young Lalafell as he gazed around at the shadows engulfing the landscape. The small brush that decorated the parched land swayed ever-so-gently with the morning breeze. Rurutani knew that the cool was deceptive, though, as it would be a scorching day once the sun decided to unleash its full wrath on the region. Thanalan was always hot on days like this, and so he was dressed lightly, to try and battle the heat that would come. He smiled, in spite of himself. This trip, as per usual, was for business purposes, so he should have maintained a more serious demeanor. The weather was just too perfect, though, and the silence around him made the trip especially perfect. His father might have scolded him for having his mind wander, but Rurutani was imaging the world elsewhere. He wondered what others were doing at that very moment, as he walked slowly through the desert. His mission that day was acquire small goods, supplies, and materials to bring home to his family in Ul'dah. They ran a small junkmonger shop within the city, and while they were not wealthy, they were able to make ends meet. Rurutani's father, Nanabesu, had everyone in the family working to help run the shop. His mother, Luluna, helped sell goods and took care of the home, as did his older sister, Zezeri. His elder brother, Nonotano, was the smartest of the children and thus was the liaison to the region and was responsible for getting new customers and clients to work with the small store. Rurutani was, for the most part, happy with his role in going to gather goods and materials through trade or purchase among the encampments in the areas outside of Ul'dah. His job allowed him to get outside and see some of the land around. And it also let him get away from his dour older brother, who at times could be too coarse for his own good. And even then, that didn't work, as his brother had to accompany him at times. Outside of Nonotano, he got along well with everyone in the family, though his father would often scold him for not being focused on the family business. And so it was, on this brisk morning as he entered Horizon and descended the stone walkway into the encircled camp and walked past the early morning shops and customers, that he laid eyes on the most beautiful weapon he had seen in his young life: a wooden bow. He had always had a fascination with weapons and the bow looked as if it had been waiting there for him all along. He glanced up at the trader on the other side of the table and asked how much for the bow. The trader chuckled and responded "Depends on what you've got for trade, m'boy. That there's a fine item." Rurutani considered it for a moment and thought to himself "Maybe father doesn't need to know..."
22. I have had a good experience with this method for caraculs (the black sheep) in Coerthas for obtaining fleece and skins. These mats are really valuable for crafting higher level items and using/selling. If you have a steady flow of mats and mid range gear being sold you can generate a decent flow of income. But that's just my experience.
23. The days have been busy as I continue my studies at the Archery Guild and I am pleasantly surprised by the development of my skills. The now is starting to feel like an extension of myself now and for that I am glad. While I still wander the woods alone I have made efforts to try and intermingle with the locals. Last night I was awestruck by a Mi'qote who sat upon a lamppost in New Gridania as he was crafting materials. It just struck me as an interesting spot to make goods. And while I was impressed, as he looked down on me, he did not seem quite as impressed by me, for which I understand the sentiment. Perhaps he was simply confused why a stranger would suddenly be in awe of him. I was approached this morning by a young troupe of Gypsies who asked me about joining their group. I politely declined but did have a friendly conversation with one of their chefs, who was kind enough to offer me some fine steaks to help me with rations during my treks into the woods. I also saw many folks who seem pleasant enough around town, but I have yet to take the first step in meeting any of them.
