What is the most appealing kind of character to you?
Dresden Voltaire replied to Enzo's topic in RP Discussion
I like dynamic characters with interesting backstories. Personally, I'm not interested in farmers or average joes, especially not in a Final Fantasy game. Actual scholars discussing the pros and cons about aether or two gladiators having a shouting match over how to take a certain monster down is way more entertaining to read than how the kids are doing or moving furniture. I can get that in real life. But whether or not you're a farmer or an actual surviving Allagan relic to me is how the character conducts themselves. Some people use these special backstories just for the 'special snowflake' motif, others actually do have something to write about. If you're going to make a special character, respect mah authori-lore. I'll RP with that last surviving Nymian of yore if they write them really well. (And it actually makes sense.) -
I'd be more than happy to toss Dresden in this plot. Maybe as a distributor and/or user. Wouldn't mind getting busted for it either. That just makes things more interesting.

Who would be your character's voice actor?
Dresden Voltaire replied to TheLastCandle's topic in Fun Prompts
For Dresden? Steve Valentine. British accent and all. 6ZAD4RyndIw -
Aye. Dresden is fanatical to the Holy See and genuinely believes the end justifies the means for the thriving of Ishgard. Murder, lies, scheming, anything that brings heretics to justice is his credo because he believes Halone guides his actions through the Archbishop. He doesn't see himself the villain, just a conflict of perspective to those he's a villain to. I know there's some people who play Garleans who truly believe in uplifting Eorzea through means of war be justified. Those count as well-intentioned extremists, I think.

I play my own character like a sociopath in a sense. Utterly skewed in morals and willing to kill on command, but also able to put on a friendly facade to keep his true nature under wraps. I based him on high profiled criminals who got away with crimes because they were the least suspected. No one assumes the nice neighbor who pays for Girl Scout cookies can ever be a serial murderer. This duality makes it easier to play evil, but not alienate him socially. He can still have friends and maybe even get a good rep, but that's because no one is wise to it. That being said, is there any actual villainous linkshells around that's still active?

So they just let anybody in the Thaumaturge Ossuary now? Dresden paused in mid-punch when the Lalafell went stark raving mad, chasing away patrons and bar ladies alike with his flaming broom. Poor Mother Miounne started whistling for any Wood Wailers in the vicinity and Dresden knew they weren't to be too pleased that the ruckus was caused by some idiotic drunken fool who messed with their commissioned carpenter. That momentary distraction caused a sucker punch to his middle. With a snarl, he doubled over when his 'opponent' took the coward's way out and tried to escape, but Dresden was not one to leave a battle without significant bloodshed. "Silence, you embarrassment to the craft!" Dresden shouted to the Lalafell and summoned his aether before departing after the bard and leaving his crafting materials behind. A cacophony of the water in the air solidified into crackling crystal by the mad Lala's feet, quickly engulfing him from toe to neck in solid ice and rendering him incapable of running. Oh well. The elm lumber was on him then.

Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.

Ah, well no problem. Sorry for bugging you then. You were not bugging us at all. Please do not take any of it personally. They were joking about avoiding you, I promise. Oh no, it's alright. It's cool. I didn't take anything personally at all! -

I don't meta. My post was a joke, man. No problamo. Just the type for clarification. Some RP's I've been in uses meta, some don't. (That, and I'm hyped up on that 5 hour energy stuff. Everything's a trip right now.) -

You guys don't seriously meta, do you? If so it might be a problem if I offer my character as an antagonist and you avoid him because of meta information. Dresden doesn't wear a sign that says 'Holy See Here -- Start Running'. He uses espionage and information gathering so his cover isn't blown. When he hunts, he wears a mask so he can keep on hunting other Ishgard deserters. -

Omg please don't visit the Quick Sand  The Quicksand is his favorite hunting ground. >:3 -
They say there was never a right way to hit a woman, but the abrasive man sure did attack like one. Almost immediately Dresden was being dragged onto the floor and, in hindsight, he found it almost hilarious given the circumstances of his threats. However, someone of his character absolutely despised being topped... in any way, and therefore such an aggressive act would not be tolerated. With snarl, Dresden had no qualms against pragmatism and cheating his way to victory, the fingers of his free hand reaching to unhook his Chocobotail Saw and do an impromptu paint job of the Canopy's furniture only to find himself fumbling upon the latch. The large tool unhooked itself and clattered away along with the Roes who decided they two must brawl for some reason. It was much too far for him to reach now. "Don't. You. Dare." Dresden growled, realizing that he was being strong armed to defeat instead of physical tact. That, or the guy was seriously interested in his flirts. Too bad voyeurism wasn't on Dresden's menu today. Especially in front of Miounne. He attempted to elbow the other man off of him and tried to connect his fist to the drunkard's face in retaliation.

Ishgardians, Thank You for Helping with the Plot.

My character Dresden is a fanatical Holy See devout. His initial agenda is an active heretic hunter that drags escaped Ishgardians back home for sentencing be it in chains or in a body bag. (You can check out my wiki down thar if you want to know more about his history.) If you're looking for that kind of antagonist for plot purposes, by all means hit me up. -
He was zeroed in on. Good. Dresden propped his free hand against his hip, uncaring of the weight of the lumber practically screaming at him to drop. Mother Miounne was watching him from her own little corner of the Canopy, probably making sure he didn't cause a scene... or impatiently waiting for the elm. That was too bad at either rate. The slovenly gent intended for him, pushing a patron's boxes from the table but Dresden had no care for strangers. All it registered was that the man was looking for trouble and the Black Mage was all too eager to oblige. "You must have been blind," Dresden purred in response, showing a bit of teeth with intent to threat. "I was merely flirting and imagining you placed over my lap for a good spanking. Your table manners are atrocious." He was rewarded with a spit of ale to the face. Undaunted, he lightly rubbed a bit of it from his cheek with the swipe of his thumb, grin turning poisonous. "A spanking it is then." Dropping the elm lumber down hard, he had thought he heard Mother Miounne sigh in disappointment when he reached for the scruff of the man's clothing, intending on doing exactly as he threatened.

"Elm logs. Perish the grand thought that Mother Miounne's chairs be equipped with any sort of lumber than elm." First Momodi and now the keeper of the Carline Canopy had eagerly jumped upon Dresden's aid once it was known that he picked up the saw for more gil. Carpentry was hardly a tradeskill he was interested in but after nights spent running around Eorzea finding a fitting repairer for his shoes, such luxuries could no longer be afforded to him. No, even he was not dastardly enough to charge himself for shoe repairs. That wouldn't be the moral thing to do. He sauntered into the Canopy, Chocobotail Saw strapped to his belt like an overgrown blade with teeth and three bags of perfectly cut dark lumber draped over his leatherbound shoulder. There was pride to be had in his rather remarkable skill at carpentry and no matter how mundane it was, pride was a great sin that Dresden eagerly used whenever he had the chance. Let the Wood Wailers look on with envy and bitterness towards foreigners who did better than them, taking supplies from their lands! Many of the Canopy's inhabitants seemed less inhibited than usual today. What drunken slogs. He expected a bit more culture in Gridania as opposed to, you know, Ul'dah. One gentleman had burped so loudly that even the drunks turned their heads from such disgusting display. Dresden was one such person, his scarred eye zooming in on the man in thinly veiled displeasure.

I. Basic Info Characters: Dresden Voltaire, Lydiana Tabris Primary character: Dresden Voltaire Linkshells: Grim Echo, Piquant Pumpkin Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to heavy depending on my mood. Sometimes I'll immerse for hours and other times I'm playing the standard PvE for leveling/crafting. Views on RP combat and injuries: I think that's a fun thing to have. I've no problem having my character experience injuries during a brawl or actual confrontation. Heck, they might even have visual scars to commemorate. However, I don't appreciate godmoding injuries or attacks that actually connect on my own characters if I don't allow it. I extend that same courtesy upon others as well. Views on IC romance: I've no problem with IC romance, though it depends on the character. I have a strict policy not to blur the IC/OOC line when it comes to that sort of thing. My life and my characters' life are not the same. There are other factors for this sort of thing as well. I am comfortable with ERP (though this is something I'd rather use sparingly and only for character development) so long as it's mutually agreed upon and the handler is over 18. Any of the sort is through private linkshell. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): It'd be pretty boring without it, no? Family, friends, enemies, whichever. Diversity is welcomed. Views on lore: I am very lore friendly and often spend my time researching Eorzean lore to create as much immersion as possible. I usually let a few things slide in the grand gist of things but I probably won't RP with people much if they used modern quips like 'dude' or any of that sort. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I can RP practically through any function, so there's not much to dissuade me from doing it. While I prefer functions through /say, I do enjoy RP through /linkshell when I'm outside of crowded places like Ul'dah and such or when I'm leveling. Brackets are used to denote OOC chat unless the linkshell's rules clearly state that it is an OOC chat. III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: PST Contact info: In-game or PM here would be great!
